The Brian Schottenheimer hire is the Jonathan Mingo of trades, the Taco Charlton of draft picks, the Terence Steele of contract extensions, the blinding 3pm glare of stadium designs.

Man, Collins would have looked good with a star on his hat.

Didn’t even get the upgrade at DT. Went edge I’m sure.

The best remaining does look Edge heavy. Maybe the Tenn RB. Quality has dropped off bigly at RB and WR.

Please, no aggy.

Honestly DB was a bigger need than DE ugh.

At least it’s another good player who probably will make an impact. But fuck they are missing the main blind spots.

Edge rusher out of BC, Donovan Ezeiruaku
And ... exhale. Whew.

Maybe Stephen and Will McClay had to take out Jerry's Achilles to not draft Sanders.

I mean, I wouldn't hate it if it gets Parsons in OLB mode more often to play all over the field.

But they have one third round pick to get a starting RB and a number 2 WR.

And a right tackle, safety, etc...

Edited by DougO

I'd feel a lot better if they had a fourth round pick.

Yeah let me clear this kid is a good pick.  If they cowboys and taken a wr first I’d be giddy.

I know the line makes or breaks it. But the cowboys have no weapons other the Lamb.

please tell me they get at least one RB with some juice and trade for Pickens or some shit.

Also this. They had offers to move back here and maybe get that.

now they’ll probably trade a pick next year for one.

Their massive needs coming in were WR/RB/DB and they didn’t get either.

They have 1 pick left to really address 3 spots.  Well I guess you could take 2 RBs in the 5th they would be an immediate upgrade too

This guy really looks like a player, but their interior DL is still weak.

The sooner you guys realize we’re in a full rebuild, the happier you’ll be. Stack trench players that don’t suck (Guyton) and let Dr Doolittle be RB 1 until we can get an actual franchise back

Ah it's cool. Anything we don't pick up this weekend, we'll just get in free agency.....

There were a couple of good value DTs at 12, or a few picks later. That's probably how they should have gone.

But I don't hate the Edge pick because it's a good value. He could be around and be a factor if he pans out as hoped. He's probably a big step up, but the numbers at the position are weird now.

Might cut the FA pick up or even the Missouri dude from a few years ago who was injured last season.

It looks like the Schotty Cowboys are prioritizing character with their draft picks, hopefully not to the detriment of talent.

And a 4 probably could have gotten a good RB, but they shit that away already.

Right. Even if they had taken an upgrade DT it would have been worth it.

this.  it is obvious they don't give a shit about skill position.  Guyton was such a fucking stupid waste of a pick.  He's from OU and light.  he can't play unless he can hold.

Man I the cowboys didn’t have a massive lack of speed and playmaking on offense, this wouldn’t be a bad start to a draft.

oh well.

Of course they draft a guy who tore his ACL.  I swear to God they let the team doctors and trainers make at least 1 pick a year

I don’t like this pick.

I think an RB or WR would have been much better choice.

Ya, especially for a CB.

I’ve been preaching it all draft.

however, In this case this was the last plausible starting caliber CB left.  Torn AcL or not.

there are still tons of RBs left dnd they can double dip in the 5th if they want.

WR is the issue.  There isn’t anyone left who’s a stud.  We gotta hope they have some miracle trade lined up.

Just now, Bill Brasky said:

I hope I'm wrong, but I would have taken Noel instead

I would have too. I just don’t know he’s a difference maker. I’d have liked to see thogh.

the Texans are overloaded at WR now.  And Dallas can’t get one.

They’re gonna have to trade or pick up a WR to improve they at all.

you still got depth at DT and RB for tomorrow.

Dallas drafting an injured player because VALUE! water is wet

He'll be gone in 3 years.

same shit with Mingo.  gave up a 4th round pick to get a guy drafted in the 2nd round.  VALUE!

yep, you just have to close your eyes and say "our 4th round pick is Mingo" three times.

So the consensus so far is that the draft hasn’t been a disaster. But I’m really wondering what the Cowboys’ plan to win games is with exactly one offensive skill position player worth a shit.

Um... who exactly are you referring to?

The way forward is to suck this year and then really suck the year after to guarantee the #1 pick for Arch.

I don't think it really matters.  We've had skill guys with Dak and sometimes good and sometimes not good.  the playoffs, Dak may play good with the better skill guys but the D shits the bed, or the other way round.  Not to mention we are at a big disadvantage in the headsets.

We'll have to wait Dak out and then hope we hit on the next QB or a coach that can bring a lights out D to Dallas.  It's a dismal place to be.  I guess building the lines back up is probably the best bet when we have to go hire a new coach in 3 or 4 years.

I am very certain that I am going to get really tired of perpetual "Schotty" nickname, though.

PFF said they would have given the Cowboys a good grade if they took Ezeiruaku in the 1st round.

Mcshay said Revel is a 1st round talent.

My biggest complaint about the Cowboys drafting has been drafting for need every year (and not even the right need) and getting average players. They went for most talent this year; so I can't get mad.

The 2025-2026 Cowboys aren't winning the Super Bowl. But the 2026-2027 Cowboys should have more talent to build around.

Jerry should just hire one of the 500 guys who could win a Super Bowl coaching at Dallas. Surely a few of them are still alive. Have that guy manage their draft.

The biggest failure has been not acquiring another mid round pick with a small trade down. Really, the biggest failure has been the pre-draft trades with which they shit mid round picks away like they were Burger King coupons.

Walker DT from Kentucky was a dude I was really hoping the Cowboys could pick up cheap. Big dude can move and mess shit up, super high ceiling. He gone. Fourth round. Furk.

The Mingo trade pick is...

Trevor Etienne, RB Georgia. Probably more of a complimentary back, but a pretty good player.

I don't haver high hopes for Mingo, but I'm not writing it off either. He has skills to be productive if he has any kind of brain to match.  They didn't have much time to work him in last season. Odds aren't great, but he needs to be worth this pick, even as a competent third guy.
