St John’s replacing UCLA in the CBS Challenge and will be paired up against UK this coming season. Totally understandable for the Bruins to leave it given their B1G travel.

Quote

The NCAA tournament expanded from 65 to 68 teams in 2011. The change introduced the First Four round, a set of games where the four lowest-seeded at-large teams and four lowest-seeded conference champions compete for a spot in the traditional 64-team bracket.

Baker said there are flaws in the current formula and that it would be beneficial to give more opportunities to worthy teams.

"If you have a tournament that's got 64 or 68 teams in it, you're going to have a bunch of teams that are probably among what most people would consider to be the best 68 or 70 teams in the country that aren't going to make the tournament, period," Baker said. "The point behind going from 68 to 72 or 76 is to basically give some of those schools that were probably among the 72, 76, 68, 64 best teams in the country a way into the tournament."

Does this idiot think that there wont be a "first four out" scenario if there are 76 teams, and that those teams wont bitch exactly the same way the 65th team bitches today? Its no wonder these morons fuck up everything they touch.

They need a way into the tournament? Be better than 65th

Y'all do realize all these extra games will have commercials, yes? Being worthy ain't got nothing to do with it.

No shit? Everyone understands the motivation, I was just commenting on how stupid these rationalizations are. Just admit you want the revenue, and dont make yourself look a fucking moron in the process.

Fuck this stupid fucking shit.  These fucking twats are just bashing everything I love about college sports to death.

The opening weekend of the NCAA tournament is the best 4 days of sports in America.  Period.  Anyone who wants to change it should be drug in the street and shot.

Y’all have a heart. The Committee is trying to extend truTV’s usefulness to the viewing public.

Man, I can't believe nobody here thought of THAT. Absolutely brilliant insight.

No worries, little buddy. You'll catch on to the sarcasm eventually.

Think Winnie The Pooh GIF

Just need some consolidation in the mid major tiers. The argument I’ve read is that with all the AQ’s the middle of the P4 conferences are missing the cut. 64 is perfect and the play ins are confusing. My baseline is that if you have to explain it in great detail to an outsider it’s too complicated. The “First Four” is absurd. Just like 4-4-2-2-1-3 they’re talking about in football. NCAA baseball is probably the best setup going right now.
