Thinking about their hopeless roster salary management, I am reminded how @'stache dubbed my statement that there are 17 QB's I'd rather have than Dak "the stupidest thing he'd read on Surly." I am curious if you still stand by that statement, due to how Prescott's insane salary has crippled the team? I'd still rather take those other Qb's who are clearly better, equal to, or slightly worse than Dak, but don't come with his bloated salary. Yes, it's stupid to say there are 17 better QBs and blaming a QB salary for roster problems is also dumb. Doesn't seem to bother the good teams with highly paid QBs and other positions. It's pretty obvious that the NFL salary cap is just Enron accounting. I've said repeatedly I'm fine if we moved on from Dak since it hasn't gotten us very far and also for his sake because any QB will be hamstrung by this franchise's joke of an owner/GM and the fact that good coaches will never work for him. There's no reason to expect anything as long as that old piece of human garbage breathes.
January 5Jan 5 Fitting end to the season. I thought Trey looked good for not playing in almost 3 years.

Tampa win really hurt, but then again they haven't beat a team with a winning record so they're not very good either. First Commanders win too, but seems obvious we match up with them pretty well. Parsons was a terror the last half of the season on a bad team.
January 5Jan 5 4th round draft pick traded for Mingo. Finished his cowboys season with 5 catches for 38 yards and 0 TD’s in 7 games.

January 5Jan 5 Dallas sits at 12 just after SF. If the Niners beat Arizona their strength of schedule draft tiebreaker should put the Cowboys at 11.

January 6Jan 6 Author Waiting almost 70 picks in the middle of the draft is going to rough as shit...... Wait, the GM doesn't know the contractual situation of his quarterbacks? Are the fucking GM or not, Jerrah, you feckless piece of shit. Look at this asshole right here..... Full of excuses but wants others to pay the freight for all of his fucking failures..... People really need to stop going to these games. Only way to get inside the head of this level of unaccountability. Hurt the profitability of the product.
January 6Jan 6 Getting asked if he's stepping down as the gm damn near every season, got feel good lol. He's fucking terrible as an owner. A good owner would hire a good GM.
January 6Jan 6 Fuck Jerry, he very well could have made the Lance decision to save money, but it objectively makes sense to play him in that situation.

January 6Jan 6 I'm looking forward to the summer when the buzz is all about Mingo looking so great in camp and preseason, before eventually proving to be Mingo. But I'm still not writing him off. I haven't seen great instincts on his part, but maybe they can make a decent niche player out of him that has some kind of role that could potentially be worth a 4th, or maybe at least not quite as shitty a trade. But pissing away that 4 in this particular draft especially is such a beatdown.

Not that anybody thought he was great or anything, but he needs to play. if he sucks, we improve playoff position. if he’s any good at all (he isn’t) either we gain a compensatory pick in the draft when he’s signed by someone else or he earns a better contract. Lastly, we could figure out what we have in Trey Lance. we know what Cooper Rush is (a decent backup NFL QB). Edited January 6Jan 6 by lilMAC25
January 6Jan 6 Next year's opponents: Home: Packers, Vikings, Cardinals, Chiefs, Chargers Away: Bears, Lions, Panthers, Broncos, Raiders, Jets Away schedule isn't bad but home is a killer.
January 7Jan 7 I don’t think he’s acting here, but this is very well delivered. I’m sure some on this thread may not feel as warm and fuzzy about Jerry’s familial employment decisions, however.
January 7Jan 7 Holy shit, I thought that Bears thing was fake or shopped, but just saw it come accross the cryon during the FCS championship game. I seriously thought it was a "goddamn look stupid Bears, lol" joke. What the absolute fuck? Just . . . wow . . . please mike, take the damn job and gtfo. Edited January 7Jan 7 by 'stache
January 7Jan 7 Or someone in the Bears organization is doing Mike a favor and forcing Jerry’s hand either way. The Cowboys have to give permission. If they don’t, he loses the position, and they still don’t bring him back then Jerry looks like an even bigger shitheel. But Jerry being Jerry, we’ll see something this weekend during the Wildcard games.
January 7Jan 7 Zeke's sorry ass must have the greatest agent in the world. That worthless sack of shit. Go ahead and sign that carton of spoiled milk if you want.

I saw it and thought of the words of MLB chief Sandy Alderson about 20 years ago when the umpires all resigned in unison over some issue. He said he couldn't decide if it was “a threat to be ignored or an offer to be accepted.”

January 7Jan 7 Did he have his plastic surgeon reinstall his tear ducts for that scene, or did they have to use an eye dropper? I wasn't all that sure I'd watch the show but I'm out now, I'd probably have broken my tv when that piece of shit showed up.
January 7Jan 7 Bears ready to trade for a HC. We will take a 1st, 3rd and a swap of 2nds for Fat Mike. Seems fair.

January 8Jan 8 My feeling, based on nothing but my feeling, is that Jerry probably prefers to keep McCarthy, but on a short term deal, say 2-years, maybe 3, that wouldn't be that painful to piss away if he decides to cut bait during or after next season. He has injuries and the transition to the new defense as excuses, and the team showing some backbone as lame ducks as support for their coach. McCarthy may not be willing to take a deal like that. All the rumored interest in his services by other bottom feeding teams with vacancies may be legit, or not. The teams that are showing interest are some of the biggest dumpsterfires, so he probably prefers to stay, which gives Jerry a little leverage in negotiation. There's no reason to give the Bears or anyone else permission to speak with McCarthy. It's only another week or so before he can do whatever TF he wants. Meanwhile, the Cowboys can kick the tires on other available coaches behind the scenes. If they bring him back, I would hope they bring in some better training wheels, like offensive coaching talent that bring more imagination to the offense, maybe some much better scouting in certain areas where they tend to suck ass. A potential younger head coach in waiting prospect would be nice, too. The staff is too damn old and out of date. Edited January 8Jan 8 by DougO
