Drake isn’t exactly Dabo’s kind if you know what I mean.

Why does Dabo hate Canadians?

Maybe Drake is the halftime of the SEC game.  Zac Brown had the pregame.

What’s that have to do with Drake being in OKC?

Tomorrow or Monday sounds like…

According to a report from John Hoover of All Sooners on Sports Illustrated, Oklahoma is making preparations for an introductory press conference on Sunday or Monday.

This whole process has played out as if they're keeping it under wraps while waiting for today's games to finish. Which leads me to believe it's either Fickell, Aranda, or possibly Lanning (maybe Gundy but that would be a crazy move).

Most likely Fickell. #2 guess would be Aranda.

I don’t like either choice.  Can I pick again?

If it's BV & Lebby, bring it you fuckityfucks.

Sark better come out of his shell and lead.

I don’t want to hear about whatever nasty, disgusting things those people are going to do when nobody’s watching.

Gundy?! Like Mike?! No way ever. Cale? Please do that shit. Fickell ain’t leaving until CFP is off the table. Could be Lanning or Aranda. Aranda is the best choice imo

Anybody ever see Aranda and Bull from Night Court in the same place at the same time?

So, sounds like OU will hire Dan Lanning from Georgia.  Didn’t see that coming.

Being dispute now too, so not sure its Lanning. Would be a bad move for Ou sux  based on the garbage defense we saw in the Bama game tonight

BREAKING: Oklahoma Names Dan Lanning New Head Football Coach

Ryan Chapman

Lanning is touted as one of the rising stars in the profession, and his Georgia defense has dominated college football this season.

Oklahoma’s week-long coaching search has come to a close.

OU athletic director Joe Castiglione will name Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning as the next head coach for the Sooners.

Lanning, just a 35-year-old, has had a meteoric rise through the coaching ranks, landing him in Norman in charge of one of the biggest brands in college football.

Born in Kansas City, Lanning played linebacker at William Jewell College from 2004-2007 before working his way through the coaching ranks.

Out of William Jewell, he spent three seasons at Park Hill South High School before getting his shot on a college staff.

Lanning then spent one year at Pittsburgh as a graduate assistant in 2011 under then-head coach Todd Grahambefore following Graham to Arizona State for the next two seasons.

He then went to Sam Houston State for a year, serving as the defensive backs coach in 2014 before landing as a graduate assistant at Alabama in 2015.

Lanning got his first major chance to impress a season later, where he served as the inside linebackers coach in 2016 and 2017 before arriving at Georgia in 2018.

After spending a season as the outside linebackers coach, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart promoted Lanning to the defensive coordinator in 2019, the post he’s excelled at since.

This year, Lanning has led college football’s best defense, as the Bulldogs are holding opponents to an NCAA-best 6.92 points per game. Georgia also boasts the No. 1-ranked total defense, allowing just 230.8 yards per game this year.

More than just a stellar defensive mind, Lanning has already built a reputation for being one of the most energetic and effective recruiters in the country.

Georgia currently has the No. 2-ranked recruiting class per Sports Illustrated All-American, and Lanning has earned the commitments of five defensive prospects rated in the top 100 by 247 Sports.

Young and hungry, Lanning could be equipped to pick up right where Lincoln Riley left off on the recruiting trail, but he brings other assets to the table which Castiglione hopes will take OU’s program even higher.

Though he brings no prior head coaching experience to the table, just like Riley did when he took over, Lanning’s defensive background should bring an element of toughness to the table that Riley’s teams lacked.

Pair that with his firsthand knowledge of the SEC, and the Sooners may be better prepared to jump conferences and still find success in the SEC in the coming years.

Besides, it’s hard to imagine Bob Stoops will just fade to the background after the bowl game. Lanning will have the College Football Hall of Famers to lean on, just as Riley did five years ago.

Now, Lanning must hit the recruiting trail, as the Sooners still have members of the 2022 class he must convince to stay aboard, plus Lanning must get to work meeting the current OU roster as he will look to keep as many current players out of the transfer portal as possible heading into next season.

I’m choosing to ignore this stuff. This would be an underwhelming hire. It’s Kirby’s defense…that was just torched.

Venables is better in every way.

I’d take him over sark, theres a chance he turns into a great coach

interesting hire

Dabo hates shitty music?

I have a feeling this is going to be a clusterfuckdisaster of Muschamp-esque proportions. Can’t wait.

Edit: Lanning to OU that is

Georgia's defensive scheme is all Kirby Smart and Lanning is considered a good recruiter because of Georgia's bag game. Not to mention Lanning has limited experience recruiting Texas.

That would be a very underwhelming hire and the Texas boards would melt if we made a similar level hire. If OU makes this work they have figured out the hiring process because there's no reason this hire should work on paper.

If it is Lanning, I'm convinced that OU has the poors based on their recent hires in other sports and the fact they lost Riley.

There's a chance Lanning turns into a great coach just like every other coach with no head coaching experience. 90% of the time these type hires fail.

Texas would get roasted if they hired somebody like Lanning.

Yes but at the same time Texas got an OC with shitty head coaching experience.

Yeah, and Sark wasn’t a good hire based on resume.

Texas and OU can both make bad hires.

True.

They can come down to the abyss with us.

Apparently Chris Lowe is reporting that if Mario leaves for Miami then Oregon’s #1 target will be chip Kelly. @Sbbruin might get sucked in regardless of not firing the guy.

Last night they're insiders were saying they interviewed Aranda five minutes after the Big 12 title.
