from social media videos that I've seen, there are too many white women, especially older, who seem to believe that it's acceptable to struggle against being arrested. When a cop starts to put on the handcuffs, the handcuffs are going on with or without a struggle. There are plenty of other arrestees who would have accidentally fallen down a stairway in the aftermath of this arrest.

the more you struggle the tighter the cuffs get.

Right. my favorite is when the woman is yelling that they're hurting her as she violently twists her body back and forth. I doubt the cops go out of their way to hurt an older woman and the cuffs may be relatively loose if you let them do their job.

In my experience there is no more entitled group than old white women.  They seem to genuinely believe that they can say and do whatever they want without consequence.  My own dear mother is a fine example.

Tina Peters, just sentenced to 9 years in prison, told the judge that people who want her to go to prison are in trouble because God doesn’t like people messing w/his kids & she is a child of God. She then said she couldn’t go to prison because she sleeps on a special mattress.

For anyone wondering, she was clerk in Mesa County, Colorado.  That's in CO-3.

#206

The thing I like about the Tina Peters story is that she's given us a nice shorthand for the DOJ and/or any other law enforcement authority worth a shit to use as shorthand if any assholes try fuckery this time around.

Day after the polls close, some asshole clerk in Georgia starts making noise about not certifying their local county votes - DOJ shows up and says "you have one chance to get this right.  Get this wrong, and I will Tina Peters your ass, and you'll be getting ass-fucked in prison this time next year and for 9 years after.  We did it to her, we'll do it to you.  Choose wisely."

well, yeah, they used to murder little black boys just for the mere suggestion that he looked at one. they've been on a pedestal for a while

It's one of the most delightful things on the internet.  Seeing the entitled "laws don't apply to ME!  Just to, you know.....those 'other' people" crowd get the law applied to them is fucking glorious.  The living embodiment of the "I'm someone who the law protects, but does not bind" ethos, and then she gets it shoved up her ass.  It's awesome.

When the cuffs go on, they think they are back in their bedroom and so of course they are going to "resist arrest". What's hilarious is when they blank out and start uttering their safe phrase, meanwhile the cop is like "why they fuck do you keep screaming about how you're not stuck in the dryer anymore, there's no fucking dryer out here, it's the shoulder of a highway!"

What does it even mean?  The federal government doesn't register voters.  It doesn't have the data to evaluate voter registrations, certainly not any more than the states where they're registered.

What the fuck?

Ah, I see it's to CIS to verify citizenship.

Holy shit. Trump ally Roger Stone was just caught on tape saying Republicans are purging 1 million voters from the rolls in Florida and plan to do the same in North Carolina, Nevada, and Wisconsin.WHERE IS THE MEDIA????

#241

Even as fat, lazy and stupid as America is; if an election swings because a million registered voters were purged at the last moment... GQP gonna wish they had enacted some gun control when they had the chance.  Next President will probably get to appoint 6 Supreme Court justices on day 1.

I think you're under-estimating how fat, lazy and stupid Americans are.  Not a goddamned thing would happen, except Republican totalitarianism.

New: DOJ sues Virginia, saying the state is unlawfully trying to systematically remove voters from the rolls within 90 days of a federal election. DOJ filed a similar suit recently against Alabama.

In 2020, Gov. Brian Kemp told Trump he had no authority under Georgia law to overturn the election. Here’s the bad news: the law has changed. Kemp, who’s now kissed and made up with Trump, can not only refuse to certify the election, he could be required to if Harris wins.

According to NPR: "In North Carolina, where the destruction is more severe and the Trump campaign is calling for more voter access, Trump won 51.6% of the affected counties compared to Biden’s 48.4% – 783,330 to 735,009."But your point on voter suppression absolutely stands.…

I honestly have no idea if Charlotte and the suburbs were damaged as heavily as other areas, but it would not shock me if by disenfranchising X number of Republicans, they can eliminate X plus more Democrats.
