Been quiet the last few weeks, but might be something brewing. Currently a 40% chance of organizing. Wouldn't reach the US until next Sunday or thereabouts.

The wave behind this one looks to be a monster and worth watching as well.

Lots of models showing that system staying south and entering the central GoM. Example of one below (top). GFS has a current run going that has a strong storm kissing the Yucatan peninsula in its last frame (bottom).

Those pressures would indicate a major hurricane, cat 3+.

i’m not gonna go find the 2021 thread. State Farm fucked me even though my roof was unquestionably ruined by Ida.  When they did their calculations they found that I deserved $351.

I sued them a year ago and had to wait forever in federal court limbo because the eastern district implemented a mandatory wait on your ass forever until you have to have a court ordered mediation.

They literally told me the damage was all done in previous years and insinuated that I was committing fraud. I assume they thought that would make me go away when they offered $5000 and told me that.

The expert I hired explained how the cow ate the cabbage, and I walked out with 45k to fix my roof.

Fuck homeowners insurance companies who screw the common man who aren’t attorneys.   I have a paralegal who got screwed by her insurance company after it damaged her home post Ida, but instead of suing them, she got an SBA loan and now she and her husband have to buy the home again after they paid it off. Her hubs is a huge Trumper who thinks that it obscene to sue anyone.

I hate the GOP for convincing people. They should sit quiet after they get fucked by big insurance.

16th year anniversary of Ike (technically 2am on 9/13.)

or 63rd anniversary of Carla (9/11)

Don't worry bud, dove season opener ready for you to hold its beer.

GFS 06Z had it heading straight toward Brownsville, then turning right and moving up along the coast (but out at sea). We'd get wet but not much else I think. 12Z is running now, hasn't made it that far ahead yet.

FWIW, 00Z run had landfall at Tampico and plowing straight west across Mexico. In other words, nobody knows shit.

Latest update. Nothing too much to worry about along the TX coast at the moment.

two_atl_7d0-1.png

That wave from last week is a disorganized mess currently dumping rain on Haiti and the DR. Whatever remains as it heads west looks to be heading towards the Bay of Campeche and continuing on into Mexico. The yellow spot is unlikely to organize and the one off the coast of Africa should stay wellnorth of the Caribbean. Likely a fish storm.

So we're fucked again.

So we're fucked again.
Not entirely, new models show it going west to Mexico, assuming it doesn't develop.

I mean, that's what the last model showed for...right up until 2 days before I lost power for a week plus.

It doesn't help that my generator likely isn't going to finish being installed till later this month. So, you know, this thing is basically primed for a double Houston spit roast.

We've had ours plumbed in, wired up, and passed city inspections for about 3 weeks now, but it took until this past Friday to get CP to finally stop by for 5 minutes to install the 2nd meter. Generator guys are coming out today to go ahead and turn it on and test it.

This where I’m at, playing the waiting game. Which happens first, generator installed, or the next storm? Tune in next month to find out!

I know, jinx and all, but we actually are below the average number of named storms for this time of year in the Atlantic.  An above normal year was forecast.  Next 4 weeks are critical.

What’s the second meter for?  If you’re on generator isn’t that your juice?

2nd gas meter. For the gas line that feeds the generator.

So basically every single year since 2005?

Right? With that crazy early season storm, we thought we were all doomed…and then basically nothing. Feels ominous.

2nd meter or just replacing your existing meter with a bigger meter. Curious since I didn’t have to get a second, CP just replaced my old meter with a bigger one.

2nd meter. We had to run a whole new gas line from the side of the house to back where our generator is installed behind the garage.
