I get it. Young women terrify you...And luckily for you, they are nicer than men.

Geez guy. Jimmyjaz says I’m pushing a stupid narrative; bad_teammate says I’m obsessed; Biff Tannen says something about fear (I’m assuming that was directed toward me); and you say I’m a shitbag. Just because you guys post on Surly doesn’t mean that you have to be surly at all times, under all conditions.

And you really shouldn’t make the false assumption that I’m terrified of young women. I raised a daughter from the age of four through early adulthood—and I did so by myself due to some unfortunate circumstances. As a result I’m probably more familiar with the female demeanor than the average guy, and, despite being raised by a “shitbag”, she turned out to be a well-adjusted woman and a successful professional. As an aside, she is also quite liberal.

It is no coincidence that the biggest period of economic growth in world history occurred with a massive gender gap in favor of women.

Well, since this world prosperity was due to a massive gender gap—and the gender gap is the direct result of 10s of millions of men killing themselves off—shouldn't the men get the majority of credit?

It’s drfinitely some kind of weird sex thing.

How do you explain all the white knights in here defending her if she’s so inconsequential (she is)?

She’s a flibbertigibbet who says stupid stuff. Making fun of politicians who say stupid stuff is fun. The biggest thread in here is dedicated largely to that.

Remember Rob Ford? He didn’t matter at all. But he was fun as hell to make fun of.

I turned to Fox News on the radio today and they spent 10 minutes on this girl.  It’s a bit much.

I don't know, maybe it's because he was a loudmouthed child of privilege and he gave us a bunch of reasons not to take him seriously?

Do you really struggle with this?

I’m not struggling with anything. I like making fun of stupid politicians. She’s one of them.

Rob Ford wasn't even American, comrade. Your handler needs to get his shit straight.

Normal people don’t use the word flibbertigibbet.  That sounds like something Ted Cruz would say when trying to imitate humor.

Big difference between “defending AOC” and “mocking the 14 year old teenage girl level hissy fits being thrown by republicans over a 28 year old freshman rep from the Bronx”

One is trying to defend stupid stuff she says and the other is trying to wonder how she got in. Then I look at trump and wonder the same thing.

Good Ol' white boy network is super scared of a wee little brown girl.

This is bullshit, as has been pointed out. She is a random local politician who won a longshot primary against a member of the leadership and represents a new generation. AOC got national attention for being a 20-something bartender who beat Joe Crowley, not because of anything a party functionary says.

National party chairs don't annoint shit. If they did, Jeb Bush would have been the GOP nominee in 2016.

Anyway, go bartenders.

The women and millennials and "Sure, Jan"s of the world love themselves an IG Clapback Queen. It's a natural thing that as society devolves, politics, as a reflection of society and made up and voted by same society, will devolve with it.

I expect more Trump's on the right side and more AoC's on the left side because that is what America is. We aren't a great nation of great thinkers and great people. We are old, racist white people on one side and poor, entitled bar tenders of color on the other, with a shrinking middle of BIG BRAINED CENTRISTS.

You are an impressive machine of garbage production.

Equating AOC and Trump is hilariously stupid, even for someone as dumb as you.

At least he finally admitted he's an old racist white person.  That was obvious.

Donald Trump:
- Literally cannot consistently tell the truth about virtually anything.
- Profoundly and proudly ignorant of basic governance.
- Quick to anger and lashing out.
- Has no real genuine policy ideas or beliefs.
- Compulsively uses social media as a way of emotionally venting and crisis management.

AOC:
- Hasn't been shown to be dishonest on either large or small scales
- Is sassy online sometimes.
- Thinks governance is important and actively seeks to learn about it.
- Has very strong policy ideas and beliefs.

Big brain centrists,as you have tried to derisively call it, can take a step back and see it’s a problem on both sides.

Define "it's".

Old white racists clinging to power as they and their way dies out and the new hordes of young, entitled poor people demanding the old racists buy them things with their old racist money they’ve manipulated the system into giving them, are both un-American (to the extent anyone can even distill what is American anymore, with the changing culture and myriad of regions and people who have competiting values, etc.).

If the 1% have manipulated the system to take the capital for themselves, how is it "un-American" to call for an equalized distribution of that wealth? Be specific.

republican base is non college whites and people with dementia, you're going to need to get more comfortable with not seeing yourself as the rational upper middle class

So the young, entitled poor people are demanding the old white racists "buy them things" in the same way the old white racists demand that young, entitled poor people fund their retirements because their generation was irresponsible with the programs created for them?

My god, you are a caricature. You cannot be a serious person.

This has been the GOP strategy for 30 years.  Vilify the opposition as evil.  Once they got churches to start convicing people that voting dem was a sin, their rise to power was inevitable.  It'll take another 30+ years to purge the party of dotard worshippers.

So a Congresswoman from the most liberal district in the USA is the other side of the same coin with the President of the United States?

You elected a dumbass shitbag on a national scale.  AOC, a nice person who admits she has a lot to learn, couldn't even get elected for most Democratic leaning districts, much less for POTUS or Senate right now.

You should really look at heavily conservative districts for her counter. What you'll find there is a representative who ran and won on openly racist pessimism, and who spouts false facts.  And you'll see that even districts which lean all the way left like AOC's elect hope while you elect hate.

There is no such thing as a big-brained centrist. You're just a fence-sitting coward that wants to watch the game but not play because you might embarrass yourself.

An ignorant statement.  The man in the funeral procession today could be considered a centrist on many fronts. Our political past is filled with those types of folks, up to around the 80's at least. The fringes today are fucking it up for the people who do want to find compromise on issues.

Oh! I forgot the best part, which is the tried and true "centrist" MO of tacitly choosing a side with pseudo-intellectual commentary (also known as "drivel") on various subjects that you think make you appear thoughtful, but in reality make you painfully transparent.

Then you openly pat yourself on the back and are genuinely shocked when people call you out on your bullshit.

This phenomenon is also known as the Tahoe Effect.

Why is she stupid again or is that a dog-whistle for something else? Because she fucked up her numbers in estimating the DoD's budget? How many junior congressmen/women have strongly pushed for an actual concrete plan to seriously address climate change? I'd argue every single one that hasn't is arguably stupid given that it's not going to take very long to see serious worldwide economic problems develop in the manner of a few decades, meanwhile I've heard several economic experts telling us it's only going to be a huge incentive to start working on this problem right now.

Are you really a dumb ass in real life, or just act like one here ?

This is why Fox News is obsessed with her.

This is why she’s minimized and mocked.

She’s terrifying.

This would seem to support the narrative that the left is trying to downplay AOC.

Besides, what else is the right going to write about?

I like her.  I don't know much about her other beliefs but I believe that we need huge investment in fighting CC.  So because of that I'm in on her.
