Agree but the ball control isn’t helping

There's our Wenaas!

Dear god

Texas inability to stop runs is what is going to doom us

The coaching was bad

Elliott looks like he wants this season over

Thank god we prioritized a second OPP and an OH who didn’t play instead of a little

Tbh, I feel him. This team has been a chore to watch and it started at the top with the offseason acquisitions

That’s a JE thing.

Jenna has no business being playing in the back row.

Donezo.

I'd say Skinner has less.  Other than the attack.

No other option bc Elliot offensively star chased

You can live with Skinner in the back row just for her attack

Shiny objects and a tendency toward hitters.  Hopefully lesson learned.  Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Does this have anything to do with pro prospects?

Did JE get fat and happy winning two titles back to back? Maybe. We need a reset and the exodus of players should lead to one - Madi, RR, Jenna, Akana all gone.

Well damn.  Could have used this this weekend.  Might watch some better teams.

Skilled hitters like to be 6-rotation because yes it is a "premium" talent beyond college.  So you sometimes see "all star" hitters indulged, maybe when they shouldn't be.

Disappointing end to an irritating season where we really failed to live up to expectations.

Time for young blood next year

I think we have been spoiled with natural leaders these past few years with Logan and then Asjia, but it feels like this year we really didn’t have anyone step up.

Yeah, someone awhile back posted about Wenaas playing backrow only.  She wasn't good enough at either absent an incredible last 3 matches last year

It's not all on her, but I will be glad to move on from Wenaas.

I'd like to say it was a frustrating season, but the truth is it comes following back to back national championships and an absolute blowout of Nebraska in last year's championship game, so that makes it a whole lot less frustrating.

It never felt like we took advantage of having Rutherford on the roster.

Really missed having a 3rd quality little in the back like the last two years.

Some of these girls have been on the team for 3 seasons and this is the first time they’ve been eliminated from the tournament.  4 years for Madi?

I honestly never completely understood why we brought her in. She's easy on the eyes, I'll give her that. And she tries hard. I never had an issue with her effort.

I still don't really understand Carlson over Swindle either.

Reset and on to next year.

Hopefully we can make a good run in Halter's last year.

This team was plagued all season with miscommunication, inconsistent play, confusion, bad sets, poor swings, and a coach that had to change the offensive scheme 3 times this year because they could never find any rhythm. There’s not just one area to point the finger, which means Jerritt has a lot of soul searching to do over the offseason to reflect on what went wrong and how to get it fixed.  My recommendation would be continue recruit and develop the big hitters out of highschool, and utilizing the portal to recruit the best available setter in the nation that also fits JE’s scheme.

This team could never put it all together. Either way, fun run of B2B titles. Fix some things for next year.

I can't believe Texas lost to that racist team. Not a single minority on their team. I'm glad it was the last match for free ball Wenaas though.

This is Emma's first postseason loss :(

Madi was one and done in 2021 (lost in the second round)

Ella needs to set  clean, consistent balls where the hitters don't have to significantly make adjustments in their approach...

Setting was far down the list of problems this year IMO.

We took a huge step back at middle and Jenna is Jenna.

She's probably gone anyways, tbh.  And it will make very sad.

Texas needs:

  • 1 (or 2) DS to replace Akana + an additional ball control DS, unless one of Ramirez/Emereck/Callie Krueger is ready to play day 1.  We need 3 littles, period.
  • Likely 1 OPP if Devin bail, unless the plan would be to slide Lauenstein over to OPP, in which case, Texas will need an experienced OH or we are relying on RS SO Byrd, who didn't play at all + AVW and Spears
  • 1 backup setter until Harris arrives in 2026, if Ella bails, unless Elliot is just going to have Binney be the backup, but woof if Averi goes down with an injury.  Need to find a grad transfer who wants a degree, if Ella goes

I don't foresee Texas recruiting over Singletary or Ames - we were young in the middle this year, we'll be young on the outsides next year (probably)

I believe we have to get the roster down to 18 regardless - so you are looking at + 5 incoming players (Krueger, Gaido, AVW, Spears, Harvey) - 5 graduations (Skinner, Wenaas, Akana, Franklin, Rutherford).

Transfer candidates besides Devin and Swindle:

Helmers
Byrd
Miller
Bunton
Tomkinson

Truth be told, I have no idea if Tomkinson, Byrd or Helmers will ever play.  Bunton has played sparingly (11 sets in 6 matches), but needs to be convinced to stay since Harvey will likely RS and we will always need a 3rd MB in case of injury.

If I'm Devin, I tell JE I did enough in 2024 to warrant the starting OPP job in 2025, but if you're going to relegate me to the bench again or star chase another OPP, I'm out.  She just needs playing time, consistently - she can hit, she can block, she has a great serve.  Give her an entire offseason of reps as a passing OPP.
