I want Keith on the radio. The ideal situation would be home feed on main, and road feed on sap.  This is 1990's technology folks.

He hardly ever did baseball games.

He did lots of baseball games till the complaints by fans and probably even Zeke and Zonk made LHN remove him.

Then it was just Swindell and Moreland most of the time.

I remember when LSU came to Austin, they had Ben McDonald in the booth with them.

I was angry that day my friend.

Why don’t our box scores show up on ESPN?  The score is updated, but can’t click to see the stats (you can on all aggy games). Is it because we are on SEC+ and not ESPN+?

You can get box scores and season stats on the Texas Sports page, if that is what you're after.

If you are just making a complaint about what ESPN is doing about our game's vs Aggy games.

I understand and carry on.

This

Does anybody have an idea how much Texas (or other P4 programs for that matter) pay the opposing team for midweek games?  Im sure distance travelled may come in to play, but generally curious on what an average number would be.

About tree fiddy

Looks like possibly severe thunderstorms in Starkville Saturday. Maybe Friday night too.

Caden Noah returns to start tonight for UTA against Drew Rerick.  I wonder what that means for Flores?

I remember a mid week game and someone made a reference about Pirates of the Caribbean. Lowell then proceeded to make even more of an ass of himself than usual by having no idea where the fuck the Caribbean Sea is located. Moreland's response, "You have a degree from Texas?" I don't remember him doing too many games after that day.

The day they gave Lowell a degree was oppo day.

Yeah, where did that come from? His ESPN bio:

A native of San Antonio, Texas, Galindo was graduated from Emerson College in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism.

It would be interesting to know how much aggy is paying to get their asses handed to them midweek.

Seems weird we would pay teams to play here in baseball. Didn’t know that happened outside of football.

You typically do a home and away for minimal compensation.  If you do not want to do a return trip you pay them to come out. Depending on costs to come to your school you pay more.

I used the following site on the build a schedule threads back in the day to see who was looking for games.

https://collegebaseballinsider.com/2025-open-dates/

This was pre-NIL ridiculousness but I seem to recall $5000 mentioned as the guarantee years ago on the above site. I assume it's negotiation based on reputation. I'm sure bigger programs pay less for the experience for the smaller school to come out.

You could use the wayback machine on that site and read a bunch of older ones, and you could get tim tadlocks email address if you wanted it.

So I think at this point it's safe to assume 16 SEC wins is going to get you a hosting spot.

The path to 16 as I see it right now:

Need to sweep (3): at Missouri

Need to find 5 wins in these home series: (5): Georgia, A&M, Auburn

Need to find 5 wins in these road series (5): at OU, at Miss State, at Kentucky

Don't get swept (3): at Arkansas, LSU, Florida

We also have 8 non-conference games left. I think 6-2 would be adequate. That would put us at 38-17.

Yeah, win 'em all. But I think that's a good Year 1 for Schloss and the SEC of it all.

Yeah, I don't expect us to roll through the rest of non-conference play without a hiccup or two, especially if we are holding back guys like Flores and Rerick for potential weekend roles.

UTRGV (they are actually good this year), Texas State (x2), UTSA and Lamar are the toughest midweek games we have on the schedule and all happen to be during SEC play.

Fuck it, sweep them all.

Reality going to set in fast. First 12 games are going to be imperative with Missouri being horrible and Georgia’s starting pitching being abysmal.

LSU is LSU but they have played nobody to date and I mean NOBODY, so it will be an adjustment for them when they come to Austin. They open conference play with Missouri in Baton Rouge so Texas will be their first real challenge of the year.

Going to be a good test this weekend, Dudy Noble should be packed

Max needs to get out of this slump.  3 hits in the last 5 games. His average has fallen around 75 points since A&M CC.

Whatever. We have Jared Spencer. Reality is going to set in for Mississippi State on Friday, not us.

Gasparino is 1 walk away from matching his total from all of last season.

Slugging % is up 130 points and OBP is up 64 points despite his average being a tick lower than it was last year.

He’s walking a lot though

Really interested to see if going on the road gets the offense going again. Since the Louisville game, Texas has scored at least 10 in every game away from Disch-Faulk.

FIFY

Is "miss STATE" really interested in getting these games in?

I can't find anything about altered gametimes.

Accuweather says:

88% Rain Friday night

99% Rain Saturday day, 63% Rain Saturday night

Does the SEC have SOP to keep home teams from sandbagging the changes of start times when they face certain weather problems?

Bringing my young boys (11 and 6) to their first Texas game for the Saturday evening matchup.  I'm sure they'll join you in the wave.

Spring in the southeast means rain every weekend. Be ready for anything.

Good story on the 3 aggy commits (Mendoza, Navarre, Rerick) now at Texas. (excerpts)

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/college/longhorns/article/jim-schlossnagle-texas-baseball-ethan-mendoza-20217049.php

Quote

AUSTIN — The first time Jim Schlossnagle laid eyes on Ethan Mendoza, he liked what he saw. Very much.

“But,” he said, “he had no interest.”

None.

However, Schlossnagle was at Texas A&M then and had just taken that job four years ago. He’d seen this plucky second baseman at Southlake Carroll and was impressed but also aware that the pint-sized Mendoza had committed to Arizona State.

So Schloss told his high school coach that if the 5-10, 185-pound infielder ever changed his mind to let him know.

The next time the two crossed paths, Mendoza was in a Sun Devils uniform and was wearing out  Schloss’s Aggies on the diamond.

“Last year we played ASU and he had like four hits against us or five hits in two games,” Schlossnagle said. “He slides into second base after a hit and stares at me and gives me, like, the thumbs down thing.

“But I kind of liked it. It kind of fired me up like (Texas’ Kimble) Schuessler popping off at me (after a home run) in the regional last year. I love that stuff. You see what kind of gritty player he is.”

Once Schlossnagle switched rivalries and took the Longhorns job late last June, he noticed Mendoza’s name pop up in the transfer portal. The two got together, and it was a match made in Longhorn heaven.

“I didn’t know he disliked A&M,” Schlossnagle said. “He’s a little baller, man. I’m glad he’s on our team

Freshman Bryce Navarre from Montgomery was committed to Texas A&M but switched sides when Schloss and pitching coach Max Weiner traded allegiances.

Asked if he heard from Aggie fans after the move, the 6-1, 210-pound left-hander with the fluid delivery and a wide array of pitches said, “I did. I had to turn off Twitter for a little bit. Nothing too bad. It’s just Aggie fans.”

Weiner first got tipped off to the pitcher with the 95-mph fastball (Rerick) by a reliever with the Seattle Mariners where he served as pitching coach. Eric Swanson, now with the Toronto Blue Jays, had worked with Rerick and alerted him to the hard thrower.
