Image lookup on Google brought up a Reddit post that said it is a heat shield for the connector to your exhaust. I would take it back to where you got it and get them to clip it back in place.

Not the worst case of car hemorrhoids I've seen.

I looked up the issue on reddit and they said the problem is late stage capitalism and systematic discrimination against manufacturing employees resulting in shoddy construction which leads to excess waste and climate damage. The only way to fix it is to adopt a cat and abandon your parents.
