Trap. Or "Why does M. Knight Shyamalan keep getting allowed to make movies?"

Featured Replies

I can’t believe how bad this was. I kept waiting for some massive twist that would make everything make sense (The entire thing was a training exercise, Hartnett was actually working with the cops, etc.) Then it got even worse, and ended.

Ok so I watched this last night, and I'm still somewhat traumatized. Maybe one of the worst movies I've ever seen. So I check out rottentomatoes to get my confirmation fix.... and the fucker is at 57%. Some of the reviews are just glowing. One talks about all the amazing twists. "Shyamalan is completely in control of this brilliantly confined thriller, as you can tell he’s operating at a level of glee and mastery we haven’t seen from him since his heyday."

What the fuck? These are just bought and paid for reviews, right?

There’s a decent Shyamalan premise in here somewhere. Either make Harnett the killer in a big twist at the end that nobody sees coming or make everything think he’s the killer and it end up being someone else. But to broadcast that Hartnett is the dude IN THE TRAILER and then… just… make that the movie is so dumb. And that doesn’t even take into account the countless inexplicable choices made by every single character.

When I saw the decent RT score I figured there had to be a decent twist in there… oops.

Right off the bat you're like "Ok so Hartnett is obviously undercover or something. There's no way this is the actual plot of the movie." But then he starts pushing people down stairs and maiming people with deep fryers and shit. "Ok I guess not." Yep, that is actually the plot of the movie and it goes no deeper than that.

I also liked the world famous pop star hanging out at a random strangers' house with zero security. And the family completely oblivious to how obviously horrified she is to be there.

Right, I thought the same thing because of the trailer. There's going to be some bigger, better twist. But it just developed into a slapdash series of increasingly laughable scenarios whilst letting the director's daughter become the co-lead.

Just saw Caddo Lake.   Didn’t even know it was his.  Super unrecognizable cast other than Hank from breaking bad.   Nobody worth a damn decided to participate.

Anyways it was a mess of a movie and it was really difficult attaching yourself to anyone.

Just watched this with my wife. So bad.

I honestly think the "twist" was that there was no twist. Haha GOTCHA! Shamalayn is such a genius!

I kept expecting the daughter to end up also being a serial killer or maybe the wife was in on it. Have one of the girl's friends be tied up dead in the tunnel and the final scene reveals that the daughter did it.
