Might as well someone already named a fucking pig

Yeah, I can't believe someone mentioned Kirstie Alley either.

Gimme your 3 best sitcom characters

Fuck you.  Get your own.

Barney Fife

Michael Scott

George Costanza

Honorable mention- Frank Costanza

British shows

Psycho Paul - Ideal.

Jeff Murdoch - Coupling.

Fleabag.

I have to do five:

1. Homer Simpson

2. Ron Swanson

3. Jack Donaghy

4. Archie Bunker

5. Dan Connor

1. Larry
2. His brother Darryl
3. His other brother Darryl

After much consideration, I am changing my list. These are the three best sitcom characters of all time. There shall be no more discussion:

Selina Meyer
GOB Bluth
Laszlo Cravensworth

However, I am willing to hear arguments for Tobias Funke and Roger Furlong.

If not those three, then....
Archie
Hawkeye
George

I like your first three here. Mary Ann was the wildest in bed though; she was up for anything.

Ron Swanson

Frank Reynolds

Homer Simpson

Archie Bunker and then everyone else.

You misspelled Barney Fife.

Ron Swanson

George Costanza

Michael Scott

Hawkeye
Reverend Jim from Taxi
Sam Malone from Cheers
Garry Shandling from Larry Sanders Show as standby

Non-stars
Niles Crain (great all around but brilliant at physical comedy)
Ted Baxter (MTM show)
Kramer

Nailed it with Niles. This is my favorite scene ever. No dialogue

Tough choices  I think you have to pick main characters, which eliminates bit part guys like Earnest T Bass and Tobias Funk.

1. George Costanza

2. Luci Ricardo

3. Homer Simpson

I did not think we should pick the main character since that is just asking what is your favorite sitcom?  Exception: Seinfeld.

  • Author

after giving it some thought, Roy Kent is at, or near, the top.

Listing a Cheers character over Diane is criminal. Shelley Long was incredible in that role (admitting Kirstie Alley is one of the best casting decisions in TV history).

Also give me

Michael Scott and (edit: going with Niles).

David Brent
Cliff Claven
Cosmo Kramer

Honorable mention: Jack Tripper, Alex P Keaton

3) Eddie Haskell

Grandpa? You alive?

5 Sorry

Archie Bunker

George Costanza

Michael Scott

George Jefferson

Larry David

Pick any three characters from Arrested Development. Almost doesn't matter which 3.

Let’s play another sort of game. 3 worst sitcom characters. Off the top of my head:

1) Simon Moon on Frasier

2) The Englishman on Seinfeld’s The Dog episode.

3) Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother.

Manny from Modern Family

Craig from Parks and Rec

#3 doesn't matter because no one will touch those two

Billy Eichner is a national treasure. He was miscast on Parks and Rec. Just not right for that type of show.

No argument on Manny. College Station native. Enough said.

I know about Cousin Oliver despite not watching the show.  A character that became the trope makes the list.
