February 14Feb 14 Yeah I was a bit baffled about him being the #1 ranked player in the country in the fall
February 14Feb 14 4-1 over aggy, and yeah the lone point for aggy came on Gorzny’s court. Welp, tomorrow it’s on to face the team that owns us in Virginia. 10 consecutive losses is enough. We can’t be a serious program and lose 11 consecutive times to another program… Edited February 14Feb 14 by perfectchaos007
February 14Feb 14 In the last 3 matches all against top 15 teams: 3 doubles points!! Timo 2-1 (nail biting 3 setter vs defending US Open jr champ) PY 3-0 (6 sets) Jonah 2-0 + unfinished

To your point about Gorzny, I don’t know who would play line 2 if he drops down? Braswell played line 5 last year as well, so he would have to make the same jump as Gorzny if we put him at 2. I suppose PY Bailley could be bumped up to #2 and Gorzny #3, Braswell #4 Edited February 14Feb 14 by perfectchaos007
February 14Feb 14 Author Definitely give Pierre a shot at line 2. He's been doing great these past few matches. It was a fun environment being there today. Some matches were closer than I would have liked them to be. A&M should be stronger once their transfers get cleared to play, according to my brother.

February 15Feb 15 Author That sure was a nail biter! I got tired of hearing "Let's go Wahoos." Nice of Texas to quiet that down. Btw, SMU has a nice venue. Glad I attended.

February 16Feb 16 Virginia was damn good on 1, 2, and 4. They’ve got some major hookers though, grateful for elc Great second set fight on 1, 3, 4 and then 1-4 finished third sets either with key breaks or the breaker winner on 4

It would be a welcomed addition, but it might put parsa out of business.

I work plus I'll be driving in from Grapevine. I was thinking of going Tuesday if Texas makes it but with the weather forecast being what it is, I might be stuck at home watching it online on YouTube. I do plan on attending the TCU match in Ft Worth and the NCAAs in Waco!

How many challenges are allowed?

February 18Feb 18 Mid-third set the chair umpire handed a point penalty to Braswell for taking too long to serve, and he ended up losing that service game. That will be the turning point of the match if Braswell loses this.
February 18Feb 18 Braswell lost. Wake wins 4-3. Need to work on doubles, and figure out what to do with Gorzny who hasn't won a singles match since January.

Getting blown off the court in doubles the last 2 matches was pretty surprising. PY dropped the first set today and Sat, but quit playing with his food to win fairly handily in both matches. He has to move to 2 going forward.
February 18Feb 18 Author Oliver has been very impressive in the 1st sets of play but has a mental lapse in the 2nd? Maybe have him switch with Jonah.
February 19Feb 19 Author Hi UT Tennis Fan, I hope you are staying warm! We just got back from The National Indoor Championships, and were looking forward to moving on to our outdoor season, but a cold snap has slammed Austin, and it looks like our 1 pm Saturday match vs Vanderbilt will be inside at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center. That match will be our first SEC Conference dual match, and we are hoping for another great crowd to help us start conference play on a positive note! The good news it that the weather is supposed to warm back up on Sunday, and it should be very nice for our 1 pm Monday match with Ole Miss (outdoors at the Texas Tennis Center). We realize that 1 pm on Monday is not an ideal time for many of our fans, but the SEC has assigned us this time, so we really do not have a say in the matter. As you may know, we wrapped up a long weekend in Dallas with 4-1 wins over #14 Texas A&M (recap) and #5 Virginia (recap), before dropping a nail biter to #1 Wake Forest. For all the details of our semifinal match please click on this recap. Timo Legout, on the strength of his outstanding play at #1 singles, has been named SEC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week! The all tournament team should be released tomorrow, but I expect that Timo, Pierre-Yves Bailly, and Oliver Ojakaar (all undefeated in singles) will be recognized. I'll be in touch again just before the Vanderbilt match with a final preview. Until then, have a great rest of your week, and Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
February 22Feb 22 Author Hi UT Tennis Fan, I hope you had a great week! We play our first SEC Conference match tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 pm, against Vanderbilt at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center. Vanderbilt has a strong team, and we expect a very good match. Here is a full preview. We had over 600 fans last time we played at Weller (against TCU), and it was a big boost to our team. If you are in town, I hope you will plan on being there again! If you can't make it, you will be able to follow along via the live scoring and video streaming links on the preview. After the Vanderbilt match, we are expecting the weather to warm up quickly. So it looks like a sure thing that we will be back outside at the Texas Tennis Center to take on Ole Miss on Monday at 1 pm. I realize that is a tough time, but we encourage you to come out to support if you can. Sincerely, Bruce Berque
February 22Feb 22 Author Just read in another board that this might be Timo's only year of eligibility. I also read a comment in Instagram after the recent comment that Texas is going to need help come next year. Any truth to Timo's eligibility?
March 2Mar 2 Texas def. Florida 5-2. We lost doubles and Jonah Braswell lost in straight sets to his former team, but everyone else handled business.
March 7Mar 7 Timo clinched the match and Texas wins 4-3 against MSST. Losing the doubles point against a top 25 team can make any match uncomfortable. Very fortunate to pull it out
March 10Mar 10 Author Hi UT Tennis Fan, We capped off a successful weekend of SEC play yesterday, by picking up a 4-1 win over Auburn at the Texas Tennis Center in front of a very good crowd. Please click on this press release for all the details. We are now 14-2 for the season, and 5-0 in the SEC. Our next match will be this Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm against TCU in Ft. Worth. We beat TCU 4-1 at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center about a month ago, but we know that this next meeting will be a big challenge. This will be the 10th time we have played TCU in the last 3 years; we are 5-4 in the first 9. If you are able to make it we would love to see some friendly faces and burnt orange in the stands! After the trip to Ft. Worth, we will be back at home on this coming Sunday, March 16 at 12 pm to take on Alabama at the Texas Tennis Center. We have only 3 more regular season home matches. We hope you will mark your calendars for all three, and plan on being there, and on bringing your friends. This year's team is once again a special one. Your support means more to them than you may realize! Have a great week, and Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
March 12Mar 12 You know it’s a bad night when Timo gets destroyed in straight sets. At least this wasn’t an SEC conference match.
March 18Mar 18 Author Hi UT Tennis Fan, We picked up another SEC win yesterday, with a 4-0 decision over Alabama at the Texas Tennis Center. We played a very good match in doubles and singles to bring our record for the year to 15-3 (6-0 in the SEC). Please click here for all the details of yesterday's win. We will hit the road this coming weekend for matches against Arkansas on Friday and LSU on Sunday. Then it is back to Austin and the TTC for a big weekend (March 28 at 6 pm vs Kentucky, and March 30 at 12 pm vs South Carolina). Those will be the last two regular season matches of the year, and Sunday's match against South Carolina will be senior day for Pierre-Yves Bailly. We are expecting several alumni of the program to be back in town, and I'm sure you will enjoy seeing them. If you will be in town, please mark your calendars and plan on joining us. We will need all the help we can get against Kentucky and South Carolina, two of the better SEC teams, as we continue to compete for an SEC title! Have a great week, and Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
March 23Mar 23 Author It actually ended at 4-1 but looks like all matches were played out. Definitely need Oliver back in the lineup.
March 25Mar 25 Author Hi UT Tennis Fan, I hope you had a great weekend! We got back late last night from a long SEC road trip, where we picked up a pair of hard fought wins, 4-1 over Arkansas (recap) on Friday, and 4-3 over LSU (recap) on Sunday. The wins moved our record to 17-3 for the season, and 8-0 in the SEC, with 6 regular season conference matches to go. Our last two scheduled home matches will be this weekend, when we will take on Kentucky on Friday, March 28 at 6pm, and South Carolina on Sunday, March 30 at 12 pm. These are two of the better teams in the conference, and it is going to take everything we have. If you are in town, we would sure appreciate you coming out, and recruiting all your friends to join you. Sunday's match will be senior day for Pierre-Yves Bailly, and he will be recognized for his outstanding contributions to the program just before the start of the match. So please plan on showing up by 11:45 am to make sure you get a good seat, and so you are there to pay tribute to PY! If you can make it out Friday and Sunday, you will be sure to see many familiar faces, as it will be alumni weekend. UT men's tennis players of multiple generations, including last year's seniors Eliot, Eshan, Micah, Evin, and Siem, will be out to support the current squad. Rumor has it there may even be a GA Bailly sighting, as we are hoping he will be here to support his brother. It will be fun for you to come out, catch up with the formers, and help them root on this current team as it continues its quest for an SEC title! Have a great week, and hope to see you this coming weekend! Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
