Always kinda liked the Breakup Song.  Jeopardy not so much.  Just realized the latter kinda ripped off Santana's Evil Ways.

I can't ever listen to Jeopardy and not think of Weird Al.

RIP. Big part of the early 80's soundtrack, imo.

Damn. I saw him open for Rick Springfield at the MN state fair in '82 when I was just a kid & drug along w/ the family to see the big pop star. Greg & his band blew Springfield off the stage. He kind of embodied any garage band across the land, but one that had a couple of bona fide hits.

+1

The first song that my garage rock band ever performed live was "the breakup song."

My bass-player friend and I were at a pretty good-sized house party, and another band had set up a PA.  They took a break, and we asked if we could play a few songs and borrow their drummer.  The next day, he defected and became *our* drummer.  Great guy, and - by a lot - the most talented guy in the garage.  I think he got a music degree from North Texas.

Decades later, and we'll still text one another when one of us hears it come on in the grocery store (or wherever).  It's still a great song.

RIP

Didn’t realize until you posted that in my mind I was singing “I lost on jeopardy” instead of “our love’s in jeopardy” as I read the OP.  Sorry bro and rip.

I never paid a dime for his music, but a couple of those hooks, they're undeniable.

Coolest thing about Weird Al's cover was that Greg was totally on board ... as long as he got to be in it.

YouTube won't allow embedding for this vid but it's worth a click if you haven't seen/heard it in a while.

I also enjoy Don Pardo's participation.

Don Pardo, Dr. Demento, Art Fleming, Greg Kihn ... hell, even the "family" shot is probably full of Weird Al's actual relatives.

Those were Al's actual parents.
