Bobby likely doesn’t know who it is either. Like I said, for the staff side, at least, there’s apparently not enough fretting over it for the name to even be leaked due to outreach and such to keep the player in the fold. How we feel about it will be different, I’m assuming.

One thing I have noticed is that Bobby often oversells the doom.

Moore’s camp has told Bobby Burton that Trey Moore is returning to Texas. Nothing set in stone, but that would be a big deal, IMO.

A true news salesman

Does the coaching staff know this?!?!?

Well, going from Kentucky to Nebraska isn't a surefire solution to not playing with a shitty QB.

I'm not a Quinn apologist, but it's difficult to be confident in your anticipation throws when your WRs don't run the correct routes

I’m told that Bond might be the dumbest human being to ever don the burnt orange and whit. I alluded to that during fall camp. This isn’t a surprise.

He’s just a dude that’s always looking for an anvil to fall that has scars of so much shitty football at Texas that it orients him to say silly things like “Texas is going to have at least 8 guys drafted” when it’s at least 11 no doubters, or predict us to get boat raced by Bama or the like.
the flip side is he is incredibly grateful for and appreciates any success we have and doesn’t take it as a birthright or anything. I like Bobby for sure- this isn’t a criticism, just my take on his orientation.

Well, 11 guys is “at least 8,” so you agree with him here.

Sure. But you could also say at least 2 guys or at least 10, both are true but convey totally different things coming from the speaker.

The Ewers camp was actively running Bond and Mukuba over and backing up and then running over them again heading into the CSU game. Until Bond’s injury, they looked like idiots on both fronts.

Ultimately, Bond’s lack of prep and lack of size made him mostly a liability on the field, and his attitude allegedly sucked off the field, once his injury happened.

As to being the dumbest guy on the roster, or ever, well, there’s a guy that transferred after disappointing everyone on this board who allegedly can’t read at a JR high level.

Thats interesting on the Ewers camp on Bond, but what’s the bitch about (or why would they even have an opinion on) Makuba?

If we only lose one player this cycle that we would have wanted to keep while adding 7-8 players in the portal and somehow convinced Campbell, Taaffe  and Moore to return that is a big fucking win.

Talk about underwhelming in a good way

Who will handle the return game duties? Golden and Bolden took 100% of the stats there this year on ko and punt returns. I honestly thought we might take a transfer WR just for their experience in the return game.

Proben himself to be a team first guy, where does Niblett fit in to next year's plans?

Much can/will be sorted out in spring/fall practice, but as a current snapshot I can tell you that pregame warm ups had Bolden/Bond/Butler (in that order) practicing punt returns.

I won't go into details, but set against a big sample size of athletes, Bond stands alone in certain displays of douchebaggery.  Not everyone has the personality/foundation to handle the money, attention, and expectations well, especially when adversity strikes.  It would be great if everyone was like Golden/Moore/Whittington.

Yeah of the current guys on the roster I was thinking Moore or Butler returning punts. Obviously depends on what we end up getting in the portal. A speedy RB might return kicks.

So then we need to probably find a SR or Grad TE this Spring?

Not the worst issue as far as losing a potential player that could potentially be a starter...

Does this mean we're gonna have to sit through a Friday of CTJ and Sydney foreplaying in this thread again? Being that Sydney hates Tight Ends and such?

lol, coulda told you that was coming at the beginning of last season when he just didn't even want to join burnt ends for no reason and ghosted and the response from the rest of the guys was "yeah, not worth talking to him about"

So the TE room is Shannon / Randle / Washington / Townsend / Winston - not bad if Washington is what he's hyped to be.

Well then we definitely don’t want him if he doesn’t want to be part of our group

I'd be happy to pick up a good blocking TE in the portal.

With all of Sark’s connections there, how did we end up taking so many Bama busts that are clearly not culture fits?

1 minute ago, Vertigo said:

Not at all. It helps clear the way for some of high potential players already on the team. I wanted Niblack to be a contributor but he just wasn’t. A perfect example is when he caught a pass in the flats against aggy and only had one defender in the general vicinity. That defender easily tackled him for a gain of one yard.

So the TE room is Shannon / Randle / Washington / Townsend / Winston - not bad if Washington is what he's hyped to be.

Yeah but that’s a room full of guys who have basically never played college football. Real snaps anyway. Portal for sure here.

Coach's hubris.  I have the ultimate set of tools.  I can fix it.

Yeah, we develop Washington into the beast the coaches know he can be and then pick up an experience serviceable TE to help fill the gaps.

A year from now I hope the conversation will be, "Townsend is a beast. Might be hard to keep several other guys from hitting the portal, but whatever."

I’m not super impressed with anything I’ve heard about that crew, and will leave it at that. Not bad people or anything, but not the Mannings let’s say.

Niblack's biggest issue was not being able to pick up the offense. Maybe his lack of immersion in the culture was a part of that, but if he could be trusted to play the position, he would have played.

If Gunnar didn't turn into what he did this year, he probably plays a bit more too.

Right now, somewhere, Sydney is almost certainly masturbating furiously to the confirmation of Niblack’s departure.

Why the hell would anyone want to be a part of our group? If I could find a better class of losers to hang out with, I’d have left years ago. We’re a confederacy of dunces if there ever was one.

They clearly thought the same in pursuing the Purdue TE. That said, the word all fall and continuing this winter is that unless someone is of seriously high caliber, they’re going to mostly stand pat. If they like what they’re working with this spring, it would take someone special for them to make a move. Agbo still being on the roster probably helps.

Wednesday deadline to tell the school. Friday (48 hours) deadline for the school to put the name in. Clearly the staff couldn’t convince him to stay so his name went up today

I mean- I think it’s like 15 or 20k a year per TE. Would you hang out with you for a mere 20k if you didn’t have to?

I'm sure he was set to receive considerably more than that as a likely potential starter, but it sounds like another school paid stupid money
