FINAL 2024 CFB polls/rankings - Texas #3/ #4 /#3 (CFP/AP/Coaches)

If Aggy beat us, went to the SEC Championship and beat Georgia, I can see the CFP not giving a 3 loss SEC Champ one of the top four auto bids.

I'd rather stay behind Georgia until they come to Austin.  Same way I felt about being behind SC in 05.  I'd rather have something to prove than something to defend.

You say a lot of stupid shit and you do it at a rapid, voluminous rate. You’re like a shit howitzer, just fucking blasting the board with constant bullshit.

We win out and somehow Miami jumps us in the seeding?  Seems well thought out.  I assume Danny has CTE.

THe Big 12 champ winner is going to get a bump.  I will be like NCAA basketball where if you win the conf tourney it helps but losing in the final or even in semi's/quarters doesn't really hurt.

speaking of the conf tournaments in basketball, those are going to be nuts this year.

As discussed in the other thread, there is a scenario where Baylor can win the Big XII CCG and finish with 4 losses. It's a very unlikely scenario but still possible. I'm not sure there would be any valid argument to rank them above 1 loss Boise and 1 loss Army assuming both win out including their CCGs. The odds however strongly favor either BYU, ASU, or ISU being a 2 loss champ in which case they almost certainly get the 4th bye. A three loss CU would be a closer call.

???????

I can't evert conjure up a scenario where this is possible. Even if Miami wins 100-0 against smu

There is no planet where a big 12 champ Colorado gets left out of the playoffs. None, zero, zilch.

If they end up a conference champs with 3 losses I think they are in the playoff but could lose out on the first round bye. Unlikely, but possible. My comment was about the bye.

yes but the 4 seed is the worst conf champ.  they would be ranked #11 or #12 in a 1 thur 12 scenario

The Committee will decide that, thank you very much.

The point being that #4 will play the winner of #5 and #12.

yes but #4 wouldn't be #4 at all if you ranked them 1 through 12 at the start like the do in the NCAA tournament.

He's without a doubt the worst when it comes to former QBs who are now analysts. McElroy & Klatt absolutely crush him

Not this year, the SEC champ easily gets a bye.

Maybe, hypothetically, if every G5 was 13-0 and the SEC champ had lost to one of them.

The top 4 conference champs get the top 4 seeds. The order is... flexible.

The biggest thing I see is that ACC and XII are not shoo-ins, altough it seems like ACC will be 3rd highest conf champ, but 4th seems like Boise or XII winner, whichever is higher ranked.

Whoever is seeded #5 plays #12, winner plays #4. Reckon #5 is B1G CCG loser or  tOSU or UO, could be Norte Dome. Since #4 is shitty XII or Boise, likely #5 moves on.

The Committee is prolly gonna try to seed to set up SEC-B1G Grande Finale, so no telling. They have a lot of latitude, and the "rules" mostly aren't hard, but they're great for justufucation.

You know, like, maybe, Northern Illinois?

Lulz at 88% if we lose to aggy.

Yeah, its 100% either way. That prediction machine is worthless. We really need to win the SEC championship. Would be very shitty to end up the 6/7 seed after a second loss to Georgia and have to play on much less rest than everyone else.

Yeah. I think if Tulane and Boise are ranked higher than the Big 12, then the they’re out.

Holy shit that would be great

then this retard tries to sue the committee or something

then THE ENTIRE BIG12 turns into FSU next year lmao

Nope. There’s no incentive for the Big 12 or ACC to even play this game if their champ gets left out

Why play any games?

Not only will they not leave them out, but I believe they'll be no lower than the #4 seed.

Do y'all really believe that the committee will set the precedent of jumping a P4 champ with a non-undefeated G5 team that has no P4 wins and three 1-score conference  wins in the first year of this format?

There’s no power 4 though…

sec

big10

acc

Actually all the conferences and notre dame all met to create the new playoff system.

There used to be a P5 before the Pac12 was dismantled and we left. Notice how the good teams went to the SEC and big10 and the bad teams all went to the ACC and big12.

There isn’t a power 4 it’s the top 4 ranked teams from any conference get put into the top 4 seeds and get a bye (for playing in and winning their conference championship).

Boise State is in the 4th seed if they win out over the big12 champ, and depending on how it plays out the big12 will be lucky to get a 11 or 12 seed.

TLDR: Brett Yormack is a bitch and he’s got the same amount of power as the other 8 conferences below the sec and big10.

I guess we'll see.

Sagarin currently has Boise behind 8 XII teams for what it's worth.

The XII is also currently the 2nd rated conference

Yep, lots of shit talking about the Big 12 on this board for obvious reasons but it's still a very good and underrated conference, same as it ever was.

B1G is super top heavy and then all crap

That playoff predictor is shit. It just gave me this scenario:

310875dc925a01a365877c51c055f7cb.jpg

The SEC gets 4 teams in and Texas isn’t one of them. SC and Bama both get in.

And Tulane, from the 12 seed beats Oregon, BSU, Tenn, and PSU to win the national championship.

But if it were the SEC champ, maybe Wofford, or Furman?

Fuck Tech but it would be hilarious for both of us to make the playoff while Aggy and BYU have a weirdoff in the Holiday Bowl

So Texas vs Ohio St in the championship game.

On the surface I'd agree with you, but you're also less likely to end up with a conference dominating the semifinals.

I’ve looked at like 8-10 bracket predictions for this week and uga-Tenn was the most common first round matchup and I’m just not seeing a scenario where they make that a 1st round game.

I think far more likely would be:

smu @ psu

tenn @ nd

iu @ uga

SMU going to ND would be such a gift to ND that it will probably happen.

Hopefully USC beats them.

I think psu is locked into the 6 seed unless uga beats Texas in the championship game. The I could see Texas getting the 6 and psu dropping to 7, nd to 8

Indy @ ut

smu @ psu

tenn @ nd

The other central could move psu out of the 6 seed is Michigan beating osu, which would put psu in the b1g championship game and osu in the mix for the 7-10 range.

Not sure how getting your ass beat at home by SMU is a gift. Seriously, ND is gonna lose their playoff game and it would be delicious if it’s to SMU.

Will be hilarious when Boise gets the 4 seed and the bye and then Jeanty doesnt even play vs Ohio State or whoever

Why would he sit out? Players only do that for meaningless bowl games. It would be the biggest game in Boise State history.

If Big12 champ gets left out, you’ll see a whole lot more questionable officiating protecting the higher ranked teams next season.

I don't think the PC wants the first round chalk full of paired off conference rivals

Curt Cignetti just wants Indiana to get in.  Shea Whigham has already signed on to play him in “I win. Google me!” coming soon from Universal.

Honestly it's bad for "business" that being business being ratings.

They will want ND for example to play another Helmet blue bloods if possible in early or later round match up. Texas, Georgia, Bama for example.

ND vs SEC loser in first round, with them matching up much later vs the SEC winner.

Then they'll look for big cross regional matchups where they can get them Georgia vs Oregon or a Arizona State vs Penn State in the first round.

That won't be the primary guide for seeding but will absolutely be a substantial factor.

Exactly.  A made for television event is going to be made for television.

I’m talking about going into the game, neither of those was for a national title shot.
