August 20, 20241 yr Popular Post It's 72 degrees in North Carolina and fall is in the air (apparently not in Texas yet, yikes), and that means college football is BACK this Saturday. We have one potentially spicy upset early, a fun matchup with a lot of familiar faces, and some Sickos content around them. 12 ET / 11 CT: #10 Florida State vs Georgia Tech (in Dublin, Ireland) - ESPN Florida State is probably overranked. Georgia Tech is probably underrated. They're playing in Dublin (this made way more sense when Notre Dame consistently played in it) and it's going to get weird. 4 ET / 3 CT: Montana State @ New Mexico - FS1 A really good FCS program against a really bad FBS program. What makes this fun? It's Bronco Mendenhall's head coaching debut at UNM. That dude can coach. 8 ET / 7 CT: SMU @ Nevada - CBS Sports Like a lot of weird marriages, the Ponies kick off their ACC membership in Reno with a trip to see Jeff Choate's boys. Lots of ex-Texas players and prospects in this one. It's like the ghosts of recruiting threads past: SMU: Moochie Dixon, David Abiara, Billy Walton, Isaac Pearson, Gabriel Lozano /// Camar Wheaton, Deuce Harmon, LJ Johnson, Jonathan McGill, Ashton Cozart, Derrick McFall, Omari Abor, Savion Byrd, PJ Williams. They also have a Chinese player from Zhangjiagang Ivy Experimental, which must a real powerhouse in the Suzhou high school league. UNR: Kitan Crawford, Savion Red, Ky Woods, Kris Ross 12 ET / 11 CT: Delaware State @ Hawaii - Team1 App True Sickos content. I only bring it up because it's already starting off really well:
August 20, 20241 yr That’s one hell of a “snafu” with the busses to JFK for Delaware St, count me intrigued if they end up actually making it to Honolulu or not
August 20, 20241 yr Popular Post Hell, Georgia Tech didn't even receive any votes, if memory serves. They bring back a ton, including rejuvenated asset Haynes King at QB. FSU may not finish the season ranked and has one of the toughest schedules in the country, partly due to early season travel. Somehow, Ga Tech is getting 11.5 in this game. They're less of an underdog to open the season than Clemson is to UGa. I'll be watching this. That SMU roster is bonkers.
August 20, 20241 yr I usually start this thread every year sometime in July but just ran out time this year (Whoop). texifornia needs to do it every year moving forward because it's better than the one I was going to make.

Sounds like you've been voluntold to a new assignment.

It's not our fault everyone else is too ignorant to recruit China. They've got some ballers laying the wood out there. Sorry, raying the wood* Edited August 20, 20241 yr by ztejas

August 20, 20241 yr Anyone have a breakdown of where the money is going on that gt/fsu line? That seems way too easy. Which is why it scares me. Especially since it hasn't moved since opening. Welcome back college football. You've been missed.

August 21, 20241 yr It seems to me that games are closer earlier in the season. And I would think that most teams score less earlier in the season. However, there are some teams which just perform better than others in the first few games - In other words, some teams start strong because of coaching so they are more likely to blow out teams early in the season. Do the numbers back this opinion up?
August 21, 20241 yr I’m mildly surprised ESPN didn’t drop the game on ACCN as a yet another screw you to Florida State. I’m thankful for a quality game a week early, but Norvell should be pissed he has to play a conference game on August 24th for TV.

August 21, 20241 yr Since I need football in my life at week zero, does anyone know if Hulu will carry the Delaware State/Hawaii game?

August 21, 20241 yr Interested to see the dumpster fire at QB for FSU. Haynes King has been much better, so an upset would not shock me. GT laying out NIL will make them a player, and I'm happy for it. Hopefully they win and they become a contender. Seeing GT being serious about NIL and get some dudes will be must watch TV. I'll be watching their games this season.
August 21, 20241 yr I’ll watch SMU although on paper they should dump truck Nevada. The only matchup that really interests me is the Dublin game.

August 22, 20241 yr Does Hawaii still have that Rugby player who is like 6'2" 220 and ran a 10.2 100 that joined team last year but had never played football before? He was from New Zealand. Edited August 22, 20241 yr by Frank Drebin

Latter this year we will be the same ones bitching about decent bowl games that are so boring. It is surprising what good and memorable football does to our memories of what the offseason brings every year.
