March 16Mar 16 Author I’ll take only the league every season and I’m feeling good about us getting that over the line in the next 6 weeks. But lack of depth and some of our starting 11 no-showing the last 3 months has really hurt us this week. FSG need to stop being cheap asses and upgrade the roster if we want to win anything next season.
March 16Mar 16 Wouldn’t be a proper cup final without Liverpool struggling to score a goal. This is tiring.
March 16Mar 16 Just hope we come back from the break and get a win against Everton because we're all going to start feeling really tight if that doesn't happen. I hope the moment is not too big for Slot. Perhaps spend the next two weeks figuring out how to get Diaz and Jota more involved. I think teams have figured out how to handle Mo. Add to that no TAA for who knows how long.

March 16Mar 16 So two yellows for time wasting and an extended var review. I wonder how far past 8 minutes this goes?

It’s already unforgivable that we didn’t take the Saudi money for Nunez in January and let City walk away with Marmoush. Jota, Nunez, and Díaz should ALL be gone.

March 16Mar 16 Author Losing to Qatar FC and Saudi FC in 5 days is a shitty week. happy for my Newcastle supporting friends but fuck Saudi Arabia 7 days a week.
March 16Mar 16 The most head-scratching part of this Chiesa saga is that he makes £150K/week. He’s the FIFTH highest earner in the entire squad and he’s been chained up in Slot’s basement for 6 months while we watch Darwin, Díaz, and Jota produce fuck-all week after week after week. Also painfully obvious how limited Szoboszlai is as an attacking midfielder against more physical and technical midfields. Invisible and passed around against PSG and put in a replica today. We need a creative #10 — a Coutinho-redux who can break down low blocks with his dribbling, passing, and outside shooting.
March 16Mar 16 Author No one plays with creative number 10’s any more. That position is extinct. Szobo got played around because he is worn out (has to attack and cover TAA and Grav defensively). Go watch him during our 5 league games in 15 days if you want to see what he is capable of.

Szobo got played around because he is worn out (has to attack and cover TAA and Grav defensively). Go watch him during our 5 league games in 15 days if you want to see what he is capable of. He has 17 G/A in 78 appearances across EPL and UCL with 18 big chances created as a midfielder who positions himself like he’s a forward when we’re in attack. The only consistent compliment you can give him across all of his minutes is that he’s a high-energy workhorse. So we paid £60M for a better-looking Jordan Henderson. We need more output from him if we’re playing donkeys like Nunez, Díaz, and Jota upfront. Harvey played 3 passes in 20 minutes (one for an assist) that I haven’t seen Dom try once this year. Szoboszlai is absolutely a critical part of our midfield rotation going forward, but he is not (for me) a nailed-on starter every week. He’s too passive drifting in & out of matches when we’re in possession and lacks technical ability on the ball. He can’t create space on the dribble and is mostly a lay-off merchant to the wide players. Somebody, at some point, needs to have some ambition to play through the middle.

The statistics don’t back up your argument that he doesn’t produce. He’s an extremely well rounded midfielder that is asked to do a ton in his current role. His recent drop off was totally predictable due to us playing so many high level matches in a short period of time.
March 16Mar 16 Seems disingenuous to post comparisons against “all midfielders” which includes players who don’t venture forward with any frequency. Compare his stats to other attacking midfielders or wingers (which is where he spends his time in possession, as evidenced by his heatmap) and you can plainly see his limitations.
March 16Mar 16 Author Comparing him to wingers (like I said there are very few out and out 10’s these days)? Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool’s Two-in-One Workhorse He covers areas defensively that wingers and attacking midfielders never track back to.
March 16Mar 16 Where he touches the ball is not substantially different from where players like Wirtz, Musiala, Cole Palmer, Bruno Fernandes, etc. find possession but his output is most definitely a step down. You can say he works harder out-of-possession than some of these players, but nobody looked at Szoboszlai in the Bundesliga and thought “we should get this guy for his pressing!” He played 70% of our UCL minutes and had 0 G/A in the last 7 matches in the competition and created 0 big chances in all of his appearances combined. The technicality of our forwards and midfield is a step-down vs. the likes of PSG, Arsenal (less so when it comes to forwards lately!), Barcelona, etc. and it’s something we need to solve for.
March 19Mar 19 @JamesPearceLFC Trent Alexander-Arnold targeting April return from high ankle sprain, while Ryan Gravenberch set to be assessed by Liverpool after leaving the Netherlands' squad due to an injury he suffered in the Carabao Cup final. #LFC
March 26Mar 26 Author Macca scored diaz goal and assist (scored last game as well) Darwin benched for two no names We have a week for everyone to get rested for us to kick the shit out of the Ev.

March 26Mar 26 It's sad but it's inevitable. Real Madrid is the ultimate destination for some players. I didn't think Trent was one of them given he's from Liverpool but maybe he was just ready for a change combined with playing with his buddy, Jude. It's like joining the Lakers.
April 2Apr 2 @JamesPearceLFC 10m #LFC line up v Everton: Kelleher, Jones, Konate, VVD, Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Salah, Jota, Diaz. Subs: Jaros, Endo, Nunez, Chiesa, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas, McConnell, Quansah. Alisson returned to training earlier this week, but was ultimately deemed unavailable for selection. Liverpool decided not to take any risks as they followed the concussion protocols. GK took a blow to the head playing for Brazil versus Colombia 12 days ago. As reported earlier in the week, the derby comes too soon for Conor Bradley, who isn't in the 20-man squad. Curtis Jones a surprise choice at RB - should certainly provide more attacking threat than Jarell Quansah. Played there in League Cup v Leicester last season. Edited April 2Apr 2 by mdmost
April 2Apr 2 Author The post Trent future with our current squad. No one to unpick a lock besides Salah who is doubled team and trying to play the ball to dumb and dumber.
April 2Apr 2 It's amazing how useless Diaz and Jota have become. Time for Gakpo to come in. I'd like to see Chiesa. You know what Darwin will give you which is not much.
April 2Apr 2 That was Jota's first goal since January. We need him to come alive. It can't only be Mo.
