July 1, 20241 yr Why the fuck would anybody step down as HC of a P4 baseball program - after only 2 years - to live in Collie Station and coach aggy pitchers? This guy has gotta have a screw loose. July 1, 20241 yr Not to mention he won't last more than another year or two at UW. He's cutting bait now to avoid getting fired. This (second in line at a good SEC program) is probably a better position than what he'd secure after being fired.

The B1G baseball schedule is shaping up to be a nightmare and clusterfuck. I guess that held no appeal to Kelly, but whatever. He didn't exactly burn it up at UW.

First year was good (made regionals, went 1-2), this year was a disaster. 2. I believe I saw that his salary as HC was $278K, which is shit in Seattle. He'll make more than that in B/CS. 3. He's on his 3rd athletic director in 2 years, which can't help job security, especially combined with #1. 4. The world is loaded with guys who are great assistants and terrible head coaches. He's another one. 5. No one gives a shit about UW baseball. I went to the Husky forum earlier today to see the reaction, and literally no one had commented on it. Edited July 1, 20241 yr by Beau Vine

I know it's only Washington, but even Augie sucked it up at Illinois for 3 years. Now Earley has a babysitter. Because Big 10 Baseball is going to suck? Just a guess. I mean at least in the PAC 12 Washington could leave the damp and cold Seattle area to play Arizona, ASU, Stanford , USC, UCLA and Utah in a warmer climate. Now they get to go to Ann Arbor and freeze their nuts off in late April. PAC 12 baseball was already down before the conference shut its doors save for WSU and OSU who remain. The BIG 10 is going to do nothing to improve those baseball programs. Those who jumped to the Big 12 might be in a better position though, but even Arizona State who used to be a regular at Omaha has been MIA

But because no one actually pays attention to UDub baseball, when the job opens, people want a former pro player -- I remember Dan Wilson and Mike Blowers being suggested when they hired Jason. If Buhner is a candidate, I will lose all hope...

July 1, 20241 yr Can somebody explain to me why they wanted Washington's head coach as the pitching coach? ERA by team: Washington '24 (#120---5.78) Washington'23 (#90---5.37) LSU '22 (#36---4.32) Arizona State '21 (#147---5.28) Arizona State '20 (#85---3.56) Washington '19 (#100---4.49) Washington '18 (#50---3.81) That's as far as I want to go back. He hasn't produced a top 35 pitching staff in 7 years and maybe never if you look at his entire history. This is a mediocre hire at best.

July 1, 20241 yr Popular Post It’s both hard to believe and imminently believable that TAMU can do the following in the space of a week: 1) Win more games in Omaha than they’ve won in the entire history of their program. 2) get to within one out and one error of tying/beating the favorite and bringing home their first Big 3 championship since Hitler. 3) be openly cucked by UT the next day and lose their best coach ever. 4) spin losing that coach as a positive because of his “lack of character.” 5) conduct a nationwide search and hire a guy that was an unpaid assistant two years ago, and spin that as an upgrade over their best coach in 84 years. 6) give their chancellor a golden handshake, plaudits, and year-long goodby tour when he is responsible for all of the above, plus strapping the athletic department through an insane contract extension for, and subsequent firing of, Jimbo. Never change, Aggies. From the outside, we truly can’t understand it.
