I'll never hate on Parra and she's the first ever back-to-back AVCA Player of the Week

She's thriving at TCU.  A reminder that Elliot didn't recruit over here until after Parra made her intention to leave known.  Madi was brought in to replace Fields and play alongside Eggleston.  Parra just did not beat out Madi, played as a serving specialist, and left after the 2022 title game, at which point, we went out and got Jenna.

Just because some people assume we picked Jenna over Parra or recruited over Parra.

Ew, the SEC is adding an SEC Volleyball Tournament to the postseason.

I hate it.  Starts in 2025.

So this is our first 6-2 offense since 2009. I guess Skinner is asked to play the role of Destinee Hooker.

Might as well do it. Not sure this team is winning a title with a 5-1.  Just do it.

Texas ran a “modified” 6-2 with Collins and Dalton 10 years ago

This team just doesn’t have the chemistry at this point. They can look good at times, but too often look like they do in this second set. Defense is average, block is not good, and hitters just not terminating.

Nice to deflate that crowd after they'd finally managed a glimmer of hope. Always fun to crush Baylor in any sport.

Hell of an ass whooping. Will be interesting to see what JE does with the lineup going forward. Worked well tonight.

Stick with it, IMO. Get more time comfortable with it

The only thing I don't like about the 6-2 is the lack of Akana except late in matches, like set 3.

I guess she can come in and serve if someone is struggling, but we are currently using our best 6 server rotation in this format - Madi, Swindle, Jenna, Halter, Ames and Carlson.

Elliot may flip flop between Devin/Whitney when Rutherford comes off the court in the double sub for a while until someone grabs the job - Devin was 5-2-19 and Whitney was 0-1-3 last night.  Unless he was just trying to see what the 6-2 looked like with Whitney on the court as the second OPP.

Overall, not a bad night, but Mari is still so rough offensively.  But she had 8 blocks!

RR 11-2-17, .529
Madi 14-4-24, .417
Jenna 6-2-20, .300
Ames 3-1-9, .222
Mari 5-3-14, .143
Devin 5-2-19, .158
Whitney 0-1-3, -0.333

I know the no-double rule on second contact is a thing, but Elliot needs to keep Emma bump setting.  She has no much experience with Jenna/Madi bump-setting them and her hand sets are not great.  Akana is a better hand setter, Emma is a better bump setter

thank god crying GIF

We’re so back.Servers adding the most value so far this season!🥇 Emma Halter - Texas🥈 Raina Terry - Illinois🥉 Erin Lamb - KentuckyJordyn Harvey is the dark horse at 16% ace and 27% opponent good pass. Could be a huge weapon for Stanford in key moments down the road.

Last non-conf match before SEC play - Texas is looking for a 5-3 start (like last year) against Hawaii, 6:30pm, SECN+

Hawaii is 6-2 with wins over SMU, San Diego, Pepperdine, TXST x2, Oregon State and losses to Pepperdine and UNLV.  Hawaii is on a little Texas two-step, facing Texas and Baylor.

Texas started Big 12 play last year at 5-3, with 4-set losses to Long Beach and (ranked) Washington State and a sweep by (ranked) Stanford and wins over LMU, (ranked) Minnesota, FGCU, Rice, (ranked) Ohio State
Texas this year is 4-3, with 5-set losses to (ranked) Minnesota and (ranked) Miami and a sweep by Stanford and wins over (ranked) Wisconsin, Indiana, Houston, (ranked) Baylor and hopefully Hawaii

Last year, Texas started Big 12 play by going on the road to their rival (OU).  This year, Texas starts SEC play going on the road to their rival (aggy).

Weird parallels

This production is awful

Doesn’t look like Madi is playing back row. Akana playing defense for her

Texas up 17-7

Yes, with Jenna playing 6 rotations and Madi being subbed out for Akana in the back row. Kind of weird, I would flip that because Madi is the better BIC hitter and Jenna is the serve receive liability

Brought my 7 year old daughter to the game and splurged on the front row seats. I was directly behind Carlson’s serve during that run.

Got loud there for a minute but couldn’t put them away

Too many errors for the Horns.

Mari gets faked out way too much leaving the pin blockers 1-on-1.

The problem with the 6-2 is that the passing and ball control need to be efficient to run it effectively and we’ve regressed back to the norm after 2 years of good ball control. Everyone has regressed in that area…
