I could see Lance Liepold for UW, but he has Jaylon Daniel’s coming back a and a new stadium on the way, wonder if he’s committed to making KU competitive in football long term.

Yep.  Basically everyone that turned down aggy.

But what we really want is Matt Campbell to be the next head football corch at Udub.

Something about this just doesn't sound right.

I think y’all shit too much on Matt Campbell, but UW coming off a title game appearance isn’t going to hire him, they’ll need a bigger name, or a coordinator from a powerhouse before Campbells name would even come up.

Sources: Arizona coach Jedd Fisch has emerged as Washington’s top target for the head coaching job. He’s the only candidate Washington officials have engaged with after their initial phone calls. Expect clarity in the near future.

Really thought he’d stay at Arizona and wait out Napier’s firing to take the UF job

Why do that when he can get a raise this year *and* next when Florida takes him from UW?

Don't be Matt Campbell when you have the chance to improve your station.

Probably bc he can win the Big 12 and make the CFP next year at Arizona and command a fatter fucking contract from UF then. Washington is decimated by graduation, NFL and transfers. Unless he’s bringing his whole roster to Seattle

I was mildly concerned when his name was floated at swagland.  I think he would be a great hire for Wash

This does not sound optimum:

Arizona AD Dave Heeke has called for a meeting in the next half hour with the players. The meeting will be with the NIL collective and the players. There’s a standoff between both sides as the NIL collective wants Brent Brennan and the players want Johnny Nelsen. Things are…

He was the DC at Indiana in 2019 when DeBoer was the OC.  Smells a little like Herman filling out his staff w/ all of his buddies, but he had some success at South Alabama.  Applewhite to get promoted?

People view Womack as an up and comer, so it’s an interesting move.

Don't get the Brennan hire at all.  Dude has had 1 good season - Covid 2020.  Can't find any relationship between him and the AD either, which usually exists when a hire like this is made.

SJSU has the lowest football budget in the MWC.  They've been to 13 bowls ever, and 3 of them are from Brennan in the last 4 seasons.

I suspect he comes with a very broke school friendly contract.

Brennan finished 2nd to Fisch 3yrs ago when Arizona interviewed him for the Wildcat Head Coaching job.  At SJSU he's done a great job with a lot less resources and he really wants the Arizona job.  Brennan seems like a long time solution who probably won't leave Arizona unless he's fired or retires.

Looks like Brennan's hire is already paying dividends...

Hearing that Noah Fafita and Tetairoa McMillan are staying at @ArizonaFBall. WR coach Kevin Cummings would be key to that effort.

Quite literally the lowest possible bar to clear.

This makes the most sense, I suppose.  Still find it hard to believe that if they were going to go against the player's wishes, that they couldn't pick up a G5 HC w/ a better record.  It's not like there aren't several with better numbers out there.

Silverfield is 31-18 and just won 10 at Memphis.  No losing seasons.
Helton is 40-26 and just won 9 at WKU. 4/5 winning seasons.
Albin is 23-16 w/ back-to-back 10 win seasons at Ohio.

No, he really hasn't.  He's done a solid job at a shitty program, and those are not the same thing.  Mike McIntyre did a great job at SJSU.

I would have leaned toward Helton.  He was a part of the first 2 seasons at WKU when Brohm started that turnaround.  He was then hired by his brother to be QB coach and passing coordinator at USC.  First season at WKU, they improved by 6 wins over the previous year.  Helton's contract pays him $900k per year.

Brennan was making about $2.3mm at SJSU.  Fwiw, $2.3mm in San Jose goes about as far as $900k in Bowling Green, KY.  :)

Looks like Brennan will make around $3.1mm next year w/ $200k raises each year.  They could have gotten Helton for a bit less, I presume, but no one asked me.
