August 9, 20241 yr A true gentleman and fine golfer and an even better human being. I still have a hat he signed for me at an exhibition charity round he played in Michigan. Keep waving that sword on that big golf course in the sky. https://www.pgatour.com/article/news/latest/2024/08/08/chi-chi-rodriguez-dies-passes-away-age-88-juan-antonio-puerto-rico
August 9, 20241 yr he was awesome to watch as a youngster when i was just picking up golf. and he was a big enough star to be mentioned on WKRP. RIP
August 9, 20241 yr Saw him at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf that was held at Onion Creek in the 80's. He barely broke stride to hit the ball - walked up, hit, kept walking. No practice strokes or waggles or anything.

My claim to fame is when Arnold Palmer hit one off the right side of number 9, I think, as I was walking by so I got to be right by him and he flicked his cig right at my feet just before he hit. Full swing prep, he had it in his mouth.
August 9, 20241 yr I saw him a coupler of times at the World Series of Golf on the practice range at Firestone. When he was on the range I'd go over and he would entertain people with golf tricks and jokes. He seemed like a genuinely good human being. RIP, Chi Chi

I was lucky enough to get his autograph.
