The Aggie graduate announced via Instagram his intention to enter the 2025 NFL draft, marking the end of what has been one of the more unusual college careers.

I don't see them being able to do that moving forward unless DeBoer starts winning big.

They committed more than they currently have in NIL for the 2025 class as some sort of notion putting on a happy face. Then the rumblings of cracks in the facade started with possible transfers ahead of the bowl game and Byrne starts publicly begging for money. They’re not in a good spot, clearly, so they’ve begun pushing a narrative to anyone who will listen in the media that CFB is broken and politicians need to intervene to save it, or the conferences need to align and anoint Nick Saban as a benign and even-handed, highly paid commissioner.

January 3Jan 3 Marvin Jones is a head scratcher considering how quiet we've been in the portal. That's pretty much the last position of need imo outside of QB

January 3Jan 3 Let me start by saying he has regressed from last year. But what do you consider a "gimme" in college? Bert was 9 of 9 inside of 40 yards before the one he missed one to win it the other day. Do you consider 40-45 yards a gimme? These are college kids, not pros. Place kicking has come so incredibly far in the last 20 years that I'm not sure anyone remembers when 50-52 yards was considered the far end of NFL kickers range. Place kicking is so technical and can be just like golf with the yips. Or when you line up over a putt and the hole looks the size of a ball. It happens. These kids aren't pros. But there's a reason I tell my 13 year old if he can kick the ball consistently from 45 yards he can get a scholarship to a good school. He's in 7th grade and is pretty solid from 32 and in right now.Hash marks in college are also much wider than in the NFL. The implications of this are way more than just kicking field goals, but it definitely makes a difference if you’re kicking from way out wide.
January 3Jan 3 He also added this morning on Coffee & Football that he expects visitors on campus this weekend.

They have won and won big over the last 15 years. They are spoiled as hell and believe they are entitled to the wins, the playoffs, the best players, and the media accolades. They have forgotten what it is like to be average. I am related to a few lifelong Bama fans and they are not taking reality very well. And you know...fuck 'em.

January 3Jan 3 Moore seems like he should be gone. He played well early. He got stats starting from about the half way point, he’s not getting any bigger, not sure what the point in him coming back is unless he’s switching positions to something more NFL friendly ala Barron this year, which maybe? I’d think gone but who knows.

That's a steep drop-off. These aren't anything past 40 yards, these are 40 and closer. Bobby even mentioned he spoke with a former Longhorn kicker who even said Bert is in his own head and he has to figure it out. 9 days from now I don't think the bulb is just going to come on for him. In his defense, he was coached by Alex Grinch who didn’t teach or develop anyone else there. Pre-injury, would compare to a less athletic Xavier Filsamie. Now? Its anyone’s guess.

January 3Jan 3 I mean, without knowing the cost it sounds to me like both Branch bros would be solid additions with our needs. Obviously depends on the $ but at least neither part of the package deal is a total waste here. He'd probably get better without that garbage USC defensive coaching too
January 3Jan 3 20 hours ago, Hookem2147 said: IT on Noah Thomas Noah Thomas, a 6’6” wide receiver from Texas A&M, has entered the transfer portal, drawing significant interest from several top programs. In the 2024 season, Thomas recorded 39 receptions for 574 yards, averaging 14.7 yards per catch, and scored 8 touchdowns. His standout performances include a 5-catch, 124-yard game with 2 touchdowns against Auburn and a 6-catch, 109-yard effort with a touchdown against Arkansas. Thomas is originally from League City, Texas, and attended Clear Springs High School, where he first made a name for himself as a dynamic receiving threat. He was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, boasting an On3 rating of 89.28. He was ranked as the No. 65 wide receiver in the nation, the 57th player in the state of Texas, and 379th player nationally. His size, athleticism, and red-zone ability make him a highly coveted prospect. Programs such as USC, Miami, and Georgia are pursuing Thomas aggressively. Texas has also shown interest, having reviewed his film and reaching out to gauge interest. While Texas appears intrigued by what Thomas could bring to the program, they may not be as “all-in” on his recruitment as the other schools listed. The Longhorns’ level of involvement may depend on roster needs, how well Thomas fits into Coach Sarkisian’s system, and the competitive landscape of other offers. Miami could be an outlier in this recruitment due to questions surrounding its quarterback situation. Stability at the QB position is often a critical factor for wide receivers, and this uncertainty might affect Thomas’s decision-making process. Adding a player of Thomas’s caliber could enhance Texas’s receiving corps, particularly in red-zone situations and as a vertical passing threat. However, to secure his commitment, Texas will need to make a strong case in the face of intense competition from programs like USC and Georgia, who are likely offering aggressive NIL packages and emphasizing their offensive systems. This would be different for Sark going with so many tall receivers and without a straight burner. That receiver corps would make more sense for this year's team with a QB that's best suited for underneath and intermediate possession receiver throws. Arch has already shown he's a great deep ball thrower. Bond's production in Arch's 3 games was way higher than any of the other games. It may be close to his total production from all the other games combined. Gotta think Sark wants speed coming in to pair with Wingo and Moore. Although this dude would be hilarious to add, especially if he bails on Aggy and becomes a star here next season.
January 3Jan 3 Doesn't Zachariah Branch have issues with catching? I really wanted him for his speed earlier in the season, but someone on here mentioned he's fast but can't catch.

Thomas is pretty damn athletic for his size. Why do you think he's not a downfield threat? That's exactly who he is. He's a more athletic Collin Johnson. Thomas is also a very good blocker on the perimeter. In all likelihood, we are going to be running more to the perimeter next year with Arch.

January 4Jan 4 This kid, being an early enroller was invited to practice a couple weeks with Oregon as they got ready for CFP game. Apparently he decided the other QBs were too good and he didn't have a shot at being QB1 anytime soon so wants to go elsewhere. What a joke.

Apparently he decided the other QBs were too good and he didn't have a shot at being QB1 anytime soon so wants to go elsewhere. What a joke. There is a bit more to it than that. He was locked into Cal and was set to sign and supposedly, Cal's current QB called him the night before and talked shit. Pissed off, he surprised everyone, including Oregon coaches, by signing with Oregon the next morning. Mendoza then promptly leaves Cal (why the fan base hates his guts now- leave if you want but fuck you for sabotaging on your way out) and JKS is in Oregon. Now Mendoza is gone and Cal has been backchannelling to have him come in anyways as a transfer. Oregon is spinning it that he saw the competition in Eugene and is leaving for Cal because he will start but Cal is getting a 2nd portal QB because they only have 2 QBs on scholarship currently and they both suck so it is not 100% guaranteed they hand him the ball day 1 (Devin Brown is being whispered about as the other guy). Did he see the Oregon QB room and decide to leave? Maybe. But Cal is "supposedly" where he wanted to go so its not a huge surprise if he goes back. All allegedly, of course.
