November 2, 20241 yr How is wenass playing all the way around the best option? How did we let the best setter on the court transfer out?

November 2, 20241 yr I only caught the end of the 4th and then the 5th but what I saw was awful. I don't know what's happened but just a few weeks ago I thought we had shit figured out. The last two matches have been dog shit.
November 2, 20241 yr No leadership, too many transfers. Now that Jerritt has figured out the value of DS and serving, I think he needs to be more selective about portalling players in. He put some pretty salty teams together without the portal. Edited November 2, 20241 yr by TwiceHorn
November 2, 20241 yr Haven’t really been keeping up with V-Ball this season but sheesh are we young or just not as good this year and everyone else is?? guess we got spoiled the last few years
November 2, 20241 yr I’ll admit I am a very casual volleyball watcher so I am probably missing something, but what happened to Ella Swindle? She was such a huge part of the run last year as a true freshman and seems to have basically disappeared this year. Edited November 2, 20241 yr by Hookem2147
November 2, 20241 yr Elliott has big, big problems. I seriously doubt they get fixed this season, but I'd love to be wrong.
November 2, 20241 yr Switching to the 6-2 masked some issues but it didn't solve our sporadic lack of focus and grit.

She was better setting without jumping.
November 2, 20241 yr I'll be so glad when Jenna is gone. If the set isn't perfect she 2 hands it right to the other teams front row giving the opponent exactly what they want. She can't even push it to a back corner. And why does she need a perfect set to attack? Every time Jenna pushes it over Emma gets to eat leather. Emma owes Jenna a good slap in the face. Mizz has a OH that attacks from anywhere on the court no matter how good or bad the set. A .200 hitter on the NC team isn't going to cut it. Why not give Lauwenstein a chance?
November 3, 20241 yr I am wondering what happened to our spikes from the back row. Seems they were usually good for three points a set, not I rarely see one.
November 3, 20241 yr Author Congrats on this team now becoming an absolute chore to watch instead of a pleasure. I GUESS Elliot gets a mulligan after back to back titles but geez
November 3, 20241 yr Our volleyball and football teams both got punched in the mouth recently. Football then responded well enough against a decent opponent to leave Nashville with a win. It wasn't all that impressive, but they did survive a conference battle on the road and still have a chance to make a title run. Volleyball didn't get it done at home...twice straight. That makes today a total MUST win. After surviving that second set, let's see if they have what it takes to get their mojo back. I don't think any of us could be called optimistic, but we all hope they do
November 3, 20241 yr How can no one put up a hittable ball out of system? Everything is 20ft off the net or on top of it.

I don't think I've seen a Texas program regress from one year to the next this much since the 2009 -> 2010 Texas football program. I don't think we host a regional.
November 3, 20241 yr Oof. We got dominated. Tried to give away the only set we won. Even the SEC title seems out of reach now.

November 3, 20241 yr Right now we'd have trouble fogging a mirror. Guess our coach decided #600 was enough.
November 3, 20241 yr This team is almost unwatchable now. They can give up 5-6 points in a row to air. Poor ball handling, lack of consistent blocking, and don't even get me started on our pin hitters. I have never seen such regression from one year to the next with a team. To say I'm shocked is an understatement, and there is no fixing the many problems with the team this year.

November 4, 20241 yr I miss Logan. Madi turned it on in the latter half of last year and was otherworldly in the tournament and even Wenaas turned it on late in the tournament but neither have ever had Logan's consistency. But it's hard to think of a single returning player who hasn't dropped off from last year.

November 4, 20241 yr No blocking. Poor hitting. Burned Emericks shirt for really no reason. I've been around more than a handful of college VB coaches. They all seem to lack any kind of insight at all when they don't overpower teams. My daughters coach is the same way. Blind as hell to real issues and makes changes at unnecessary positions (in this case back row).
November 4, 20241 yr We can’t terminate. Poor passing yes, but my girl 6’5” Molly could finish. We need finishers.

Perhaps we're getting a glimpse into the distractions inherent to high-level college sports in the NIL era. It's hard to know where an athlete's head really is, but when play suffers it's not crazy to ask if priorities are as they should be. Maybe that's not at all what we're seeing. But throw NIL obligations and money on top of the rockstar status that comes with back-to-back titles and it's hardly unthinkable that some players might lose focus. Past time for coaches and team leaders to figure it out.

This whole team decided winning was awesome and that they didnt need to work hard to stay on top. She's 6'3" and can help with the block and dump in a 5-1. We've given away that and it's hurting us. If Carlson was playing lights out, it's one thing. She's not. Partly because we're out of system most of the time, which is one more reason to play Swindle. The hitters are getting so many bad "sets" that they're dinking half the time.
November 4, 20241 yr Sometimes you might need to bring in a freshman off of the bench to provide some energy.
November 4, 20241 yr Something or someone seems to have become a cancer in this locker room. Don't know who or what it is, but this team is not getting better in the next few weeks. Devin and Ella will put their names in the portal on day 1, and I can't blame them. @Slick16 is right on about the setter position. There's a reason JE stopped recruiting short setters. Then he takes one out of the portal and benches Ella. If Carlson were setting better, that's one thing, but she's not. Then she just got abused blocking the pin yesterday. I don't get it.
