  • The great irony of this thread is that Smith turned a position at Texas down when offered to him by Herman who was well aware of his relationship issues. The same Herman who hired Casey Horny.

  • There is no way any of this will affect Tom Herman. However, he will still be fired this year for a losing record.

If he's they guy who's been droppin' dimes to McMurphy, it's a scumbag move, not befitting the HC of an elite university like Texas.  But hardly illegal, or anything like that.  Not sure why you guys

I realize this is an orchestrated effort, but again, he didn't do the right thing in 2015. Urban had the authority to fire Smith in 2015 and chose not to. But then immediately fires him in 2018 when the facts come to light. You can't reconcile that.

Mike MacIntyre allowed an alleged wife beater to remain on his staff after reporting him to the AD, and he still has his job. So there is a precedent. This is obviously the path that Meyer/OSU are trying to follow.

Does Vegas still have urban getting canned?

I'm guessing the guy who had the cops called on him that many times wasn't calm and collected during practices and games.  You don't turn off anger issues like a switch.  Everyone involved with that program knew he was a raging asshole.

Did MacIntyre flat out lie to everyone about his knowledge?

Is lying to the press a fireable offense? I'm not trying to defend Urban; I would love to see him fired and for OSU to gtfo of Texas. Just saying that there is a precedent for a coach reporting a wife beater on his staff (which I don't believe Urban actually did), not immediately firing him, and keeping his job.

Well done, Sir.  Well done.  The whole she didn't tell him premise is complete fiction.

Well we know now he lied. His story is yes I lied at the press conference but really looking back I knew and did in fact do the right thing.

The Univeristy basically has to fire him now. What has happened now is Urban making the settlement more expensive.

On tapa, so May have missed this, but worth repeating with McMurphy throwing haymakers on Twitter.

And the replies are all either he or the wife are shits for all the lying.

So, can someone explain to me how a wide receivers coach is worth this? He must have some serious dirt on Urbie

Has it been confirmed that she was pregnant during the altercation..? That seems to make it appear worse for Urban, if he in fact knew...

And he's 67 fucking years old, so he should know.

The winner in all of this is clearly aggy. In a few days they are going to have one of only two active coaches who have won a natty.

There is.

I finally listened to one of Kirk Herbstreit’s interviews. He sure sounded like he was depressed. I can’t believe he said we all have to wait for judgement, and this is not the what Urban Is about. The laugher for me was his attack on twitter and message board people, when that’s some of where he gets his sources for trashing schools on Gameday.

Urbs reading off of the JoePa playbook..  he acknowledged awarenress of a domestic conflict in 2009 but was never told the details.

I kid you not.

I was explaining this whole ordeal to my wife this morning and asked her "do you think his wife knew and wouldn't tell her husband about it?" Her response was "she probably brought it up constantly." She's speaking from experience.

The question is not if she brought it up, but how often she nagged him about it.

i’m speaking from experience.

Even in divorce, you're still going to hear about other peoples problems when you talk to your ex.

If I were Urban, I'd go with "my wife and I dont talk, I live in the guest house, no further comment"

He is not depressed, he is a pos. He always acts like such a pussy with puppy dog eyes when he is in the wrong.

catching up and the most salient points made here last 24 hours are:

If Urban already did the right thing already in 2015, then why is he on administrative leave and what is tOSU investigating?

So why hasn’t the OSU AD come out and confirmed Urban’s claim to following protocol?

Zach Smith says it never happened.  Urban now says it did and he reported it.  The AD, Gene Smith, has not spoke but he has a choice, either confirm Urban’s statements and he is gone with possible sanctions against osu or he says he was never told and ....... (.....urban is gone?)

tosu is trying to re-establish the point of attack and blame the liberal media.

  1. Urban should be fired for not firing Smith in 2015 and answering tough questions then about why he had/kept that pos on staff.
  2.  The last 3 years should be dirt on his grave.

But that is not tosu way, never has been and never will be. Just like ou, 40 years of history tells you they have an institutional problem.

Urban Meyer is a liar

Zach Smith is a liar.

Why should anyone believe a word either says at this point?

Just happy that this shit wouldn't have flown in Austin. Coaches cheating on chubby ass't trainers..yes but no one going Ike Turner.

I don’t disagree, but I’m constantly irritated that the media and fans (anywhere, for any sport) let coaches stand in front of them and lie every day. We call it “coachspeak”, but what it is is fucking lying. In any other context, someone behaving the way we allow coaches to, when they’re talking in public, would be fired and/or ostracized. Guys like Meyer do it so often and habitually, and add to that his personal hubris and ego, and they’re perpetually at risk of telling the wrong lies when more is at risk. They’re untouchable and whatever they do is correct, so why would they ever give a shit?

The dumbest thing I have seen these last 12 months in sports is seeing Urban Meyer’s antics at B1G media day, and that includes watching Sam Ehlinger make decisions at QB.

As much as the BMDs want MNCs and all, they also don't want to watch their university turn into the butt of jokes like Ped State is.

For some of them, Urban's potential for winning in coming years doesn't match the fact that he and the AD are making OSU look slimy and incompetent on the national stage.

Les Wexner donated $100M to tOSU in ‘11, largest alumni donation in their history.

Wexner founded and chairs the Columbus Coslition Against Family Violence.

tOSU permanently banned and the national charter was stripped from the fraternity Wexner was a a member as a student and active alumni of just this spring .. for conduct unbecoming/embarrassment to the integrity of the University.

Yall do the math.

Les Wexner's going to need to find a new fraternity AND a new football team to cheer for?

So in this scenario, is Wexner looking to take the university down a few notches because they went after his fraternity?

6 minutes ago, atomheartbevo said:

No, his implication is Wexner is so committed to making a difference against domestic violence for Ohioans, that he's willing to personally sacrifice his own fraternity to meet those ends.  If he'll sacrifice something this personal, he'll also escort his "football corch" out the door as well without batting an eye.  I have no idea how active he was with his chapter or the national fraternity, typically fraternity ties mean less as you grow older, but it's a piece of data to keep in mind.

13 minutes ago, atomheartbevo said:

No, Wexner was behind killing the chapter.. constant embarrassment to the University & himself.  He was behind getting them a $6M pad that they trashed & ran amuck in & when he dropped by one day a member asked him what his old ass was doing interrupting their debauchery/didn’t recognize him.

Wexner & family are all over that campus & community.. again, he not only founded the Coalition Against Family Violence.. he’s still  the active chairman.

Okay, wasn't sure, plenty of old frat rats have a weird affection for their frats.

This sounds like Wexner will see that Urban is shown the door.

Yup.

This shit could get epically popcorn worthy if certain parties don’t play the cards the right way.  Every employee in the ADept knew Earle’s grandson was a coke/roid head & protected.. I’d guess most in the building were aware of the abuse issues or st least that the Smith’s had a mofo crazy marriage/divorce.

What’s the total headcount & terminations gonna be after this is all done?

FYI, it’s the Les Wexner Football Complex @ the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.   Mrs Wexner surprised Les on his birthday with that lil happy birthday token.

Holy unleavened bread, that dept may get scorched like a couch on High Street. Wexner certainly isn’t involved nor has knowledge of any simpleton shit that goes on at the meathead center... if the University doesn’t handle this properly we are gonna see a modern day civil war in Buckeyeville.
