Moore’s camp has told Bobby Burton that Trey Moore is returning to Texas. Nothing set in stone, but that would be a big deal, IMO.

Sounds about right. I have no clue why people thought Murphy was good this year. Duke's offense was below average and winning games because of their defense.

There were actually people that thought he was going to get paid by a big program.

No idea if you've ever been there, but Miami is in Coral Gables, not South Beach.  Like USC isn't in Hollywood and UCLA isn't in Malibu.  Or San Pedro.

To be fair, he’s coming from Pullman.

And they play in a half empty stadium. Nobody there gives a shit about them except a few really rich dudes. I don't believe their coach hosts any recruits for games.

I know the point you’re trying to make, but Hollywood is not an upgrade over USC campus and Westwood >>>> Malibu unless you enjoy overcast skies half of the summer.

It’s seems like the cost of a portal player is way more expensive than a high school recruit.

I think everyone understands that recruits are 90% of the time requiring development, and you’re paying for potential.

paying for players is straight up production/versus need/versus resource availability.

And Coral Gables is really nice, too. The only mid neighborhood in there is USC's (nice campus, though).

Retaining rosters is more expensive than portal and high school combined.

If you’re going to pursue productive, proven players from the portal, you need plenty of capital. That said, LSU is doing okay in the portal and they’re relatively poor. When you get below the very elite in the portal, the numbers appear to come off pretty quickly

Some programs are betting more on projects or failing pedigree or G5 and FCS players. That route isn’t expensive at all.

As in high school recruiting, some idiot with a lot of money can impact various recruitments. The DT from UCF is a good player, just like Damonic Williams was a good player. Neither guy is worth $1M+ and there are others near their replacement values or that can be combined to get to replacement value who cost a fraction of their numbers.

Oregon spent big on positions of need last year, wiping everyone else out. Some of those guys hit and will be high draft picks. That’s a level above what the idiots at Tech and LSU and OU have tried.

UCLA’s campus is as nice as it gets.

People rip on the ghetto beyond the USC campus but you don’t deal with it or notice it while there.

If we’re talking scenic and warm, I don’t know how one beats Pepperdine in Malibu.

Eric Singleton was the 1,078th ranked player coming out of high school. Nice increase in payday for him and kudos to him for developing himself into a hot prospect.

Gotta be that or UCSB.

I am just guessing, but…if a school like Tech overpays for a good-not-great DT, won’t the NIL agents get in the ears of other (good to great) DTs languishing on rosters without retention funds dedicated? Wouldn’t that drive more DTs out into the spring portal?

You: its so offensive to suggest players are "only as valuable as his alumni network allows him to be"

Star CFB athletes: sign onto teams for 6-7 figure NIL payouts donated by alums

You: how dare you dismiss players' aspirationsand value of education

Maalik: leaves Duke for official visit to the University of fucking Kentucky

Who knows? Your premise suggests that an overpayment to one player by one team resets the market for all players for all teams, or that Tech and Oregon will just go ahead and sign 50 DTs apiece. So, sure, maybe some of that happens. Good luck to those agents and DTs expecting everyone else to do stupid shit like Texas Tech, I guess.

Well, that’s a shame.

I haven't seen anything on this guy, but was at LA Tech and 247 has him as the #2 DL in the portal.

I would put Tech in the same category as someone like a Michigan State or a South Carolina. Big enough brand and alumni network that they can retain a seat at the table if they have one, but not big enough to muscle their way in if they don’t. Their fundamental problem is that the SEC and B1G seats are now thrones and all other seats have a wobbly leg.

So the only real option is to try to spend their way into long term relevance. They are lucky that they have sugar daddies willing to do that. An interesting aspect of the current landscape is that there will be programs that are not traditional powers that can gain relevance just by virtue of a fortunate NIL situation. SMU, UNC, maybe Duke - programs like that.

Obviously we are not in yet in the final form of college football. One day the music will stop, and every program will be on one side or the other of a line drawn in the sand. It’s easy for us as Texas fans - we were born on one side of the line and we’re going to stay there forever. Tech knows that they have spent their whole life hanging around in the vicinity of the line.

You are so stupid, it's painful. You're like Ted Cruz at a sporting event, whenever you show up the entire fucking board collectively groans  throws their fucking hands up.

Im not even going to correct all the shit you got wrong, even with basic quoting of positions, in your latest post. You're basically an idiot child who argues with himself in a corner, and the rest of us have to deal with the stench as you shit and piss yourself with the consistency of a swiss watch.

We'd all be better of if you'd go back asking for help figuring out which outdoor pizza oven provides the best BTU's per dollar value.
