Massive win, especially considering Texas was down 11 and in foul trouble very early.

OU SUCKS!

Tonight looked like Vic realized he has to play Lee huge minutes. She's too good to be on the bench.

Most reliable 3 ball

12 point comeback is the largest since 2019

That’s shocking to me. A 12 point deficit isn’t that much in basketball, so I assumed it would happen more often than once every 6 years. If we were USCe it would make more sense considering they are almost never down 12 points in any game, but that hasn’t always been the case with us over the past 6 years. I imagine we have been down 12+ points in a game at least 20 different times over the past 6 years

But it's 12 point deficit and still won.  I'm guessing most of those you're thinking of, we did not win in the end.  Maybe came back to tie the game, take a lead but ultimately lost.

Or maybe it's on the road, idk.  Honestly, some of those early Vic teams would probably fail to come back from a 12 point deficit.  Jordan Lee is a difference maker.

A reliable 3 point shooter changes the dynamics of this team dramatically.

Also good to have Rori aggressively looking to score.

Hard to make 12 point come backs when you rarely trail by 12.  I'd bet in 75% of the loses they haven't even trailed by 12 in the game.

Rori is currently 4th on the team in ppg, behind Booker and Jones/Oldacre.  She's definitely in a score more often mindset.  Loved her quotes about how this game was kinda personal for her, because we lost 2 close games to OU last year and she didn't get to play in either.  She would have made the difference.

Lee is currently at 50% BTA (18-36).  She and Booker (48.1%) need to shoot more from there.  Holle has regressed significantly (28%).

I am ready for a Harmon-Lee-Booker-Carlton-Jones/Oldacre starting 5.

But have to give props to A-Mo hitting those late FTs, because she's not a good FT shooter.

Bad game or welcome to the big league?

Little of both, probably.  Hoping for a bounceback against Arky on Sunday,

I'll bet she's not as focused on Bball at this point of her life. Don't know.

Yeah, that's the winning lineup.

Plenty of quality off the bench as well.

Same, I always have hesitation at 5th year players who didn't have a RS/medical RS and might not be fully engaged in their last season. Burn out is real. Holle will not be a pro player and might be ready to start real life.

But she's probably a huge asset in practice when it comes to mentoring the younger players, like Preston and Lee, on culture, discipline, defense, etc.

Her technique has more moving parts to go wrong too, since she triggers with the bunny hop and uses her entire body to line up and generate the force to get the ball to the rim.

I agree. I think that lineup gives us the ability to put more points on the board in the first quarter. The current starting lineup takes a while to get going it seems, hence the 9 point deficit at the end of Q1.

If we get the Harmon and Lee we did from last night we are title contenders.

Vic said winning an SEC road game is like 1.5 wins.  Not a lot of teams are going to go to Norman and hold OU to 2-16 BTA and force 25 turnovers.

If not for the refs, Texas beats down OU by 15-20.

Sunday - Arkansas, the worst of the SEC, at 7-9 (0-1)
1/9 - Alabama, 14-1 (1-0)
1/12 - @ SoCar, 13-1 (1-0)
1/16 - @ Auburn, 9-5 (0-1)
1/20 - Maryland (neutral-ish), 11-3 (1-2)
1/23 - Tennessee, 13-0 (1-0)
1/26 - @ Ole Miss, 10-3 (1-0)
1/30 - Mizzou, 11-5 (0-1)

I'm really hoping for 6-2 in that stretch - it's tough.  NR, #19, #4, NR, #8, #15, #25, NR

she’s still a good player too. Holle is a good defender and throws her body around on the boards.

The reality is she should just be more of a role player off the bench because Lee was a top 5 recruit for a reason. The talent levels are just different.

And she should be the first guard off the bench, alongside Preston, to spell Harmon and Lee.

The key last night was Harmon. She was aggressive which forced help that lead to Oldacre offensive rebounds and open looks for Jones/Lee. Harmon is too passive at times.

When Harmon is aggressive like that we are a completely different team.

Nooooooooooooooooooo

Other than to say if it’s obvious someone is having an off day and/or someone is having a great day, adjust the minutes accordingly within reason and within lineup favorability.

Which may have been warranted yesterday, I didn’t watch. But if she was playing good defense and rebounding, maybe it wasn’t a horrible game just because of terrible shooting.

None of our PFs did much in that game -

Carlton 0-9 (0-1), 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, 3 fouls in 22 min
Moore 1-2, 4-4 FT, 1 rebound, 2 steals, 1 turnover, 3 fouls in 17 minutes

Just felt like a super weird game where our 4 players just kinda disappeared, but Rori, Taylor, Kyla and Lee picked up the slack.

Carlton is a good player - there is going to be some freshman inconsistency, but I’m all for getting her as many minutes as possible.

Especially with Moore struggling mightily this year.

I was trying to think of who was going to be our leading scorer this year and I've narrowed it down to 5-6 players.....

Not saying the general sentiment is incorrect, but Holle is just not wired that way.

She had like 3 or 4 shots that rattled in and out last night.

It was just a weird night for her because she was still getting good looks that she normally hits.

Carlton finished +9 last night. 3rd best on the team.

She's critical against teams like OU because she's athletic enough to get out on the perimeter but also big enough to defend in the paint. Also, she's such a good shooter that she forces bigs outside the paint which creates more room for our guards to get to the rim.

She was +9 last night for a reason. A poor shooting night and she was still that impactful.

yeah, I think Vic realized after that one he needed to trust the young players more.

20-13 Texas after 1

Lee’s 3 is so pure

Taylor Jones didn't play in the first half. I hope its scheduled rest and not an injury. Carlton and Oldacre have been playing the 5 today

They said it’s a head/neck thing but not long term.

40-25 Texas at half

OU up 46-39 on undefeated Tenn in Knoxville

Vic gave a good blueprint for forcing OU turnovers - 17 so far in the first half, after we forced 27
