We went 17-2 with some key players that we don't have anymore, including our ace. I don't think we're saying that we will concede Sunday's, but moreso that we need to make sure we win Fri/Sat and if we need to sacrifice pitching for Sunday we will do that.

Let aggy concede Sunday’s game.  Sweep their ass.

Also do we know how well Williams plays left?  Farmer could hit his way back into the field if he keeps it up, since we know his defense is good.

borba is better defender right now. funny thing about borba is he strikes out looking or completely annihilates the ball.

If only he could field bunts!

It’s wild tbh. Not sure what our options look like next year but I gotta think Borba moves across to 1st and Arod gets another shot at 3rd.

if borba can turn Into schuessler and give us that defense at first, we'll be looking good.

I may be wrong but I think ARod or Mendoza play short next year. Any SS in the portal that's a plus defensive player is either going to be an offensive liability or super expensive. I'd rather bring in a guy like Raygoza at first base and enjoy the offensive production he gives you vs a Faltine clone who OPSs 600 and saves maybe 20 singles a year

I’d put Mendoza there before Arod. I’m not sure Arod has the fluidity to play there at this level.

Might be time to change this thread title to The Schwining Tradition Continues Here.

Respect the streak!

I am respecting the streak that Schloss has had at TCU, Aggy, and now at Texas.

His winning tradition at Texas starts here. We get nothing for his wins at TCU and A&M...very much the victim in a few notable cases.

I don’t think Mendoza has the arm strength for SS, plus this shoulder injury popping up that he had to have surgery on in HS doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies.

Carson Luna is really the only true SS we have on this roster (Flores is a 3B playing SS), and he is redshirting so tough to know what we have. And our only SS signee in this class is about to be a first round pick in a few months.

Catcher and SS are both positions we likely need portal additions, even if they are just floor raisers and not superstars.

I gotta think after the way this season has gone, we will have some options for stars all over the field.

That’s fine.

don’t need to show him to aggy before Thanksgiving weekend

If he hadn't won big at TCU and at Aggy, he wouldn't be here.

I believe we were the victim of a certain coach at Cal State Fullerton, even in Omaha.

He wouldn't have been here either without those wins.

What Texas got from Augie and now Schloss are great coaches that wanted to come to Texas.

We got national championships from Augie, and I expect the same Schloss.

Augie's winning tradition didn't start at Texas, but it ended here, and it didn't start here for Schloss either, but his will most likely end here too.

Yeah well Schwinning at Texas starts now.

My apologies if this is beating a dead horse, but will we see Will Mercer or Ace W. this year or are they on the shelf for 2025?

We don't need pitchers to beat HBCU aggy this Tuesday.

But yeah. Hopefully we can find somebody who used to start in little league somewhere on campus who can go.

Did they really cancel the game with Prairie View A&M this Tuesday?

It is still on the schedule. Where did you hear this?

Throw North Dakota until his arm falls off. Fastballs only, aim down the middle.  Certainly he can do that?

and I hope we win by 1 run.

People had been talking about cancelling the game for RPI reasons.

I didn't hear it had happened and didn't want it to.

One guy on this board did. I don't think we would cancel a game for that reason.

But we won't be that determined to play it either if we get bad weather. But I don't see any indication of rain for Tuesday.

Rerick, Navarre, McCreary, Moffitt and Howard can surely get us 27 outs against PVaggy.

If he hadn't hurt his hamstring, I was hoping Jonah Williams might make his pitching debut.

He has a 90's fastball and a good curve and a lefty, won't happen now.

I would start Bing. Get him 2 innings. I don't think he played against aggy did he? Needs a couple innings.

Fuck throw Covert.

Schlossnagle really is something special. He has every kid on the roster (one he barely had time to build) ready to step up and win the game.

I stand by what I said about the Tuesday game being pointless and only having downside, but will admit I was probably overdoing it with the RPI stuff. The quick turnaround to a Thursday start at Arkansas also isn't ideal.

Going forward, just leave these games off the schedule. We used to schedule Texas Southern every year under Pierce and even he stopped doing that regularly because it just accomplishes nothing. There are other in-state schools we didn't schedule this year (Rice, SFA, ACU, Tarleton). Add one of those to the schedule. Yeah it's a cool experience for the SWAC schools to play at the Disch but it's not our job to provide fun for them.

I wouldn't begin to rank them, but those teams have some talent, and in this NIL/portal era it probably doesn't hurt to get eyes on their players and see if there is someone we want next year.

Was coming here to say the same thing.

Lol teams ranked 2-5 all lost their series. #2 Clemson got swept by NC State, #3 Oregon State got swept by Oregon, Florida State lost to Louisville, Arky to FL.

I'm loving this team and can't wait to see how they finish it off!

So a series win over Arky guarantees us at least a share? We could clinch at least part of the SEC title with 2 series left?

If LSU sweeps Aggy they would still be around

Gap between us and #2 is bigger than the gap between #2 and #17.

I like this cause it fits my narrative.

WVU at #2.

Mizzou at #183 versus #152 in the RPI.

Breaks up the SEC.

I think to get preferable tourney seeding a moderate to weak non-conference schedule is the way to go.    Compile victories.  WVU may be the test dummy for non-SEC teams though.

Don’t screw with west coast teams because a number of those schools out west have some pitching to mess you up.  They may not sweep you, but that pitching can take a game or two.

"Paper Tiger" I've seen a bunch of aggie say...and "congrats on winning a mediocre SEC".

Wonder why it's mediocre. Only because Texas is up?

I didn't realize Michael Cantu was on the coaching staff this year. Man, what a disappointing player he was.

Well those who can't do, teach I guess.

Cantù was ok. Looked like he could hit a ton and never quite did as a player

If Jonah Williams is available this weekend does he play LF? You can’t move Mendoza or A-Rod from the DH. Duplantier played great defense and contributed offensively.  The one position on the field that’s a black hole right now is 3B.
