Texas fans defending the same Clay Travis who wrote attack articles against the Longhorns and generally just bad mouths us every chance he gets... Guess politics are really important to some people.

I don’t know if I was included in this or not, but in case I was, I didn’t defend anything. I don’t like the guy. I cited the reality, a fact that isn’t disputable by anyone paying attention, that that guy is connected to the Tennessee program.

If he’s talking about NIL shit that could involve Tennessee, only idiots would choose to ignore it because they don’t like the guy’s politics. If he’s providing a data point, and someone is involved with NIL and roster management, it is a dereliction of their duty to not incorporate it into their view of the landscape.

Moore’s camp has told Bobby Burton that Trey Moore is returning to Texas. Nothing set in stone, but that would be a big deal, IMO.

Nobody said anything about his politics. Just suggested he is generally a twatwaffle. The Tennessee connect is good to know.

He's just the counter balance to ESPN and honestly he's brilliant for figuring out there was a market. For the Achos and Willy Wonkas (Cam Newton) there is a Clay Travis. Give him credit he has made more money than us.

Monetizing idiots isn't commendable. Anybody can do it. Most normal people know it's beneath them and instead focus on creating genuine value for others through trust and mutual benefit.

Is that what the ESPN is doing these days?

Joke is on us... He may be a TE in name, but they might just use him in a Noah Thomas replacement role as a big receiving target with a wide catch radius to bring in those lobs from Reed.

BMDs aren't guys like LeBron who didn't even go to Ohio State, it's guys you probably wouldn't recognize if you saw them like Les Wexner for Ohio State.

For two weeks every three years.

I used to live there. There are several major industrial companies headquartered there, so I wonder if it’s a bunch of non-tech money from old gray hairs.

WOKE!

Smith would be a good test case for challenging the Clarett lawsuit from years back (would have to go back and re-educate myself as to how that all played out but clearly a different dynamic these days which might lead to a new avenue for a legal challenge).  He's physically gifted enough to play and make more in the NFL next year (not to mention start the clock for his 2nd contract) than anyone will realistically be able to pay in college unless someone wants to create an insane pay disparity dynamic as CTJ noted.

Who’s their main contributor? Seeing LeBron in the box at the game, was wondering what he’s throwing into the hat.

Lebron has lost nearly $40M the last two years with his production company, he's contributing jack and shit to NIL.

None of the dynamics have changed other than college football players now get paid.  The 3 year rule is collectively bargained and not subject to antitrust laws.  Neither the NFL or the NFLPA wants teenagers in the league.  It's the same basis for the 1 year rule for the NBA.  If anything, it's a less egregious rule now than it was in Clarett's days given the current freedom and money a college star has.

Just to be clear that's less than 8 percent of his NBA salary earnings alone and less than his salary this year or next year (2 year 101m) - reportedly he will earn another 85m in endorsements this year alone. Oh yeah and the billion dollar Nike contract he has is out there too.

If you think him losing 20m/year functionally impacts his over portfolio you at wrong.

It’s kind of like Texas in that you have booster contingents from the Big 3 cities plus a smattering from inside and outside the state.  That said, OSU is pretty much the only game in town (or state) outside of a TCU level support for Cincy in Cincy.  Every big dog in every shithole from Canton to Dayton supports OSU as opposed to competition from the likes of aggy or Tech in Texas shitholes.

Lebron’s current goal is to buy an NBA team when he’s done playing, 40 million might only be a small portion of his portfolio but it definitely matters when he’s trying to accumulate the money needed to purchase a franchise.

Just to be clear, that production company has made $0 in profits since he started it, with the $40M is a low end estimate to how bad he is losing money there and that only considers the past two years when the company was founded in 2020.

From Clay Travis to LeBron’s portfolio. Peak offseason

It's not just James' money in the company. James is a giant shareholder in the company, but they've raised over $140 million dollars from other investors, with a valuation at some point of over $750 million. I assume that LeBron has not personally lost a penny in this deal. And while the company has never turned a profit, it's had several hundred million in revenue.

What is the TAM of this production company?  What does ARR over the past 3 years look like on a CAGR basis?  Anyone care to share the DCF valuation model for the board to review?  How much impact has the increased WACC had on the valuation over the life of the company?  I think everyone will agree that these are the questions that deserve answers on the transfer cycle topic.

Well I hadn't read any of this before posting but apparently there was a symposium held discussing this and a recent article (even if written by idiot Dan Wolken).  Probably only a matter of time before it is challenged again by someone.

Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith ready for NFL now, should challenge rule

I'd be fine with it.  I'd love to have a dash of chaos in the NFL.  Just from what I remember of the Clarett case was it was pretty open in shut for the supremes.  Given that neither the NFL nor NFLPA wants it, the courts aren't going to force it upon them.  CBAs and anti trust laws clash across all industries, not just the NFL.

Per PFF prior to the natinoal champ game, re: Spindler..

The right guard hasn’t committed any penalties on 684 snaps this year.

Spindler hasn’t allowed a pressure on 41 pass-blocking snaps in the red zone this year.

For the schools like NC that have implemented true GM models, I assume they always report to the head coach and not the AD, and that their salaries are just a fraction of the head coach salary, and the AD salary. Is that correct? Will that be the same five years from now?

Still interesting since they were the third finalist for Pregnon. Helps clear competition for Rocco or Pat if UT is interested. I assume only Texas remains in the market out of the three Pregnon suitors.
