April 21Apr 21 The good thing is Schloss isn’t letting his roster just lay around and get lazy/fat. Long season and post season drive takes strength and endurance, so I’m pretty sure they work out and exercise on off game days. IMO barring some kind of joint/tissue issue post-season, Jonah will be better off than just reporting for Fall Camp, as the HS’ers used to do July/August, after graduation.Hook’em!!!

April 21Apr 21 Drew Henson was the last guy to play in the MLB and NFL right? And he didn’t do it at the same time. I believe was the last guy to play in both leagues in the same season 2000-2001.

April 22Apr 22 How many two sport athletes ever chose baseball as their sport rather than football? Name me some because I can't really think of any high profile potential football players that opted for baseball. I may just be talking out of my ass but seems like football appeals more to the young ego driven athlete. I get that baseball is safer long term, but the immediate sex appeal of playing a high profile role on Saturdays and Sundays trumps the longer road to make it in baseball. You really can't know which sport is more lucrative, because you can only choose one, and go down that path. Bo Jackson notwithstanding. Â

April 22Apr 22 Donald Harris played both sports and was an all SWC safety at Tech with a bad ass future NFL career, but being picked fifth overall by the Rangers after his sophomore year led him to choose baseball. He futzed around in the Rangers org for too many years, couldn’t hit, and then tried football again with the Cowboys, but it was too late. 7 minutes ago, Mantis Toboggan, MD said: How about ex-Texas QB Adam Dunn That seems to be the obvious one…

But you can’t pass up that #5 money.

He also chose to play football full time at Texas instead of pro baseball initially. He himself said it was the hardest decision he ever had to make.

There is a major hole in that theory/interpretation too, Jonah Williams wasn’t drafted and signed out of HS and isn’t going to leave school for another 3 years. The hypothetical is if Jonah Williams is a potential top 3 round NFL and MLB prospect would he forgo NFL for MLB. The only player to do that in the last 30 years is Samardzija.Â

These two scenarios are drastically different. Jonah decided not to enter the MLB draft when he enrolled early. Adam Dunn didn't do that. He got drafted his senior year of high school and enrolled in Texas afterward. He literally spent less than a year on campus yet did indeed choose originally to play football.

April 22Apr 22 I don't really care about post-Texas career, he should do what he wants and is best for him, but damn he's got a presence as a baseball player that we have not seen in a young one like this in a long while. Happy to see him at DKR but I hope he stays the course with baseball, they are in the hunt for the title this year, and frankly it's hard to see a drop off anytime soon, and he's already a major contributor. Earlier this year I was super jealous of the LSU freshman phenom Derek Curiel, Jonah Williams has a similar feel in his limited playing time.
