Stop acting like you're not impressed

More than zero sacks would help solidify your argument. But the 5 TFLs were nice. Kept them under 200 yards total offense. Good opening game.

Lack of sacks is misleading. CSU ran the ball 30+ times and only attempted 24 passes. And their QB was getting the ball out quick.  Nicolosi had 10 completions for 59 yards. 1 Watson.

I noticed this and am very confused, as I was told they ran an air raid offense.  I never saw the Pirate (RIP) run it that way at tech.

Before I anoint this O line as one of the best ever I have to understand why it took 4 downs to score from 1st and 4 on the CSU 4 yd line. Then I have to have someone explain to me why Blue got tackled in the backfield twice as soon as he got the ball. That should never happen with an elite O line....

I’m not saying the OL is elite, but plays get blown up against elite OLs every weekend.

You do realize the team we just played gave up 14 sacks all of last year right? That qb generally throws the ball up leading to picks instead. He had 16 last year. So pump the breaks on "no pass rush".

1 - We still scored. What are you bitching about?

2 - Please show me the last O-line to never allow an RB to get tackled in the backfield.

We will see. There is more nfl guys on this line though.

The 05 oline was helped greatly by VY being such a run threat.

VY made the (admittedly good) OL look much better.

Edited- jinx!

Comparisons with a little wish casting to 05

QB- edge 05. VY was aGod and the best college QB I’ve ever seen. Quinn Ewers is likely to be in NY for the Heisman ceremony and Arfh Manning might be an improvement on him in 25, so it’s not like this years team is hurting there.

RB- Big edge 05.

WR- Big edge 24. Biggest advantage 24 has.
TE- 05- David Thomas was awesome. We have 2 NFL guys in 24 so we aren’t hurting.
OL- edge 24?  I think we have two first round tackles and I expect every guy on the line to be drafted eventually, but that 05 unit was good and cohesive. It didn’t have anyone as good as Banks, and the NFL prospects are much better for 24. If they play well and up to their talent as a unit this is an advantage, but who knows.

DL- edge 05 but I think we might have 5 draft picks on this DL. If Collins has a great year this unit will be as good as that one and potentially better.

Lb- edge 24. That was the weakest part of 05. Ant Hill is special and I think Gbenda would start ok that team as well.

Secondary- edge 05. That was a truly special special group. This secondary should be pretty good I think- but that might be the best defensive backfield I’ve ever seen.

specialists- edge 24-

headsets- edge 24.

Depth- edge 24.

I would never pick against that 05 team against anyone because of VY. That said- this team is really really good I think.

Will be interesting to do this again at the end of the year.

That’s headsets and it’s a big one.

Eh, the 2005 offensive line spent a lot of time in the NFL.  I think the jury is out in that regard for this year's version.

Jonathan Scott -- 9 seasons

Kasey Studdard -- 7 seasons

Lyle Seindlein -- 9 seasons

Justin Blalock -- 8 seasons

How? You had greater than 6 go to NFL from the 05 team.

One thing that Keith Jackson mentioned was how the unappreciated OL of 05 dominated the national title game.

This year’s OL isn’t even close to 05. You couldn’t be more wrong.

I’m sorry- is the book finished on this years OL?
Both tackles will be first round picks- so just start there. I bet center gets drafted and we will also likely see 3 or 4 guards that get playing time get drafted as well.

Add these backups on that team:

Mike Garcia, William Winston, Brett Valdez, Dallas Griffin and Tony Hills

Thank you for your apology. You are correct, the book isn’t finished which is precisely why I wouldn’t say some stupid moronic shit like 24 is better than 05.

I didn’t say that. I said if things came together and they played cohesively and up to their talent level they could be. Reading is hard I guess.

At least of couple of those tackles in the backfield were just the right defensive play call to beat our play. Sometimes that happens, especially when you're keeping your o vanilla.

Pipe down dork. Your posts suck.

You looked into your crystal ball and said, “There is more nfl guys on this line though.”

There is. Would you care to wager?

I already asked you “How?” And you didn’t answer.

Your stupidity is confusing me, so just to be sure, you’re wanting to wager on future NFL production?

If we have 4 starting lineman from this team that have a greater tenure than the those previously mentioned (in jimmyjazz’s post), I’ll pay you $500.

And if we don’t, you owe me $500 (unless you’re short on rent that month, I’ll work with you).

Beyond that, I couldn't find any info as to whether Will Allen logged NFL time.  I thought he had signed somewhere, but maybe not.

Studdard is listed with six years in the NFL; he played in 25 games.

Three of these guys played in2006, without VY (Scott gone, replaced by Hills). Do you remember that as a particularly dominant line?

Not particularly.  Do you think this 2024 line is clearly better than the 2005 version?  That's the point in question.

I do. It’s part if the reason that a rs freshman from podunk Texas had a really good season at qb.
