Going to SLC for Kilby Block Party this weekend. Staying downtown. Festival is at the Fairground not far from downtown. I’ve pulled a list of 20 or so restaurant/bars close-ish to us from a variety of places. Wondering if there’s any “can’t-miss” places while we are in town. Probably going to rent a car one AM and drive up to Park City/Deer Valley before we head to Kilby.

I stayed in Park City last fall  for a weekend before heading up to Glacier/Yellowstone, I dug it. The obvious way to get there from SLC is via I-80, but I believe you could also go through Little Cottonwood canyon and over Guardsman pass into Park City from the back. I did that drive from Park City about 75% of the way to SLC before heading back. Some good hikes, and the leaves were in peak color change, so it was pretty scenic. Definitely not the quickest way to get to Park City however.

I spent a lot of time in SLC for work, but that was all before Covid, so I don't know what's changed. There are surprisingly some really nice breweries downtown. The Beer Hive is a great beer bar. Just pay attention to the idiotic alcohol laws there. Bottled beer can be any ABV, but draft has to be below 3% (or somewhere around there).

Lots of nice hiking trails close to the city. Ensign Peak is a nice one and it's a five-minute Uber drive away from downtown.

Park City is a beautiful area.

most beers in a can or draft are 5%.

Current Fish & Oyster is really good and the bar next door..."Under Current" is cool

I sat at the Copper Onions bar and had a really good meal recently. Get the Pork Belly https://www.thecopperonion.com/foodmenu

One would not think to get Sushi in a land locked town on the high plains but https://www.takashisushi.com/ is no fucking joke.

Yardbird here is good : https://www.prettybirdchicken.com/

I lived there six months last year. Food on the whole is just ok. I can't think of a can't miss place. They have a surprisingly good brewery scene. The drafts are limited to 5% as next2naus noted, but the cans are usually high octane and can be consumed inside the breweries. Roha Brewing Project near downtown is my favorite for the quality of the beer, though it's smaller and shabbier than some other breweries. For breakfast, my favorite spot was Park Cafe near downtown on the southern end of Liberty Park (a bad ass park btw).

I was going to post Takashi, but you beat me to it. I second the recommendation.

All of these are on my radar. Thanks!

Beer Bar was fun a couple of years ago. Owned by Ty Burrell from Modern Family. Solid Food and actual beer over 5% and a large list too.

Kids and wife just want to go to Spaghetti Factory when we go down.
