Maybe we should act like Arsenal fans and go cry in the EPL thread. LOL

Might be time to recall guys like Alfie Devine, Jamie Donley, and Dane Scarlett just to have some options on the bench.

I was just about to ask who we might bring back that could contribute

Can't say this isn't earned

That account is pretty brutal, they had a tweet the other day about some deliveries being missed and Kai Havertz starting as a driver that day.

Well I guess we might as well pack up Ange's office now

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jan/20/postecoglou-on-thin-ice-at-tottenham-but-levy-still-hoping-for-turnaround

Quote

Daniel Levy intends to give Ange Postecoglou the opportunity to revive Tottenham’s fortunes, with the under-pressure manager set to remain in charge for this week’s matches against Hoffenheim in the Europa League and Leicester in the Premier League, although the situation is precarious.

Levy would normally be expected to sack a manager who has presided over a league run of five points from 10 matches, as Postecoglou has done to leave the club languishing in 15th place. The 3-2 defeat at Everton on Sunday was the latest low, with Spurs 3-0 down at half-time to a team that had scored 15 goals in 20 previous league matches this season. Their rally towards the end did not obscure the faultlines.

Their form is unacceptable and Levy knows it better than anyone. But the chairman can see that Postecoglou, whose vision has generated buy-in from the fans, even if many are beside themselves with frustration, has been gravely undermined by injuries.

Postecoglou has been running with double-digit absentees (or thereabouts) for weeks and was without 10 senior players at Goodison Park, including his first-choice defence, apart from the right-back Pedro Porro. The hope, fervently held by everyone at the club, is that things will start to improve once the selection crisis eases.

No chairman wants to make a managerial change in the middle of the season, especially when there is no obvious replacement available. Postecoglou has been able to guide his team to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, in which they hold a 1-0 lead against Liverpool going into the second leg at Anfield on 6 February.

Rinse repeat. If every single manager fails then maybe it's not the manager

This is what some of us have been saying. Spurs are also caught between trying to run the club like a business and expecting to be a top 4-6 club. We pay the lowest wages out of us, Liverpool, City, ManU, Arsenal, and Chelsea. I wouldn't be surprised if Newcastle and Villa have a higher wage bill with their new ownership. We don't want to buy guys like Eze out of the Championship to develop, and we can't afford to buy players like him once they're established PL players. Add in sacking the manager every 12-18 months and a radical change in systems...

I'd also add we largely haven't invested in youth players the way Chelsea, City, or even Brighton have.

this has been one of the biggest disappointments and differences between the early poch era and now.

We've never really invested heavily in the academy. We got extremely lucky to get a generational talent in Kane. I'd compare Dele to Bergvall. Both were guys that came up through other academies and played 1st team football before moving up a few levels.

we had andros townsend, ryan mason and danny rose in those early poch teams as well. poch made it a point to focus on academy development/promotion when he got here.

Ange has consistently played Moore. Lankshear hasn't looked ready to play. I think Donley and Devine would play next season if Ange is still here.

Rose was a Leeds academy product, so we can take him off the list.

I'm not really sure that Townsend or Mason really did much to show they were amazing academy productions. I mean they were OK players, but nothing special.

On the academy, I don’t think any of us are under the delusions that the academy should be cranking out Harry Kanes annually. But it should be able to churn out players of note that make club contributions for a while. The two players you listed, a midfielder and right winger, combined for 103 appearances and 5 goals. I would expect the academy to produce individual players like that.

it would be an interesting study to see what academies are producing players that contribute to their senior clubs at a significant level.

The lineup for Thursday against Hoffenheim should be interesting. Reguilon and Spence aren't registered for Europa. It doesn't sound like Bissouma will be available.

Welp, he's headed to Fenerbache. Also, Sarr is now rumored to have picked up any injury.

Good to see us getting goals early and putting this away, hopefully quick.

The win should move Spurs up into the top 8. But there will be work to stay in the top 8.

Top 24 advance to the KO stage 1-8 wait for the winners of match-ups between 9-24.

This win would guarantee advancing, but not in the top 8.

Standings show us in 4th. What am I missing as far as top 8

I see now. Live table. Hopefully the rest of match day 7 go our way

Yeah, it's a live table, I pulled up the table on Sky Sports to see the pregame standings.

I would like 1 more goal then get as many of our front line guys out of there.

How the hell does that get past VAR? The keep ...

Oh, ok, NOW it's going to VAR. Yeah, this is what VAR is supposed to clean up up. This is the keeper making a legit play on a ball. If anything, HE is the protected one.

We had 5 defenders behind the ball to 2 attackers and still let them score.

Tired players and no bench. Rinse, repeat.

Well I hope this puts it away.

I will say this, Son looked tired on BOTH goals. He looks gassed now.

Tired legs. Did you see the defender "jump" it was like 2" off the ground.

Kulu has an engine. I’ll give him that.

He plays every min of every game it seems

 VICTORY!
