Lincoln Riley to NFL

Sure does seem like his agent found a better landing spot.

I’m pumped about the Collins hire. We didn’t do the safe boring thing and hire Ken Whisenhunt, we took a chance on a young, big personality with Atlanta and GT ties. Good article about him:

Good hire IMO. Curious how he'll recruit.

Gil Brandt believes he's like a "young Tom Landry".

The 85-year-old former vice president of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys said he knows Riley as well as anybody in the coaching business. Brandt worked in the Cowboys organization from 1960-89 and is now an analyst for NFL.com.

“I don't think that he'll ever leave Oklahoma as long as they treat him fairly,” Brandt said. “I think he loves the school, he loves recruiting, he loves building something. I think he would be great, but I don't ever think he'll leave OU.”

A half century separates Riley and Brandt in age, but they developed a relationship almost 10 years ago when Riley was an assistant at Texas Tech. Brandt got to know the young coach as Riley recruited Dallas-area prospects. They've since kept in touch. Caitlin Riley recently sent Brandt a picture of him and Lincoln. They exchange Christmas cards. Brandt sent gifts when Riley's daughters were born.

When Bob Stoops was searching for a new offensive coordinator after the 2014 season, he got a call from Brandt, who wanted to pitch Riley for the job. But as Brandt started talking, Stoops started laughing.

“What are you laughing about?” Brandt asked Stoops.

Stoops told him that Riley was sitting outside his office, about to be interviewed.

Brandt's belief in Riley has only solidified in the last season and a half. Riley is 19-3 as Oklahoma's coach, and the 7-1 Sooners are in the hunt for another College Football Playoff appearance.

“Lincoln Riley can do anything in the world that he wants to do,” Brandt said. “He's as good as any college coach there is in America. He could be president of the United States and be good. He could be an NFL coach and be really good. The guy is an unusual talent.”

Oklahoma's offense has ranked top-10 nationally in every season since Riley arrived in 2015. OU ranked first nationally in total offense last season, averaging 580 yards per game. The Sooners are averaging 548 yards per game this season — fourth in the country — despite averaging more yards per play than a year ago.

The "school" that hired Ian McCaw, who helped cover up the systemic abuse of young women at Baylor? Not really shocked at all that they hire a guy that uses escorts (using a state provided phone open to FOIA requests, what a retard).

There's got to be something behind this. Is KS a dumpster fire or something behind the scenes? Strange move to not move up to a P5 conference.

Be very intrerested to see how this goes.  Klieman took over an already hugely successful juggernaut at NDSU - Kansas St is not that.

Could be that Seth does not mind his set up at UNT and perhaps KSU told him they are talking to others before making a decision in their most recent conversation. Seth walked away knowing he has a solid team coming back and jobs will be plenty every year. or maybe the ou play is real.

One thing ou has proven with how the Stoops/Riley hand off took place. Any changes will happen after recruiting is secured and they can publicly shame any players wanting to transfer since they will already be signed or enrolled.

[HINT]Possibly a better job available?[/HINT]

My guess is Littrell knows he has next year as well (has the offensive POY at QB coming back) to find the job he wants.

Maybe he thinks next year a better job (Okie State, ISU, or something similar due to the coaching carousel) may be open vs going to follow a legend at KSU.

Under new rules if a coach leaves right after signing day, can't the recently signed kids get out of commitments and not have to sit out a year when they transfer??

One of reasons cited for Urban Liar resignation announcement prior to NSD1.....

Well combine being the guy to follow the legend the stadium is named after, having to keep parts of the old staff that doesn’t fit your offensive philosophy and KSU playing hardball with the new buyout amount in his contract abd I would say get bent as well.

Will be real telling if the end up with the ND guy with Sean Snyder on the staff..

Total cluster fuck, this is what happens when you hire an assistant ad from north Dakota to make your football hire. It's so hard being a cat fan sometimes.

Littrell not going to Purple Kansas is a dodged bullet for him.  It's extremely difficult to win there and if he wants a big time job after that, K-State is not a good stepping stone.  They also seem more interesting in placating Snyder.

He'll have other spots next year at much better stepping stone programs.

This shit is feeling cultish. Almost joepa territory without the rape. Very weird and i wouldn't blame klieman for staying put since ndsu is the better program as they stand

Hah. Rape enabler at a "college" loves a cheater that likes escorts.

"Liberty University is a Christian academic community in the tradition of evangelical institutions of higher education." indeed.

The fall (they haven't really every gone up) of Liberty will be glorious. All thanks be to God. I'm sure all the good Christian alumni are horrified that McCaw and now Freeze were hired, right? Right?

Freeze: I beat Bama 2 years in a row.

Aubrun: [thinking while raising an eyebrow and scratching chin] "He has a point......"

Yeah, there was some confusion there. He was asking for 3 whores, not 3 years.
