September 25, 20187 yr It's already on the agenda. I don't make the rules. I just show up. Was this planned in ‘98? I don’t think anyone has gone to Iron Works this century.

Friday lunch should be Perry's pork chop.
September 25, 20187 yr Bruin, are you asking for advice or are you just telling us which less than stellar restaurants you'll be eating at?
September 25, 20187 yr Yup, I'd skip Ironworks and Lambert's if at all possible. But Eddie V's and Kemuri Tatsuya are both good.

September 25, 20187 yr Bruin, I'm sure the food will be fine. The weather has also been nice. If you get a chance to veer off the beaten path the Elephant Room is a real hidden gem. Great place to take in Austin and relax.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Iron Works because they catered my post-wedding party in 2004, and a group of us from work used to have lunch there often before the growth of new downtown restaurants in the latter part of the 00s. But I haven't been there in several years, and I wonder if they still even get decent foot traffic from the convention center.

September 27, 20187 yr Back in town for the first time since 2012 next weekend for a conference. Staying at JW Marriott. Have a free Monday night dinner, should I try Moonshine?
September 28, 20187 yr Ironworks was fine, but yeah, the brisket lacked much flavor. Doing a little booze cruise on LB lake on our private boat.

Moonshine is fine, but it's not particularly unique.
September 28, 20187 yr Moonshine was filled with tight T-shirt douchebags and the food was below average the two times I was taken there. Tons better options DT.
September 28, 20187 yr Interesting. The few times I have been there it was filled with olds in pleated pants. I think of it as a spot for convention attendees. I don't think the food is bad, but it is certainly not exciting. Very generic southern food.
September 28, 20187 yr If you squint, you can see the spot at the top right of the far upper deck where my shitty season tickets were, and where my (now ex-) wife looked at me when 66-3 hit halftime and said "give me the car keys". I did, and just followed her out. That was the most brutal day. Unbearably hot, and a monumental ass-kicking. Fuck you John Mackovic.

I went to UT two summers way back (01, 02) abd grew up in Longview but moved to Pennsylvania in 2006 and only been back twice but really never downtown. Looking for southern style that we can get to from the JW Marriott, treat abd over to Scoot in about a 2 hr total span so traffic fucks me over there a bit. Probably will meet friends Sunday night for tacos so something not Tex-Mexico whatever.

Both should be an easy uber ride to Scoot after dinner.
September 29, 20187 yr Kemuri was outstanding. Lambert's was excellent. Just munched a couple of breakfast tacos at Taco Shack. Need to shit immediately.
September 30, 20187 yr What did you have at Lambert's? I've always loved the building but never thought the Q was special.
