don't announce them if you want to play 2 minutes of stupid music...

I have never seen a final that across-the-board close. I mean, look at that photo finish. The whole field is all packed within a couple of meters of each other.

This is the tightest field I can recall without a doubt

So about that ...

See the subsequent post where I said I hoped he would win. Good on him for backing it up.

Yeah run a 9.8 and don’t medal

I still cant tell who won that damn race

WOW - Why was I thinking they didn't time past hundreds of a second? I think in swimming they call it a tie since they feel they can't get the distance totally exact between lanes.

Announcers really blew that call. Declared Thompson the winner and then failed to realize Lyles was declared the winner for about 20 seconds. Butchered it.

I'll keep saying it: If Lyles gets off the line quickly and comes through the turn in first, he's going to throw down a 19.2 in the 200m final.

I honestly wasn't sure Lyles had medaled watching the live broadcast.  The finish line camera told a different story.

I thought it went Thompson-Lyles-Kerley until they showed the slow-mo with a better angle.

Fuck me, that was a fun day of track!!!

Yeah, that’s what I just texted a buddy.

Lyles told the whole USA he won about half a minute before nbc did.

Believe that gold tied us up with China.

China is fucked. We will finish with the most golds. Also most medals and most points.

you know how I know the announcers clearly werent in the stadium??  and were probably live casting from a studio?

yeah, cause they showed Lyles celebrating for what seemed like 30 seconds, pulling off his nametag, and runnning around the stadium screaming america.

and it took forever for them to announce his win.

And this picture only makes it even more confusing.

live I though Lyles got him.  what a comeback.  dude was dead last at one point.

and yeah....no one is going to every run 9.58 again.

thats gotta be a huge adrenaline rush. Train your whole life for  a  contest that lasts just under 10 seconds, and is decided by .005s.

I assumed they were just waiting for someone in their ear (who wasn’t in the stadium) to tell them instead of looking up at the scoreboard.

Chest is what determines finish, not head, legs or arms.

Each line you see is drawn across the chest of the competitors, theoretically right at the finish.

Lyle’s torso is across first. Thompson’s is .005 behind.

Yeah, that's what crazy. Bolt blew those guys away today.

Semi-P.S./should have said earlier, Lyles team has got to be trademarking, "America....I told you...I...GOT...THIS!" right about....now.

Bolt would have backpedaled to the line..

Probably missed out on 5 swimming golds by a total of 1.1 seconds

He's the 🐐 for a reason. Nobody today can touch what Usain, Yohan, Tyson and Justin were throwing down 10-15 years ago. But such is sport. Others will come along.

Keep in mind that Noah is a 200m specialist. Kerley originally featured in the 400m. Now they are Olympic medalists in the 100m. So when some pure 100m specialists appear, the times will drop accordingly.

Even so, who cares? We just witnessed the closest 100m final ever!
