July 1, 20241 yr I'm soaked in sweat just going out to my garage to grab something from the toolbox or car or whatever. Love me some Summer weather.
July 1, 20241 yr Hot AF today. "Wet Bulb" temperature up close to 91 in Houston today. Any WBT above 90 is considered "extreme" and people are encouraged to limit time spent outdoors.
July 1, 20241 yr Have a 2 week vacation lined up for the second half of July to mexico city so I'm hoping the next 2 weeks aren't ridiculous. Looks like dfw has a temperature break coming in 4 days too. Hopefully it lasts until.the 17th when we fly out. My tolerance has changed i think. I'll take this past June every year moving forward. Yes last week kinda sucked at right around 98-100 but it didn't feel oppressive to me. It's when it's 100 at 11am and 108 by 3pm where you'll hear me start screaming. So far so good. Hopefully I'll just be upset in August. I can handle 1 month a year of bullshit temps.
July 1, 20241 yr spent a week in vancouver and on the washington coast and when we landed at midnight on friday and stepped outside it was like a gut punch of humidity and heat. fuck this.
July 1, 20241 yr I did a 10 mile hike with a full pack yesterday morning out at Lake Georgetown. I started about 6:45am. The sun was behind the clouds until about 10am and it was tolerable. When the sun came out, I was not having fun. The last mile was brutal and I'm glad I had a car with AC.

I drank a lot of beer on Canyon Lake yesterday. The last hour wasn't that brutal because I jumped out of the boat and just floated in the water with a Mexican wide brim hat on my head. Sunburnt and a little drunk, I stopped off at a local restaurant for some catfish, fried okra and sliced tomatoes. I then punished myself this morning working out for the fried food and beer consumed. But seriously, drinking on the lake and fried food will get you through the summer with a smile.

Always the worst part of Summer trips to visit my wife's friends in Aspen. After a week spent in temps ~78/48 and dry, you land back in Houston and it's 97 and 100% humidity, an extremely unpleasant sensation that hits you the second you step into the jetway. Makes you start re-thinking your life choices on the drive back home from the airport.
July 2, 20241 yr Weeks like this always make me wonder why there haven't been more Texas bands or albums named "Ball Sweat"

July 2, 20241 yr ATL here but we need rain bad. My lawn is fried even with daily sprinklers and the trees have given up and are dropping leaves like it’s fall. I’m cleaning out the pool twice a day. Low humidity in June was very nice but the lack of rain really sucks.

We drove back from Vail a few weeks ago, and although the temperature shift was gradual, the geography/culture shift was not. We drove back on the back side of the Rockies through New Mexico and hit Amarillo from the west side. Even in northern New Mexico heading east to the Texas border there were plateaus, hills, extinct volcanos, rolling high grass praries, and other lovely features. As soon as we hit the Texas border it was a hell scape of desolate flat scrub and monoculture dotted with grain silos and Dollar Generals. The drive got better a bit latter, but that is some bullshit up there.

July 3, 20241 yr They get monsoon seasons out it the desert I was just. In Albuquerque and it dumped a shit ton of rain. It’s weird how it works for sure
July 3, 20241 yr This could go in a couple of threads, but heard this morning that the Permian Basin uses (or is primed to use) as much energy as the Houston metro area. I'm sure those bitcoin miners aren't a problem though.

July 4, 20241 yr We're in Santa Fe for the week and the weather is perfect. Summer trips like this remind me that I don't know where I'll retire, but it sure as shit won't be Houston.

Just have to get the family up to that area for a Christmas to show the, it’s not as bad as it seems.

July 5, 20241 yr Says the heat index is 95. What part of ft worth is thisYeah, the weather apps are wrong. It’s sprinkling and the breeze is cool. Amazing start to the weekend.
July 5, 20241 yr Yea it's cloudy and 70 in flower mound right now at 5pm in July. A cool north breeze. Feels like Oct-Nov Fuck ya I'll take it. Each day below 100 from July- August is a blessing. July 7, 20241 yr It's over 100f in the fucking coast mountains of Oregon right now. 113f yesterday set an all time high for my area, breaking a 120 yr old record just like in Death Valley. I've only seen it over 100f once in 25 years before this week. At least the ocean and rivers provide relief, but I'd still trade with Houston right now. Never thought I'd say that about a summer day.

July 7, 20241 yr True, I'd be wishing myself straight into the middle of hurricane season. I haven't been through one of those since Alicia.
July 8, 20241 yr Breckenridge was slammed this week. Crowds everywhere - gondola, hiking trails, bars etc. And roughly half of it felt like people from Texas escaping the heat.

I wasn't in Breck but I'm slumming at 9000 feet in the mountains between Golden and Nederland. It was 40 degrees this morning. It's supposed to get hot as fuck this week in Golden, but up here, it's 80s/50s. Went on 2 hikes yesterday. Playing golf this afternoon. I get to do this for an entire month before I have to go back to the Texas shithole. 4 more years until retirement in Colorado.

July 11, 20241 yr Gotta be good news in mid july when there has been 1 post in blastfurnace in the last 3 days and it's been about fucked up temps in Colorado. So far so good. This has been a decently hot summer so far but not blast furnace hot, at least with what it has been the past 2 summers. Even the 10 day is not awful and that takes us toward end of July. Then it's just worrying about August and maybe a week or 2 in Sept. One day at a time.

If it wasn’t 85f in your bedroom Monday night because you hadnt cleared all the tree from your window to be able to open it, I don’t want to hear it.
