I hate when they call it the cotton bowl when at Jerry world.

I guess someone in power thinks there should be at least one playoff game there.

I'd rather stay behind Georgia until they come to Austin.  Same way I felt about being behind SC in 05.  I'd rather have something to prove than something to defend.

You say a lot of stupid shit and you do it at a rapid, voluminous rate. You’re like a shit howitzer, just fucking blasting the board with constant bullshit.

Does it also bother you that the big 12 and big 10 each have 38 teams now?

It should and I agree with you. I mean why should names even matter at all?

Gentlemen, all I have to say is, welcome to being at the table of elites. We will be regulars in the playoffs, and at some point Sark will finally pull through amd hoist up that trophy....next year with Arch. And the year after with Arch. And again with Arch in his 3 seasons. Then the hunger games begin between Owens/Lacey/Bell. May the best win, and bring forth another trophy.

With Tulane's loss any 2 loss B12 champ is in for sure. 3 loss is questionable but possible.

Oh I think 3 loss B12 champ for sure gets in and should get in.

Next YEAR is 2025, so let's go ahead and win the bitch this SEASON.

Next season, too.

So if UGA loses to GA Tech, they are in a must win game next week?

It would appear so.

Well yea. The conf champ would get in, that’s a central point of selection.

It's kinda weird that Georgia has only been to the playoffs 3 times, and I know they have 2 NC's, but people out here acting like they're regulars like Bama. 2017, 2021, 2022. That's it. And I guess this year. So Sark is only behind by 2, but he can win a NC, and defense can carry us to, and win a NC. We're elite-elite in that category. And we have just enough offense to help us.

Ohio State could also hilariously lose to Michigan

It is exactly as funny as I imagined

We probably already were, but now we're definitely in no matter what.

There's only 5 auto bids. Did you miss the entire discussion about if the AAC and MWC were both ranked ahead of the B12 champion?

It's not happening now since Tulane lost but that was why I made that comment.

TeXAs HaSN't bEaT AnyOnE!

Teams we've beat now have wins over Tennessee, Ole Miss (x2), Bama (x2), and Ohio State.

No.  No conferences get an auto bid.  The CFP committee ranks the teams, and the top 5 conference champions get auto bids.  There is nothing in the rules carving out a place for (say) the SEC champion.  They must be among the 5 highest ranked D1 conference champions.

I'm obviously biased - do y'all think SMU should get in regardless of Miami result at 11-1?

Loss - BYU

P4 OOC win against TCU by 3 scores

Would be 8-0 in ACC play.

Not sure our resume is any worse than Indiana's.

Feel like the way GT played last night should help the ACC 2 bid argument as well.

I guess we'll see what Miami does today.

Yep, as the tweet said, Texas hasn't beaten anyone except all these teams that keep beating other CFP contenders.

I think it is pretty safe to say that Texas has locked up the 5 seed at worst now, unless Oregon loses to Penn State? Then we would get bumped to 6?

2 losses to UGA, one of them in an extra game they dont have to play, vs a loss to Norther Illinois at home? With a much tougher schedule. No chance they put ND ahead of us.

I hope the media keep saying Texas gets lucky while all these superior teams like Ohio State and Miami just run into these shocking one week juggernauts.

Suck a dick:

What are we playing for against GA?  Win and earn a bye?  Lose and no bye?  If we lose do we lose a shot at a home playoff game?  I assume we are in regardless of next outcome.

Also what is the easiest path?  bye, win in semis and win finals?

We are in

We will get a home playoff game as either the 5, 6 or 7, at worst

it is gonna be funny watching them rig the 5 seed and the matchup in the semis knowing the FUCKING 5 Seed has a walk.  the 1 and 2 seed is supposed to have the walk.

This is the dumbest playoff scenario I have ever seen. rank them 1-12 and 1-4 have byes.

I hope we win so it doesn't matter but just watch.

that NIU loss didn't happen, if you haven't been paying attention. it has been memory holed by the committee.

Going to be #2 going into Atlanta.

Even if we lose, God forbid, we should at least get to host a first round game.

If you're Dan Lanning, looks like your options are

A. Iowa State/Arizona State then Boise

B. Bye then winner of Tennessee/Ohio State

How hard do you gameplan for the Big 10 CCG?

I cant see Texas being behind them. Maybe theyll do it but it would be fucking insane if they did. Their loss is horrifically bad. I guess 5 or 6 seed would be our likely landing place. Hopefully we beat UGA, get the rest, and get the 2 seed.

It is so fucking stupid that the system is putting teams in positions to have losing be incentivized.

I think Arizona State would beat Oregon

When the polls come out tomorrow, UT will indeed not have a single win over a top-25 team. Thanks, Aggie.

I think we're pretty clearly the best fucking team in America.

They could maybe put ND at 5 and drop Oregon to 6 to punish them and send a message. At least with 1 loss ND has some plausible that everyone knows is BS but they could do it anyway.

0 chance ND is ahead of Oregon if they lose. 0.0%

if Oregon loses they are auto 5 seed.  Lanning is a guy who probably would throw the game knowing his odds are better going through one team he has already played and the Big 12 champ.

Well 0% chance imo that Oregon goes out and obviously tanks next week. 99% of football coaches will take the bye and needing 1 win over needing 2 wins. Lanning is a loophole guy though, we saw him with the 12 men earlier this year

7 minutes ago, ztejas said:

We could be. We need better playcalling, better QB play, and better WR play from people not named Golden.

But then again every team has some pretty big issues.

Penn State is fucking trash, they wont lose to them even if they try.

That was bullshit in the press conference. He did not do that on purpose.

I don't trust anyone against this D.

If only the offense stops shooting themselves in the dick.

It’s beyond regarded to think you’d rather be the 5 than the 1 or 2 at this point.

Look around at the parity in college football this year and imagine being so stupid that you’d rather play 2 elimination games instead of 1.

With so many teams losing, no one has any fucking clue how they’ll value a championship game winner like asu or Boise vs the group of Tenn, Miami, IU, SMU (if Clemson wins the acc), Bama.

It’s perfectly reasonable to think Bama gets in as the 12 seed if asu gets a bump from 16 to 13 this week and then from 13 to somewhere above 12 after getting the championship game win.

So not knowing how the committee may or may not punish championship losers, it is the height of stupidity to think it would be better to roll the dice on getting into the 5, 6, or 7 seed playing who the fuck knows, instead of preferring to earn the 1 or 2 seed in a bye.

but hey. At least you’d be in the same page as Kiffin, so that’s something.

Final Regular Season In-State Rankings

1. Texas (11-1)
 - The Longhorns go wire-to-wire at #1.

2. SMU (11-1) - The Mustangs rumbled through their inaugural season in the ACC undefeated. They will earn a CFP birth with a win over Clemson in the ACC Championship game. If they fall to the Tigers, can the Ponies still sneak in?

3. Baylor (8-4) - The Bears roll into a possible Rate Bowl bid on a 6-game win streak, the longest of the Dave Aranda era.

4. TCU (8-4) - The Horned Frogs benefitted from a tissue-soft schedule with their 6 conference wins (and 1 loss) coming against the 7 teams in the cellar of the Big XII standings.

5. Texas Tech (8-4) - Seventh place in the Big XII runs through Lubbock.

6. Sam Houston (9-3) - Last season, their first in the FBS, the Bearkats finished just 3-9. This year, they improved by a remarkable 6 games. With their defeat of Liberty, they finish tied for 2nd in CUSA and will just miss the Conference USA championship game on a tie-break.

7. Abilene Christian (9-4) - After dropping an early OT heartbreaker to Texas Tech, ACU rolled through the UAC with a 7-1 conference record. They open the FCS playoffs with a shutout of Northern Arizona.

8. Texas A&M (8-4) - The aggies close the regular season on a three-game losing streak to teams not named New Mexico State and finish in the same position they held in our initial rankings.

9. Texas State (7-5) - If the Bobcats had been able to close out games against Sam Houston or Arizona State, this could have been a special season. They improve over last year's conference record to 5-3 in the Sun Belt.

10. UTSA (6-6) - Under head coach Jeff Traylor, the Roadrunners have gone 12-2, 11-3, 9-5, and now 6-6 over the past 4 seasons.

11. North Texas (6-6) - With their win over Temple, the Mean Green are bowl-eligible for the third time in five years.

12. Houston (4-8) - After defeating Kansas State on November 3, the Cougars end the season on a three-game skid.

13. Rice (4-8) - The Owls’ winning percentage over the past 11 seasons: 33%. Their winning percentage this season: 33%.

14. UTEP (3-9) - The Miners showed little life all year with three wins coming against fellow bottom-20 FBS teams FIU, Kennesaw, and New Mexico State.

Some playoff thoughts after yesterday.

We want Oregon to win vs Penn st as it guarantees us a 5 seed at worst. ND is not going to jump us for the 5 seed or else the big 10 and sec will explode.

Teams playing in conference championships don't really get a bye. They have to play an extra game in order for the chance at a bye. I think you will start to see very liberal rotations and resting starters in the big 10 and sec championships during years where both teams playing are getting in regardless of outcome. Injuries later in the year are more common and it gives teams a chance to build depth for the playoff push.

I think you will see a preference in years to come to be in a position like tenn and Ohio st are in this year.

The way they have the 12 team playoff set up is stupid but it may be the most fair way to do this without invalidating the lesser conferences. ¹

Maybe this post and others like it are correct, but I can’t be the only guy that reads them and thinks “fuck this shit, Texas needs to beat Georgia and win the conference title”, can I?
