GO ARMY!  BEAT NAVY!

Now having said that.  I've been chipping in on this and it's predecessor threads for years as I'm 6th Gen Army (dad is one of the few folks you'll meet that was shot with a Ma Deuce and lived, Grandad landed on Normandy with the 4th ID, and on and on....) so I can genuinely say with pride this year, I'll be more than happy when I hear my boy cheer for the enemy this year.

This was from his Graduation on Halloween.

It was a small hope that Army would beat Notre Dame but I still had hopes they would make it close.

So a bit disappointing. I guess there will be no miracle season on the Hudson.

Still hoping Army can win the AAC.

Just beat the hell out of Navy!  Nothing else matters!

Yeah well, beating UTSA and moving to 10-1 matters a little bit right?

On to the AAC Title game against Tulane.

The mighty Black Knights led by Captain America put an absolute beat down on Tulane.  Weird shit tends to happen in the Army Navy game, but on paper Army should roll.  My son says they have to get decked out in their heavy ass wool uniforms and load up on a bus at about 4:00AM on Saturday for the five hour trip down to D.C.  He's fired up.  I'm fired up.  Let's all get fired up.

Go Army beat Navy!!!

Army opens at -2.5 over Navy and has gone to -5.5. That still looks pretty low, Army looks like easy money at that price.

Army's reward for going 11-1, winning the AAC, and having a Heisman Finalist:

Gotdam Shreveport and a 9:15 PM Eastern kickoff.

I hope they take it out on the Squids.  Go Army!!!

Awesome experience for your son. Even if he only serves the required period, West Point on the resume speaks for itself. Best of luck towards his future and service.

Hook’em!!!

Navy singing first is more beautiful.

But yeah, the post/ campus is incredible.  Nugget, if you don't attend one of the other 3 Army-Navy games while Junior is a Cadet, you're cheating yourself.

Getting a ticket ain’t exactly easy.  They had a lottery for parents that I entered. Nose bleed seats were about $200, but I didn’t get drawn anyway.  Your lottery entry is tied to your kid’s graduating class year so maybe parents of Firsties (seniors) have a better chance than Plebe (freshmen) parents.

WP is a beautiful area.

Hell yes it is.  We went up in August for A-day, that area was bad ass.

-2.5? Wow. I would think it gets to 6 or 7.

Best part of Army’s “Captain America” QB is that he’s a Texan! Reminds me of the nightmares created by Taysom Hill (BYU) running roughshod over us for two years in a row.

Hook’em!!!

I don't mind the opponent, and the payout is almost double any other bowl that has the AAC affiliation.  Shreveport however, is a fucking dump.  I see cold, dreary, freezing rain type days in the future, which actually wouldn't be the worst thing for the Army offense.

I am LOLing on chats with Army fans on how to get there and arrange travel/ best options.  There ARE no better options...

It's a fun game, but I don't get how people who did not attend either of these academies develop a rooting interest for one side over the other.  I did 20+ in the canoe club, and I don't care which side wins.

I love West Point for what it meant to my son, and the shared experience of that part of his life's journey.

Depends on the season.

This year Army is a great story so I will be rooting for them to win.

Go Army! Their QB is from Abernathy, TX. Tough as nails. Cfb is awesome.

Go ARMY, beat navy!!! For 364 days a year they are “brothers in arms,” but for 60 minutes of game time each year, they are the enemy/foe!

Sing 2nd ARMY and beat navy!

Hook’em!!!

I remember that, and the episode where Fred Flinstone goes back to school.

Username/Avatar vs posts suggest you were dropped on your head as a child

In other words, a perfect candidate for the Army.

I am neither Army nor Navy, but Junior attended USMA. I am a former Marine, enlisted. My younger son was Navy enlisted.  The layers are there, but from an enlisted perspective, it really don’t make a shit.  The rivalry is much fun though.

My user name was a response to a poster who was constantly up my ass.

Hate to break it to ya, but I think that makes you Navy.

False.
It is absolutely about the academies. I have not a goddamn thing to do with Annapolis.  What you’re saying is that anybody that lives in the state of Texas is beholden to the longhorns. And we know that’s not fucking true

This is the strangest argument I've ever heard.  I'm former Navy enlisted and all the other former Navy enlisted, and currently Navy enlisted I know root for Navy

But you do you

I did too at that time.
Evidently the schools involved don’t trip a switch on people being able to differentiate between the two experiences: enlisted Marine vs Father of a Cadet.
Why would I be loyal to some school that my fucking boss went to? Who fucking cares? Even the Marine Ops are not fucking Marines until they are commissioned. So again, tell me why I should give a fuck about Annapolis beyond what any citizen would feel.

My father was in the Army.  One of my grandfathers was in the Army.  Go Army! Beat Navy!

Army (enlisted) 88-95. The boss above mine is a former Naval Aviator and Naval Academy undergrad. He’s roughly 10-12 years younger than me, so our time in service didn’t overlap.

It’s been a fun season talking football with him, as both teams were undefeated prior to Notre Dame, with hopes that the possibility of playing this game in back to back weeks, through mid-season.

Lots of “Go Army, beat Navy” and the reverse were exchanged throughout the season, especially this week. Like I’ve stated earlier that we’re all brothers in arms for 364 days, except those precious 60 minutes on the big day!

GO ARMY, beat navy!

Hook’em!!!

My grandfather was a career Army officer that commissioned through Officer Candidate School (OCS). My Dad graduated from Texas and commissioned as an Army officer through OCS. I slept on a Longhorn Country rug in Kindergarten and grew up rooting for Texas and ‘playing Army’ in my backyard. I commissioned via West Point and spent a year in Iraq and threw up the Horns in photos with my platoon before going out on patrols. On the night of the ‘05 National Championship I watched from a Forward Operating Base called Anaconda. I’ve been through the dark ages of Army football and am loving what Saint Monken has done for the program. I am hopeful to sing second today but know it will be highly contested and as former Army coach Bob Sutton said ‘in this game the more desperate team wins.’ Hook’em and Go Army Beat Navy!

The boy said it was a real hoot getting out in 20F temps at 2:00 this morning for the bus ride from West Point to D.C.
