he was awesome to watch as a youngster when i was just picking up golf.

and he was a big enough star to be mentioned on WKRP.  RIP

Saw him at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf that was held at Onion Creek in the 80's.  He barely broke stride to hit the ball - walked up, hit, kept walking.  No practice strokes or waggles or anything.

Hell yeah.  Was out there several times and he always put on a show.

My claim to fame is when Arnold Palmer hit one off the right side of number 9, I think, as I was walking by so I got to be right by him and he flicked his cig right at my feet just before he hit.  Full swing prep, he had it in his mouth.

I saw him a coupler of times at the World Series of Golf on the practice range at Firestone.  When he was on the range I'd go over and he would entertain people with golf tricks and jokes.  He seemed like a genuinely good human being.

RIP, Chi Chi

He did that on the course as well.  He walked up, hit his ball, and walked over a chatted with a my friend and I while waiting for the other golfer to hit.

Yep. I was there and remember that. Very unusual.   I was lucky enough to get his autograph.

I still have a hat signed by him and Trevino from The Legends at BC.
