Mock drafts have ALWAYS been the worst of the worst sports commentary, the last refuge of those desperate to be taken seriously, feeding those who suffer the worst withdrawals from the end of the season. If Mel Kiper were an alcoholic beverage, he'd be Night Train; consumed only by those at or near rock bottom. 39 minutes ago, closetojumping said: I can't even believe Ewers vs. Howard is even a discussion. Good grief. I don't expect much from Ewers in the pros due to his fragility and self-sacking. I'll be surprised if he goes higher than the 3rd round because of those things, but he's got a whip, so that may be too much for someone to ignore. Watching him this season was frustrating. I'm kind of cheering for a Colt McCoy career where he's just not able to be an every week starter, but he can be a terrific backup in spurts. If that's the case, the guy could make $75M+ in a 10+ year career and look good doing it. The bust label would be avoided with a later round pick and that kind of career. I'll be shocked if Ewers becomes a top 10-ish starter for many years in the league. Given that I consider Ward and Sanders walking busts who will solve nothing for whoever drafts them, and guys like Dart to be flavors of the month, I think my description above for Ewers' career could make him the most successful QB in this draft. I wonder if there's some unheralded non-P4 or Div II QB that will go in the late rounds or undrafted that might make a career out of it. Nobody talks about those teams and players.

And with the results in Indianapolis, there are sure to be some risers (and fallers) on draft boards around the league. This is reflected in my second mock of the 2025 NFL Draft's first round, as I try things out -- including some shakeups at the top -- to see where the dominoes might fall. My first few mock drafts always have some aggressive swings -- which we often see in the actual draft -- and then I respond as I believe the teams might. Now, NFL franchises will address various needs in free agency -- which officially kicks off at 4 p.m. ET on March 12 -- and that will obviously impact how things play out at April's draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. But in the calm before the FA frenzy, here is my latest simulation of Round 1. Pick 1 Tennessee Titans Abdul Carter Penn State · Edge · Junior Let's just give Tennessee the best player at a high-impact position. The Titans obviously could consider a quarterback here, but my guess is they won't have one graded highly enough to select at No. 1 overall. Pick 2 Cleveland Browns Travis Hunter Colorado · WR/CB · Junior Hunter can come in and start at receiver or cornerback right away. He'd have a big impact at either position for the Browns. Pick 3 New York Giants Cam Ward Miami · QB · Senior He's a serious-minded quarterback with a big arm and the ability to grow into a dangerous pitch-and-catch combo with Malik Nabers. Pick 4 New England Patriots Armand Membou Missouri · OT · Junior LSU product Will Campbell is tough, but so is Membou -- and the Missouri tackle has less technique to clean up. Let's put a new face into the fourth pick of the draft, giving New England the best offensive lineman on my board. ERROR CODE: 110 Sorry! Something has gone wrong. Please turn off your ad blocker and refresh the page to view content. Refresh the page More Details Pick 5 Jacksonville Jaguars Tetairoa McMillan Arizona · WR · Junior The Jaguars are all in on Trevor Lawrence, adding another weapon on the perimeter to create their own version of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Pick 6 Las Vegas Raiders Jalon Walker Georgia · Edge · Junior With Tom Brady in the mix, look for the Raiders to start targeting prospects known for leadership and a love of ball -- guys like Walker. Pick 7 New York Jets Will Campbell LSU · OT · Junior Give the Jets credit: They keep trying to build the fronts. But that undertaking has produced mixed results. They swing again, and I think this one is a hit. Campbell's a player who can add toughness and football character to this lineup at right tackle. Pick 8 Carolina Panthers Mykel Williams Georgia · Edge · Junior The Panthers need pass-rush help in the worst way. In this simulation, they turn to an ascending prospect with a high floor, but the physically gifted Williams will need some time to maximize his intriguing skill set. Pick 9 New Orleans Saints Shemar Stewart Texas A&M · Edge · Junior The Saints could try to trade out if the board falls like this, but in this scenario, they make the risk/reward pick in Stewart. Hopefully, he can take the torch from Cam Jordan, who's turning 36 this summer. Pick 10 Chicago Bears Josh Simmons Ohio State · OT · Junior (RS) For the second time in three drafts, Ryan Poles takes an offensive tackle with the No. 10 overall pick (SEE: Darnell Wright in 2023). Pick 11 San Francisco 49ers Mason Graham Michigan · DT · Junior Graham doesn't offer the eye-popping traits that some prospects possess, but he's very safe and fits what the 49ers are looking for. Pick 12 Dallas Cowboys Ashton Jeanty Boise State · RB · Junior Jeanty is one of the best players in this draft. While this is a deep RB class, I'm guessing Jerry Jones will take a swing at special here over good later on. Pick 13 Miami Dolphins Nick Emmanwori South Carolina · S · Junior The Dolphins simply don't have many safeties under contract. Emmanwori provides elite traits and outstanding potential if the motor runs hot. Pick 14 Indianapolis Colts Tyler Booker Alabama · IOL · Junior I wanted to put tight end Tyler Warren here, but the opportunity to pair Booker with Quenton Nelson might be too enticing for Chris Ballard to pass up. Pick 15 Atlanta Falcons Mike Green Marshall · Edge · Junior (RS) The Falcons desperately need pass rush. Green absolutely dominated his competition en route to a huge 2024 campaign (FBS-high 17 sacks). He's an explosive, ready-made rusher with start-now talent. Pick 16 Houston Texans Kelvin Banks Jr. Texas · OT/OG · Junior PROJECTED TRADE WITH ARIZONA CARDINALS The Texans are officially in "win now" mode, as they trade up to grab a player who can improve protection at guard in Year 1 before eventually bouncing out to take over a tackle spot. Pick 17 Cincinnati Bengals Tyler Warren Penn State · TE · Senior The AFC is an arms race, and the Bengals are lucky enough to snare a do-everything tight end who adds another layer of danger to their offense. Pick 18 Seattle Seahawks Matthew Golden Texas · WR · Junior With Tyler Lockett as a potential cap casualty and rumors swirling that DK Metcalf could be traded, Golden becomes an easier fit here. ERROR CODE: 110 Sorry! Something has gone wrong. Please turn off your ad blocker and refresh the page to view content. Refresh the page More Details Pick 19 Tampa Bay Buccaneers James Pearce Jr. Tennessee · Edge · Junior Pearce is a slippery pass rusher with an explosive get-off -- that might be hard for the Bucs to pass up, considering their need for edge juice. Pick 20 Denver Broncos Colston Loveland Michigan · TE · Junior Building around Bo Nix is likely to continue to be a priority. An athletic pass catcher with good size could be high on the Broncos' wish list. Pick 21 Pittsburgh Steelers Will Johnson Michigan · CB · Junior The slide ends for Johnson. If he runs a strong 40-yard dash at Michigan's pro day, that will boost his stock. For now, he ends up taking his impressive ball talent to Pittsburgh. Pick 22 Los Angeles Chargers Kenneth Grant Michigan · DT · Junior Jim Harbaugh's quite familiar with this jumbo DT out of Michigan, and the Chargers need help up the middle. It's a perfect match. Pick 23 Green Bay Packers Jahdae Barron Texas · CB · Senior With CB Jaire Alexander seemingly on the way out, the Packers might run this card up to the podium. Pick 24 Baltimore Ravens Josh Conerly Jr. Oregon · OT · Junior PROJECTED TRADE WITH MINNESOTA VIKINGS The Ravens make a small move up the board -- leapfrogging the Rams -- to grab their long-term replacement for Ronnie Stanley at left tackle. Pick 25 Arizona Cardinals Luther Burden III Missouri · WR · Junior PROJECTED TRADE WITH HOUSTON TEXANS Arizona adds an underrated weapon to pair with Marvin Harrison Jr., helping to unlock the offense's potential. Pick 26 Los Angeles Rams Jihaad Campbell Alabama · LB · Junior The Rams are light at linebacker. Campbell offers a terrific blend of chase-down speed and third-down talent (in coverage and as a rusher). Pick 27 Minnesota Vikings Maxwell Hairston Kentucky · CB · Junior (RS) PROJECTED TRADE WITH BALTIMORE RAVENS Minnesota adds the buzziest cornerback coming out of the combine. Hairston lit up the track at Lucas Oil Stadium with a 4.28 40-yard dash. Pick 28 Detroit Lions Azareye'h Thomas Florida State · CB · Junior Detroit could go in a few directions here, but improving the back end with a long, physical, press-man cornerback might be the top priority. Pick 30 Buffalo Bills Walter Nolen Mississippi · DT · Junior Nolen's maturity has come into question in conversations I've had with some team sources, but his talent is undeniable. Pick 31 Kansas City Chiefs Nic Scourton Texas A&M · Edge · Junior Scourton has good size and toughness, plus the ability to make plays on all three downs as a dual-phase edge. March 3Mar 3 Notes from Brugler on Mays' podcast - Thinks Ward will go 1.1, just a matter of who's making that pick (Tennessee, Cleveland, NYG?) - Most scouts he talks to thinks Shedeur will fall out of the top ten, although Dane isn't taking that to the bank. He isn't in the top three QBs for some teams. Mays says some teams he talked to said Ward was better on the board work than Shedeur - Dane has no idea how much Abdul Carter's injury will affect his draft stock. Mays compares it to Julio Jones' injury in his draft year - Dane guesses that Cleveland trades back after someone else (he guesses NYG) takes Ward at #1. NYG is probably more desperate than Cleveland to get Ward because that front office and coaching staff is on the hot seat - Thinks top 20 for Nick Emmanwori - Armand Membou has a strong case to be the first OL drafted - Regarding Will Campbell's arm length, teams he talked to are split. Some still view him as a tackle, some think he's a guard but will give him a shot at tackle. Great workout and teams love his football character - Everyone is befuddled at the measurement differences between the senior/shrine bowl and combine measurements. The same organization does measurements for all three events. Did they have lower level workers doing the post season game stuff? Teams are deciding what numbers or averages to use. Teams can also bring players (on a limited number) of visits to get measurements that matter to them - "If you're NE and you have to take Membou or Campbell to start at LT day one", and Dane responds that it's close enough to where he'd ask his OL coach to work them both out and then decide - Asked who impressed him the most, and Dane first mentioned Grey Zabel, and thinks Houston would be a great landing spot for them. Thinks Houston would love to trade up for Will Campbell. Likes Jared Wilson at center, compares his situation to Jurgens. - Wonders if Shemar Stewart go as high as Carolina at #8? - The 2nd round WR group got more interesting after the weekend. Jaylin Noel could be WR5. Higgins was a basketball guy who didn't fully commit to football until later and could have some latent ability - Hairston was in the 1st round convo, but now likely solidified that, similar to Wiggins last year - Tyler Booker's testing disappointed, but positional drills looked good. Teams love Booker's football character - Malaki Starks had a weird combine. Terrible 3-cone, similar time to his DT teammate. Average 40, bad vert. Looked great in drills, with the highest MPH doing the drills. Typically a combine like this just reinforces your priors on a prospect - Shough, Ewers, and McCord stood out throwing among the QBs. Heard good things about all three in the interviews. Shough was awesome, and looked the best. Howard looked bad. The senior bowl was bad for Milroe, but some teams are still on him because of his upside - More divide than expected on Mason Graham due to unideal measureables. Interesting that the Michigan guys either didn't test well or didn't test at all - Asked about the RBs.. says you can talk about the RBs for an hour because he has 30 with draftable grades, he mentions the Va Tech RB really helping himself. Hampton is a top 25 pick, thinks it could be Denver. Awesome RB class; good value in every round. Some teams will double up on the position - Mentions Dont'e Thornton as an interesting size+speed deep threat WR - Tez Johnson had a terrible 40 time for his size, but had the highest MPH in drills, similar to Malaki Starks - The league loves Mason Taylor, thinks early second round - The OL as a whole looked great in positional drills - At DL, Ty Robinson stood out in drills. Best MPH number. Hears a very wide draft range; late 2nd to 5th round. Can fly to the ball, but can he get off blocks? - At LB, Kain Medrano looked good in drills and tested well. Really athletic for LB. Interesting early day three pick - Likes Caleb Ransaw, says he's like a mid round Jahdae Barron

Really athletic for LB. Interesting early day three pick - Likes Caleb Ransaw, says he's like a mid round Jahdae Barron I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I can't believe no one is mentioning Kelvin Banks in the top group.
March 4Mar 4 Nick Shook attended the combine and is talking with the host, Greg Rosenthal, about the combine. Nick Shook starts talking about QBs at this point. 29:03 mark Mentions about 4 or 5 QBs before he gets to… 30:34 QUINN EWERS N.S.- ”Quinn Ewers, I don’t know what’s going on with his arm… but, the… oh my god the lack of velocity. Seth Hennigan from Memphis…” Then Greg Roaenthal stops him and asks more about Quinn because he was under the impression that the NFL Network announcers were impressed with Quinn. So Nick Shook talks a bit more about Quinn, but he was so unimpressed that he was originally just going to say that one dismissive sentence. So Shook goes into a bit more detail… “Yeah, I’m telling you. Not good. It wasn’t good. I’m sorry, I’m sitting there and it wasn’t good. Inaccurate, not a strong throw. Not good. Not a good… just lack of velocity. The whole thing… Uhh Hennigan from Memphis…” https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/nfl-daily-with-gregg-rosenthal/id680904259?i=1000697355468 Maybe it was because they were talking with Sark while Quinn was throwing, but Nick Shook definitely thought that Quinn was “not good”.

He probably moved up as much or more than anyone. He is coming from pretty far back but definitely put himself in a position to be a mid-round guy. Cook finished as the top quarterback in every testing category, earning a Relative Athletic Score of 9.71 out of 10. That ranks him 30th out of 993 quarterbacks evaluated since 1987

You, however, have to turn the discussion into your victimhood, and then your dumbass can’t let it go. It’s a real mystery what’s going on here. You turn the circumstances, largely innocuous, into “OMG, here everyone goes again! this is so funny! why won’t they let it go and stop talking about me!” rinse and repeat, ad nauseum. And also, I negged Post Oak just now to your point, since it was deliberate trolling and not helpful.

March 4Mar 4 Derka, shut the fuck up. Stop replying to every single post. You're fucking ruining this thread by making it about you.
March 4Mar 4 oh and for the record, gunnar helm did some truly moronic shit when he injured himself early on at the combine and then spent the rest of the day performing poorly and injuring himself further. i’m sure that if he’s still injured and performs poorly at UT’s pro day, or worse, can’t run, that you’ll all come in here and issue mea culpas for all of the personal attacks thrown my way over my stating this completely reasonable take about a former UT football player, right? yeah, didn’t think so. but fuck me, right?
