I'd rather stay behind Georgia until they come to Austin.  Same way I felt about being behind SC in 05.  I'd rather have something to prove than something to defend.

You say a lot of stupid shit and you do it at a rapid, voluminous rate. You’re like a shit howitzer, just fucking blasting the board with constant bullshit.

Eh. The playoff changed this. I wanted a clear 1-2 undefeated game when you had a winner take all game like 2005, I wanted no doubts when we won then.

With a playoff it really doesn’t matter, you settle it on the field regardless. Sure it will be cool, if both teams win out, for Georgia-Texas to be 1 v 2. But that’s about all I want. I would rather they lost last night as we took the top spot.

I think there's still a huge difference between #1 and every other spot.

If both us and UGA stay undefeated until they come to Austin, it could be a #1 vs. #1 regular season matchup. I can’t remember that ever happening.

Arch effect has massive reach, obviously.

Probably has more to do with UGA almost shitting the bed against a basketball school.

All we did was hold serve, really.

Yes

No they won’t.

now that UGA has dropped to #2.

Do rankings matter anymore with an expanded playoff

I personally would very much enjoy a first round bye, so I think yes.

Yes. Because we're #1.

Aren't the first round buys automatic for the P4 champs?

I mean, they “matter” in a broad sense, but the bye comes with winning the SEC and not having four conference champions ranked higher.

Not technically. Top 4 conference champions.

Our first time being #1 in the regular season since 2008 I think. And hell I am not even sure the last time we were #1 in the regular season prior to 2008.

I am going to enjoy this this week.

Edit: Ok so the last two times Texas was ranked #1 in the regular season was 2008 and...1984. So a rare honor for us.

They're taking it well.

One of these things is not like the other:

Now that they have won an **SEC** **road** game, they are back on the roller coaster. They think that UT is barely top 10, hasn't played anyone, Michigan will drop out of top 25 next week, and of course, they beating us is a given.

Can someone remind me if being ranked #1 is good?

Only if it’s in the last poll

Who has aggy played?

Notre Dame. Quality loss.

This.

id much rather be #2 taking #1 from the team holding it in our house, than having to defend #1.

You know it's the same two teams playing either way right?

I think the #1 ranking is accurate.  It also takes the target off of Georgia’s back and places it squarely on The Horns going into that October matchup

Aggy about to boycott news aren’t they?

By this logic, aggy is a top 6 team and Texas isn't.

Sleeping giant.  Mammoth, really.  Sure would be a shame if they ran out of time 4 to 6 times again this year.

Hunter vs. hunted. I question whether it actually makes any difference, but Texas needs to get used to meeting or exceeding expectations.

They matter to people who enjoy following college football. Times ranked #1 is a thing that is tracked. Only dipshits with no sense of excitement or humor would look at Texas being ranked #1 and go Debbie Downer on it.

Enjoy it while it lasts because the winner of the UGA/Bama game seems likely to bump Texas and I don’t think we’ll have a quibble. It gets to get settled on the field irrespective.

Surely we were #1 at some point in 09. Actually I guess Florida hung on to that till bama face raped them in the sec title game.

I don't think Bama jumps unless they dominate GA and win by 35+ and Texas has a bad game and doesn't blow out ULM.

If GA destroys Bama, they could certainly take back the top spot regardless of our outcome.

Fuck yeah. Not scared of it at all. We deserve that shit. We're deep and we're built to beat people down. Gonna make that UGA game a hype-nado from which hysterical-types May never recover.

I like improving our stats when we play the #1 ranked team.

of course I guess I like being the #1 ranked team more
