Goal scorers get the headlines but the best player on the USWNT is  Girma

  • Emma Hayes just won the gold and went undefeated with the same team that scored like 2 goals aside from drubbing Vietnam in the World Cup.  Almost the exact same starters minus Alex Morgan.   Coaching

We're too often unintelligent in attack. And it was an issue at the WC under a different coach.

Think the current pool is lacking a little football IQ.

Our midfield is not good. Rodman has to come back for the ball and carry it forward herself.

Perfect example there of Rodman just running into the defender

Japan looking dangerous. US women too many touches in traffic, as per usual, instead of quick, decisive passing.

Agree.  Our front 3 seems very nervous and Horan keeps giving the ball away.  Lavelle and Albert have shown signs that they could open Japan up

Horan has been a turnover machine in the games I’ve watched.

We’re too static overall. Need to start making runs and passing with anticipation. It looks like we’re terrified of losing possession.

This is the issue, it’s made even worse playing a team like Japan.   We have no midfielders that can create anything.

Every play should run through Lavelle. She’s the only one on this team who can open up the attack with brilliant, quick passes

Its like watching a NFL team it’s 3 excellent WRs but a donkey for a QB

Rose looking for passes and her forwards are just slowly backing into defenders like Shaq in the low post. Sigh.

What about a Bronco with donkey-like buckteeth?

Horan is certainly capable of it but she has sucked for the last 150 minutes

We need to get Smith’s lazy ass off the field. I started watching at halftime and I don’t think she’s touched the ball once.

Her touches and technique have just looked goofy as hell this tournament. She’s made lot of bouncing, slow passes, in addition to the turnovers.

How do you have a first touch that bad?

Rodman is having a bad game. She’s otherwise been great in the Olympics.

A bright spot: Dunn has markedly improved her 1-on-1 defending. She looks like a different player.

Rodman sitting wide open it takes us 5 fucking hours to get the ball up then we turn it over.

Get these gals some smelling salts or something jfc.

I wouldn’t be shocked if it was negative.

Ref is awful by the way

That was a terrible no-call.

Feels like we need to sub someone in that can bring some energy

we're getting cannonblasty

long-range strikes find frame when you are on the front foot not when 9 team mates are facing you back to goal

By energy I'm assuming you mean a functional knowledge of attacking football and ball progression.

Lynn Williams time. I’d be tempted to take 1 of mids off for her.

Regardless if the cause is a lack of knowledge or a lack of energy, our attackers need to start moving off the ball ASAP.

Julie Foudy have a daughter on the bench or something?  I mean we do need to get some subs in but she's really beating that dead horse.

Smith get your ass up off the grass and play some soccer.

Albert’s touch today is as delicate as her social media posting.

Has this ref called a single foul on Japan?

Been waiting all game to post that?

Lavelle is the only non-defender playing with any moxie. Get her someone off the bench she can connect with.

Feels like Japan has 2-3 extra players on the pitch. We’re so slow and predictable it’s amazing they don’t have more steals

Need Shaw in there

Horan had the perfect opportunity to pass into a streaking attack and instead turned back to the center. wtf?

Two fouls on US, two fouls on Japan. He's been consistent ... in that he swallowed his whistle.
