If you didn't give into his insane demands you could hope to tank and start over with someone on a rookie deal and spend the money elsewhere. We're probably looking at another few years at least of hoping to steal a WC bid only to get blown out before you can clean house and try again. Even that doesn't look great if JJ is the one calling shots on the rebuild.

Niners were definitely beatable, about as beatable as they are ever going to see any time soon. Coaches suck. So does ou
October 28, 20241 yr Dak is a scapegoat. The team flat out sucks. They are below average at all position groups outside of linebacker and cornerback (if they were all healthy). Dak and Lamb's contracts are easy to point at, but those 2 aren't why they are losing games. 2 players can't overcome a shitty roster in the NFL. All of the hate should be directed at Jones. He's not even close to that. But yes it is Jerry's fault for signing him to that contract since Dak wouldn't take less than everything he could and Jerry is too proud to let go of the QB he "found". It was well within Dak's right to get everything he could and good for him.

The bullshit thing is that Jerry had all the leverage (contract year, Dak wasn't planning on holding out) and he completely gave it away. Just bad business. Let the year play out then work a deal. What's the worst that could happen? Dak plays great and earns top pay? Awesome! Alternatively if he sucks, like he does, let him walk or sign him at a discount. Unless we draft lights out, or can find someone stupid enough to take Dak's contract off our hands, we're gonna be bad for awhile.

October 31, 20241 yr They've also been this terrible with 2 borderline franchise QBs back to back for the last 18 years. How do you not at least blind luck into one NFC title game in 18 years with a franchise QB? Even the Bears lucked into a super bowl appearance with Rex fucking Grossmann in that time. It's why I really wanted to see Dak leave after the season. If he was able to go to another team with some talent and get to an NFC title game that would seal the deal with more than the mountain of circumstantial evidence already available. Fat Mike and all coaches contract in last year. Dak playing on final year. CeeDee playing out. Tons of cap room with lots of old talent contracts gone.
