I don't think they need to sack Munn or Lange. The issue is we want to win and compete at the highest level while spending significantly less than the other clubs we want to compete with. That basically requires everything to go perfectly. It's not realistic.

Yeah. Today was the clearest example to me of watching a bunch of guys that were just worn out. Late getting to balls, losing duels, etc. terrible spot to be in especially given the style we insist on playing.

Watching in the first half, I remember thinking Sarr looked like shit. Makes sense now.

It also shouldn’t be a shock that Spurs came out flat after the half - they were still tired and probably took a few minutes to get back in the game and by then they’ve given up the two goals.

We've never really invested heavily in the academy. We got extremely lucky to get a generational talent in Kane. I'd compare Dele to Bergvall. Both were guys that came up through other academies and played 1st team football before moving up a few levels.

While it started a touch earlier, the Kane era did coincide with the main period of stability as well as sustained success in the league. Kane's first EPL appearance was late in the  2013-14 season with his first real season being 2014-15.

Given the desire to minimize spending, I don't think it's all that much of a shock that Spurs best recent era coincided with our academy producing a generational talent and getting some hits with some young talent (Rose, Bale, Dele, etc).

But if this team is going to want to do this on the cheap, the Academy is going to need to produce at a higher rate.

Rando twitters reporting Ange is safe and the club plans to back him for the long term project.  Will try to bring in at least one more player during this window

I would agree that we're trying to run the club like we're Brighton or Bournemouth in terms of wages and transfer fees, but being surprised at the results when playing a season with European competition added.

Game day! Given that the team can't really afford extraneous games on the schedule, today is a big game - need a win to lock up top 8 and avoid 2 extra games.

3 kids scored for the first time for their club. That’s dope. Never seen that before

So this puts us 4th?

Yeah, we lucked out with a late goal by Ludogrets against Lyon. That dropped them from 4th to 6th. We get a lesser top end team (13/14 vs 11/12), but a better low end team (19/20 vs 21/22). Still, take what you can.

Well fuck, if I knew that talking shit about the academy would get these results I would have talked shit sooner.

My remote-holding shoulder is a little sore but I think I can still watch the game tomorrow. No promises.
