It's absolutely ridiculous that it coincides with the playoffs (and give me a break about spring semester nonsense, figure it out). It got a lot of publicity last year when Malik felt like he had no choice but to leave before the Sugar Bowl. Wait until this year when it impacts all 12 or at least 8 teams. Just wait until someone playing for the title deals with injuries and is impacted by losing key depth pieces they should have on the roster because the powers that be in college athletics are absolute morons.

Let’s just go get some rough country boys who want to be Longhorns and send ‘em to Junction to get tough and learn how to bleed burnt orange for their school! November 28, 20241 yr I have no idea but I imagine our NIL guys know market value of a good corner or player at their position. I also imagine they up their NIL agreements after the season. This happens every season where players start expressing their displeasure with their pay through vague tweets. We saw this with Barron, Worthy, etc. Texas has proven they know how to retain talent. There’s also guys like Terrance Brooks that think they are good and are told to go explore the market and they end up at places like Illinois… I feel like Texas, Oregon, and Ohio State are the best at roster retention and taken acquisition. It is no surprise those are the top 3 teams in college football. I imagine this will be the case for years to come. Edited November 28, 20241 yr by victory88

What I love is that of the top program in having functional NIL, 1 we are the only one in our conference and 2 the only one in the South in general. Say what you want, but location still does matter and access to talent is still key. In many of theses cases the “tie” goes to home and when battling the big dogs of NIL Texas is still considered home (either through locale or through conference affiliation) for a large swath of the elite talent every year.

It's giving me the full article. --------- The Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up for a big game on Saturday when they face Texas with an SEC title on the line. While the Bulldogs have their full attention on the Longhorns, it appears one Bulldog will not be part of that preparation. Georgia cornerback Julian Humphrey announced on social media that he plans to enter the transfer portal. Humphrey would be leaving Georgia after starting 10 games this season but falling out of the lineup in recent weeks. "First and foremost I would like to thank the man above for everything he has done for me, and I will forever be grateful for everything! I also wanted to say thank you to all of the loyal UGA fans along the way. Thank you" Humphrey wrote on social media. "With that being said, after careful consideration I will be entering my name in the portal with 2 years left of eligibility." Humphrey began the 2024 season as Georgia's starting cornerback opposite of Daylen Everette, but Humphrey lost the role in Week 12 against Tennessee. An early defensive pass interference call led to Humphrey being pulled in favor of Daniel Harris, and Humphrey backed up the sophomore for the next game. He did not see the field against Georgia Tech in Week 14. Humphrey recorded 10 tackles and 4 pass break-ups in eleven games. Humphrey redshirted during his true freshman season in 2022 but played a bigger role as a reserve in 2023. He appeared in nine of the first 10 games for the Bulldogs and really made his mark against Missouri, when he had a pair of tackles and a pass break-up in Georgia's 30-21 victory. Humphrey seemed to turn the corner against Missouri, but the next week he suffered a significant setback. Humphrey hurt his collarbone against Ole Miss, which was an injury that ultimately forced him to miss the rest of the season. Humphrey toyed with transferring after the 2023 season with hopes of getting closer to his hometown of Houston. Ultimately, the Georgia coaching staff convinced Humphrey to stay put. "I talked to Kirby and Muschamp and Coach Donte, and they were saying this is a big year for me. This could be my year to come out and have a good year," Humphrey said in March. "I thought about it, and I wanted to be developed rather than just be down there for one year to say I'm close to my family. I stuck it out here because the development part is one of a kind compared to other schools." The NCAA transfer portal does not officially open until Dec. 9. Come that date, student-athletes will be able to enter their name up until Dec. 28. A player can withdraw his name and return to his respective school if he so chooses. If Humphrey leaves Georgia ahead of Saturday's game, it would leave the Bulldogs with five scholarship cornerbacks. Those would be Everette, Harris, Ellis Robinson IV, Demello Jones, and Ondre Evans. The Bulldogs also have other defensive backs who have spent time at corner such as Chris Peal.
