Walden answered your question. It was the exact same play. Now, there’s some validity to that given that the defense will probably have a different call. There’s also the fact that any scouting of our offense would reveal that tendency.

Must be nice to have that get out of jail free card in your back pocket as a playcaller.

And I’ll credit GD here with this. The growth exhibited by young as a passer and in defensive recognition  is a star in his crown. My complaint isn’t with his preparation of his charges or usually even his scripting. It’s when he’s left to own devices to call plays.

Meh, two more weeks and we’ll have something more substantial than second hand practice reports to fight over.

Can't come soon enough!!

Bobby Burton: How's Camp Going?

One of the questions we always seem to get is whether or not a particular player is having a "good" camp. Good, as an adjective, is relative. So below are a few categories and where I'd put the players based on the intel I've received:

Great camp
Good camp
Solid camp
Could be doing better
Poor camp

It's important to remember that these are all relative to the expectations of each player. For example, I'm told Sam Ehlinger is in the "could be doing better" category. That doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad camp. It just means that that player hasn't necessarily lived up to expectations to this point.

It's also important to note that freshmen really don't have those preconceived notions even if they come in highly recruited. It's the coaches first real look at many of them. Last but not least, these ratings are certainly not definitive. It's my estimation based on the feedback I've received.

QBs
Shane Buechele - solid camp
Sam Ehlinger - could be doing better
Cam Rising - good camp

What a load of shit.  So much of this goes contrary to what more informed - even if they aren't locked in a- sources have said.  Tre Watson just had the green jersey removed and has to most observers been excellent.  Davion Curtis is surpassing Heard.  Jamison... what should he have done better?  He would have been a redshirt candidate if not for his potential in the return game.  Patrick Hudson?  How about we let him be healthy for a while.  All D'Andre Christmas did was move from a potential transfer to a player who may see meaningful snaps.  How is Caden Sterns camp not considered great?  Kobe Boyce has bulked up from being a tiny mite and is fast as shit and the coaches have heaped praise on him and exhibit confidence in him, yet he was only sold?  Bobby Burton needs to confine himself to Furry Fetish conventions.

If he’s a good kid, that’s a recent development. He was an incredible douche in high school. Entitled, narcissistic douche.

Usually, when message board fans say so-and-so player is a "good kid", what they mean is that they don't get into trouble off the field, aren't a diva on social media, and don't act like a dick on the field; sometimes they have a high GPA, too! I doubt most people on here have any real insights into the character of the 18-22-year-olds we cheer for so ardently.

I know nothing about him except what I've seen on Twitter. He's always positive and seems like a team first type player.

His dad seems like a decent guy on twitter too. Always positive and upbeat about his service. Seems like he comes from a pretty good family.

But maybe he's a "douche" behind the scenes.

Have always loved the All Access program.  Would be nice if we could actually have a good to great season captured behind the scenes.

How are 9.95 sites still 9.95?  They've been that price for almost 20 years.  Completely immune from inflation.

They bought all of their servers in the 90’s, so the pain hasn't really hit yet.

Simple. They’ve always charged 9.95 too much.

I may have too much access to old information. Like I said, my opinion of the kid is based on his actions in high school. His dad was a piece of work, too. Wanted special treatment for his son. Wanted JP excused from certain work outs that he didn’t think his son needed to participate in. Constant gym selfies and look-at-me shit blasted on social media, but didn’t actually work out hard, if at all. Did not have the respect of his teammates or coaches. I’m sure TexPete has covered this stuff pretty thoroughly.

All that said, I won’t ignore the possibility that the kid has had an awakening and learned some humility. I hope he has. I want young people to develop into contributing members of society, and I believe in redemption. If such a transformation has transpired, it’s happened in the last couple of years. I’m just telling you, he was a turd and a waste of potential all through high school. I never had any optimism for his success based 100% on his attitude and personality.
