October 26, 20187 yr Well, color me surprised. QPR have turned the season around. 23 points from the last 11 matches (7-2-2)
October 27, 20187 yr Yeah - they turned it around like a bus on top of Villa. Welp boys ... looks like another year in the Championship.
April 19, 20196 yr Mario Vrancic rescued a point for Norwich today. They moved 5 points clear of Sheffield United and Leeds with three to play so they'll really have to fuck it up to not get promoted. They've scored 9 goals in the 75th minute or later and earned NINETEEN points from those nine goals. That doesn't seem to bode well for their future in the Prem... Sheffield United has a +6 goal differential edge on Leeds. Both teams have to play already relegated Ipswich Town and 5th place Aston Villa so the second automatic promotion spot should have a fun finish. 4-6 are West Brom, Villa and Middlesbrough. Middlesbrough is one point clear of Bristol City and two points clear of Derby County, but both of those teams have played one fewer game but play each other. The race for sixth will be tight.
April 20, 20196 yr I'm going to assume that Norwich is safely through. It won't happen, but I'd like to see the other two spots go to Bristol City and Leeds. Bristol last played top flight football in 1980, twelve years before the Premier League existed. All other contenders have played in the Premier League at one time or another, but Leeds has had the longest absence (2004). I would also be okay with Sheffield United. Villa is a blue blood, and absolutely belongs in the Premier League from a historical relevance point of view, but I won't shed any tears if they miss out again, especially if it means that some clubs who haven't been promoted in over a decade get a shot.
April 20, 20196 yr Villa have 9 wins in a row and solidly in 5th... Playoffs should be assured, and with their current form I'd give them better than even odds to get that third promotion spot.

Norwich have Stuart Webber as their Sporting Director. He’s the same guy that built the Huddersfield team that got promoted to the PL. Their big issue is likely to be a general lack of money. In an interview the other day, Webber was saying they weren’t going to be able to go out and spend £15m on a player. The club is similar to the Packers in that it’s owned by the fans. The majority owners’ net worth is around £35m.

April 20, 20196 yr Leeds back in the Premiership would be interesting. They have a natural rival in Man U. Wouldn't mind seeing the Villains back.

That means Luton and Barnsley likely get the automatic promotion from League One and Sunderland will have to go through the playoffs.
April 22, 20196 yr Leeds is down 2-0 to Brentford in the 68th minute so without a miracle Norwich will be up 6 points with two games to play and a +9 GD edge on Leeds meaning they're practically promoted. Leeds will be three back of Sheffield United and play Aston Villa next who have won 10 straight games. Aston Villa closes with Leeds and Norwich but even so have to be the favorites to win the playoff based on form.
April 28, 20196 yr Fucking Leeds. This was a chippy match to begin with, with Leeds being the better side today, but also a bunch of hard fouling that's.Then, in an obvious shitty move, faked like they were going to put the ball out of play for an injured player... And then didn't and busy through the stationary players to score a go ahead goal.Fights among the players, stewards on the pitch to separate players, and a red/2 yellow cards... And the goal stands. When John Terry is the voice of calm and reason, you know we've entered bizarro world. To give Leeds some credit, their manager didn't like it and immediately told his team to stand still and let Villa equalize unopposed.Still. Fuck Leeds.

April 28, 20196 yr Aston Villa shouldn't have stopped playing. Sportsmanship isn't what it used to be and it's not uncommon in the sport nowadays for teams to play through it so they should've kept going. Tyler Roberts is a punk for faking that he was going to put it out of play though. Bamford's a punk for the flop that drew the red card and Jansson is a punk for trying to stop the tying goal.
April 29, 20196 yr I've seen some shit, but I don't think I've seen much stranger than that who series of events. Respect for John Terry, though.

This is where I fall. There is so much fucking flopping anymore it's impossible to know if someone is really injured. There is plenty of blame to go around. Edited April 29, 20196 yr by JimmyHoffa

Villa had put the ball out for an injured Leeds player maybe 10 minutes earlier. Everyone was expecting the ball to be played out when Roberts got the ball. Everyone was pulling up except Klich who ran upfield for Roberts to pass him the ball. Pretty much all of the English media I’ve seen have shit all over Leeds for it.

May 1, 20196 yr Not so sure about that. They went from League One in 2017 to back to the Premier League in under 2 seasons. That's not bad.

May 5, 20196 yr Leeds shits the bed against a 10-man, last place Ipswich team, but West Brom lost to Derby County who needed the win to make the playoff so it's Leeds vs Derby and West Brom vs Aston Villa in the playoff semifinals. Both semifinals start on Saturday. The return leg for West Brom-Villa is Tuesday, the return leg for Derby-Leeds is Wednesday.
