Cal is still working on him and his parents and family have been heavily invested in the team/family culture and activities (he is local to Cal, HS was like 30 minutes away). All that said, if Texas or Alabama really want him, he would be well served for development and future NFL draft positioning to look their way. We'll see.

Interesting that they are done at receiver. The only question is if you can categorize Baxter as healthy. I am not counting on him being a contributor, at least early next season. But Clark coming back so soon has reduced the critical need. So the only remaining question is do you take a RB just to be absolutely sure you have 6 healthy guys.

He was a good soldier. He maximized. There were 5 or 6 ends better than him at the time he left so he wasn't getting any playing time.
April 15Apr 15 Terrance Brooks is the only starter I can think of. Well Jerrin Thompson. But we know the stories there.

April 15Apr 15 Logan Parr and Jamier Johnson are the most successful expats that I’m aware of, but neither were guys that we minded losing. Parr had a couple All-ACC years for SMU and made the playoffs last year Johnson started last year for Indiana and made the playoffs. It’s now a weird situation because they recruited a couple CBs in the winter portal window despite returning both starters and Johnson is now not with the program I haven’t seen Niblack’s name mentioned yet. I’d have liked to keep him another year, but it’s probably not a big deal. Hopefully that works out like Terrance Brooks Edited April 15Apr 15 by Bodacious Bevo

I think in a theoretical world where he wasn't a diva, sure. But that wasn't how it worked out in real life so i'm pretty sure either the door wasn't open for him to return or we didn't do anything to keep him from walking out said door. There are some guys that played fine elsewhere that we kept, but I really don't recall a time where we lost a guy the coaches wanted and none of what's being brought up here counts.
April 15Apr 15 Alford at ASU has done well, but again not a player we tried particularly hard to keep, iirc.
April 15Apr 15 Wasnt Brenon Thompson OU's top WR at some point last year? Not bothering to look up sooner stats He's a guy that if he was still here would be in the way on the depth chart. We've come a long way from the Casey Cain days

April 15Apr 15 It would have been nice to keep Jared Wiley. He's a decent TE. Plus I just can't shake the sneaking suspicion that he gave TCU an edge against our offense in 2022.
April 15Apr 15 At some point the 2022 class deserves a retrospective. It’s kind of weird - the OL haul played a major role in our return to prominence, but the rest of the class busted pretty hard and has left us young and inexperienced. The only non-OL/ST that contributed as juniors or remain on the roster for their senior years are Jaydon Blue, Jaylon Guilbeau, and Ethan Burke. Hitting on 3 of 19 non-OL/ST is pretty poor. A lot of coaches wouldn’t have been able to survive such a high bust rate in their first class. Just a weird class with a lot of interesting dynamics. Sark’s first full class, last class before the full SEC and NIL effects, highly ranked but immediately followed by a class that could go down as an all-time great, etc. Something more relevant to current transfer discussions is high school WR recruiting under Sark. It’s probably the second worst position haul in his tenure. I think it’s fair to say it’s disappointed compared to initial expectations given the reputation of Sark’s offense and the accolades his WRs have won. 2021 (transition): Xavier Worthy, Jaden Alexis, Keithron Lee, Casey Cain 2022: Brenen Thompson, Savion Red 2023: Johntay Cook, Ryan Niblett, DeAndre Moore 2024: Ryan Wingo, Aaron Butler, Freddie Dubose, Parker Livingstone 2025: Kaliq Lockett, Jaime Ffrench, Michael Terry III, Daylan McCutcheon The ‘21 class can be entirely excused imo. The only guy that was really his was an all-time great for us. ‘22 was horrific. Only 1 of the 3 in ‘23 is still playing the position for us. ‘24 looks like it could be really good, with one guy looking primed for a huge year and Ryan Wingo looking good too. Early returns on the ‘25 class seem better than the ‘21 - ‘23 classes, at least. There are some mitigating factors, of course. WR coaching issues the first two years, NIL allocation decisions across positions, the portal, etc. These just aren’t the results we were expecting when we hired Sark.

April 15Apr 15 Seems like we should go all out for the Cal TE and the Texas St. kicker. Then get 1-2 more DTs and call it a day.

Tatum is another 5 star that went to OU and busted. It’s becoming hilarious. He added weight last year to get tougher. He lost a half step and got a severe high ankle sprain in the first half of game 1 and with Cal’s OL softer than wet dogshit, he had a terrible year. This year, he dropped the 10 extra lbs and he was “back” to his old self. Explosive and with the new OL and vastly improved OL coaching, he looked like he could have a big bounce back year. But going to BlowU? Smh he is a plus pass protection blocker and if he isnt the best pass catching rb in the nation, he is up there. His running style is very patient, he waits for holes to develop and when they do, he hits the gap hard. The question is, does Okie have an OL that will match his style? I’m not super optimistic for him. A really puzzling choice but I guess he clicked with Murray after his old RB coach left Cal and he needs that mentorship. Or something. He probably regrets turning down almost 7 figures from Georgia last year and thinks Oklahoma somehow makes him a better pro prospect cause he definitely left some money on the table in Berkeley to go to Norman. Whatever…
