Moore’s camp has told Bobby Burton that Trey Moore is returning to Texas. Nothing set in stone, but that would be a big deal, IMO.

OK but it’s not $100 oil out there anymore, Tech

That was the year that the Big 12 ran through Lubbock?

And 94 was a 4 way tie.  Last outright conference title was 1956.  The border conference.  Hardin Simmons was a member of the border conference.

Of course it was actually a 4 way tie for second place.  Aggy had won but been caught cheating (shock).  Tech got the Cotton Bowl bid because it had been longer since a Tech appearance (never) than the other schools.  Tech valiantly represented the SWC by being boat raced by USC 55-17.  Game was over in Q1.

Losers of epic proportions.

Palo Alto to Lubbock

Probably will pull in 1.5X to 2.5X of whatever we were offering and likely more than he pulled in his entire time at Stanford combined.

After 6 months in Lubbock, he will declare for the NFL Draft or return to Pablo Alto to finish his degree, if he suffers a substantial injury.

If he picked Stanford 3 1/2 years ago, obviously possibly competing for a national championship in college was not a priority.

Campbell is a good dude and he could fund Tech NIL at a&m jimbo retard levels every year and not even blink, there's some other guys helping too. I did think it was funny how he thought just because CDC would take his phone calls and be cordial on the phone meant we were actually going to play Tech every year when we left.

He’s not a “good dude” for Texas. Outside of him showing up with embarrassing offers to land transfers in various sports, the guy has been behind legislature meddling on two fronts.

One, he’s actually tried to build a coalition that would force Texas to play in-state schools in non-cons across all sports, with a rotation format. Fuck him in every orifice for that alone.

Two, he’s been involved with trying to get Tech a share of the PUF or whatever it is called regarding the land UT owns and already shares, via legislature bullying years ago, with ATM.

So fuck that guy and his shitty university.

I doubt that a kid that went to Stanford as a top 40 recruit in the country is going to go to Tech. Michigan, UCLA maybe Florida but dirt Aggy isn’t pulling this type of kid.

I know he visited there but just don’t see it.

Nailed it.

this is the correct response.  Dude is a decent player but not worth the silly money he was allegedly asking for.  If he's the best available and texas has cash sitting around doing nothing...ok.  But otherwise?  Let Tech blow their load on this...

Let those morons spend all they want to try and get to 9 wins. McGuire fucking sucks as a HC. He ain't doing shit with anyone out of the transfer postal. When your last CC was in "94, you know no amount of money is getting you anywhebut middle of the pack.

Mike Leach would have made the playoffs if he were still there, but their idiot AD fuck him over, and now they're in an inescapable hell.

A frequent flyer has found a new home (if the surlyx images are still borked, Drew Pyne is heading to Bowling Green after Mizzou, Notre Dame, and Arizona State).

Savion Red is suddenly announcing that he’s going in the portal according to his instagram. Can’t wait to hear what that’s about.

Can we just call it a tie and let X be X again.

Please.  At least let it happen before Football season starts.

OTF - Bobby:

The final sentence, "Texas is expected to be highly and selectively aggressive in the portal," has me gruntled.

Thursday

The Longhorns are back on the practice field today.

Some news and notes based on what we’ve heard:

- Even though Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore have been sidelined for spring, don’t think they’re taking camp off. I’m told the duo, along with Manny Muhammad, have been working overtime watching film. Muhammad is somewhat famous for how much film he takes in. Moore and Wingo seem to be doing the same this off-season, including all three watching film together to give each other a view of what the two sides of the ball are seeing and reacting to.

- One of the early surprises of spring had been Zina Umeozulu. As we reported on Tuesday, Zina suffered a thumb injury that required slight surgery. He’s back at practice now. Despite the injury and despite the high-level of talent at the edge position, Zina could be one of the breakout players of the defense in 2025.

- True freshmen Kade Phillips and Graceson Littleton continue to impress in the secondary. Yet it’s too early to tell if they’re going to find their way into the lineup and/or rotation. I was told there’s a lot of very talented players in the Texas secondary. It’s all about finding the right mix and the ones who play together.

- Cornerback Warren Roberson was also singled out as having an improved spring. Roberson appears more “dialed in”.

- I’m told that running back Christian Clark, who Sark spoke highly of on Tuesday during the media availability, is clearly challenging Jerrick Gibson for the no. 2 RB spot behind Tre Wisner. Any one thinking Gibson has the spot locked down needs to think again.

- I asked one source about why we’re hearing so much positive feedback on freshman receiver Daylan McCutcheon thus far, especially in light of the other talented freshmen receivers on campus.

”He plays fast. He plays with a purpose, with an understanding of doing his job,” the source said.

- Arch Manning is asserting his leadership style into the team. Sark talked about that on Tuesday. I’m also told that Trey Owens is having a solid spring camp, too, and can be just as feisty as Manning. In other words, there’s a little smack talking going on from time to time at the QB position to the defense.

Also: I’m told that on the somewhat limited reps they’ve had through 7 practices, both Manning and Owens are more willing to let it rip over the middle in the red zone. Both players are not only taller than Quinn Ewers, both have higher arm angles. That’s something to monitor to see if the middle of the field actually becomes more of a focus for Sark and the Horns in the red zone in 2025.

- Coaches and support staff are busy internally preparing for a significant recruiting weekend as well as the portal opening on April 16. Texas is expected to be highly and selectively aggressive in the portal.

Give me a RB, WR, K and Center. Preferably past All Americans.

Yeah, something in the red zone needs to get more than just "focus".

Oh sweet, it's something already on this page but with less information and worse formatting!

This dude was 15-15 in 2023 and 15-19 in 2024. Gotta have him and send Bert Auburn packing.

Take it easy, Tex. That qualifies as like a top 10 all time post for 6th Street.

Gerry later says it's football. But what a crazy thread to start lol

Also the player is Emmett Mosley V

Was a true freshmen last year.

He played really well down the stretch.  In his last three games he had 26 catches, 332 yards, and 6 TDs.

And Stanford had abysmal QB play

Yeah, take him and keep looking for the productive speedster.

Gruntling. I'm probably dumb for thinking this way, but I always assume that Stanford players will be hard workers / good culture fits.

Looks like Sark actually offered the Mosley kid in August of 2021. So the staff has known of him for some time. His tape is nice, he reminds me of Matthew Golden. Super smooth and controlled, so much so that it makes their game speed on tape look slower. Yet they create a ton of separation.

Could be a good underneath and red zone receiver for us. Catches the ball with hands very well, does great job using his body in traffic, finds spots in zones and always good to have a guy who can do that to move the chains especially with inexperience at tight end.

He’s smooth, reminds me of Moore but he’s a little taller

He looks pretty good. A floor raiser at the least.

Sort of a Jaden Greathouse deal there. I could see a guy who is really good at getting open and catching the ball doing some damage in this offense.
