Barcelona has looked sloppy most of this first half, while Valencia has played pretty decent. A few good opportunities around the goal.

Didn't realize this was on network ABC today.  Cool

Good for Barca winning the opener.

M'Bappe makes his RM debut against Mallorca today at 2:30 on +

biggest question is whether Real Madrid can do what Leverkusen almost did last year: go through an entire league, Cup, and European tournament season without a loss.

Mallorca ties it up 1-1 early in the 2nd half

since i work from home, i love me some random weekday La Liga games.

on Monday, we had a wild one with Villareal beating Celta Vigo 4-3.  yesterday, Barca beat Rayo Vallecano 2-1 on a goal from new boy Dani Olmos.

today, we've got 4 matches, including Athletic Bilbao v. Valencia at noon and then Atletico Madrid v. Espanyol at 2:30.  hot damn.

Real gets a draw.  they got a PK in the second half.  it was harsh but the right call.  defender was sliding in the box and the ball caught his left arm that was hanging out a bit.  Las Palmas had an 89th minute game winner wiped out for offsides.  it was close but the right call.

it may take Real a month or so to adjust to the new lineup.  but they'll get rolling in time to win another Champions League, i'm sure.

A criminal court in Barcelona has sentenced the former Celta Vigo footballer Hugo Mallo to pay a €6,000 fine and €1,000 in compensation for a crime of sexual abuse for touching the breasts of a woman wearing the Espanyol mascot costume ahead of a match.

The game, between Espanyol and Celta Vigo, took place at the Catalan team's Cornellà de Llobregat stadium in April 2019.

The events occurred during the pre-match team greeting, and when the player greeted the two mascots of Espanyol, one male parakeet, Perico, and one female parakeet, Perica, he put his hands under the latter's costume.

The mascot then stepped back and pushed the player away.

The player denied touching the woman and the defence team had asked for Mallo to be acquitted.

According to the sentence, which the sports newspaper As has had access, "it is proven" that Hugo Mallo "at the time of greeting the members of the opposing team (...) upon arriving at the person in the parakeet costume, with the intention of satisfying his lustful spirit and of undermining her sexual indemnity, put his hands under the costume and touched her breasts, forcing her to step back and push the accused away with her right hand."

The fact that the events occurred five years ago means the footballer avoided a sentencing of 'sexual assault' which is now contemplated by the penal reform of the so-called 'only yes is yes' law, which only came into effect in 2023.

Stupid sexy Flanders parakeet

4-0, that was an asskicking

Betis up 1-0 at half vs Atlético! And they had an extra hour of sleep with clock change.

Boo this. Not my day with both Atletico and Tottenham losing 😢

That really makes them seem like giant pussies.

Well, we do have 4 additional teams in LaLiga to choose from just in the Madrid metro area.

Sounds like Militao might have done his other acl today. Rodrygo went off early with a bad hamstring injury. La Liga and the CL might be wide open unless Ancelotti can work his magic.

Atlético a bit better this week.

Valencia giving people something else happy to think about.

Espanyol looking a little sick.

It's early but Sevilla is looking at least 60% less shitty than usual against Rayo

Did anyone wake up early to watch Barça wipe the floor with Las Palmas at home?

Well, things didn't work out so well! 2-1 Palmas at the end despite like 10 shots in the last 8 min of added time by Barça.

Madrid fell to Bilbao tonight too.

Sevilla playing down 3 players suspended today after this.....

"the questionable penalty awarded by Martínez Munuera for a handball by Diego Llorente during an aerial ball played with his back to the referee, in a position that was completely natural for a jump. This situation, however, has not shaken the referee but rather the players of the Seville team.

In this sense, several Sevilla FC players, after the match which they won thanks to the said controversial penalty, waved a flag with the logo of their fiercest rival (Betis) crossed out, a behavior that could lead to sanctions if the Competition Committee deems it a provocation towards the visiting fans."

Refs would have a fucking stroke over "horns down"

It's only going to hey worse! Madrid is completely dominated.

Madrid slippin' in copa match with Celta. Celta taking advantage of a late penalty to tie the match at 2 with 5 minutes in regular time.
